  1. I did not go but daughter and grown granddaughter did (on breakaway January 8-15) they said it as awesome. You do know you can use your specialty dinning pkg there. Total of 4 items.  My GD got 3 rolls and something else.  How the skinny girl ate it i will never know.

  2. Recently on breakaway. My daughter talked about getting the Starbucks package.  She didn’t like the dining room coffee so she would stop and get a cup of Starbucks before breakfast. Only two specialty coffees the whole week so the Starbucks package would not of been a good deal. I had a coffee pot brought to my cabin and coffee was fine.
yes regular coffee is free everywhere.

    Ok cool.

Im going to bring a refillable bottle and order 12 1 liters just in case.! LOL. yes. I will be getting the posts about just drinking tap water. sorry everybody LOL.

last time we cruised they had the nice plastic 1 liters.

Just remember regardless what you bring to port you cannot bring back in the ship. . Well that is the rule but last cruise I saw people returning with their NCL a carton of water. I just dump any remaining water to keep from any issues.

This is almost certain to be new, AFAIK.  We're on the Joy and had both Platinum & SD vouchers, Cagney waiter carefully explained the difference & choices ... told him, whatever isn't covered, just put it thru the room charges.

The sides are truly small or petite for its listed price.  Starters for Teppanyaki's set dinner was pathetic ... consistent with the latest "waste management" theme.  No chance that we'll pay 120% pricing as add-ons for sides and some of the starters in SD.

Are you serious. Were these dishes after you ate your fill ?? Surely this wasn’t the pitiful portion served!

I've read they're the Hamilton Beach makers with the flat pods, is this correct?

Are there plenty of pods supplied each day or should i bring my own (DH and I drink 2 cups each morning and I'm looking forward to sitting on our balcony and enjoying the view).

    Thanks!

I would tell cabin steward right off get go you need plenty.  You will probably have to ask for the coffee pot. I just got off breakaway and had to ask for the pot.

  6. I was on Breakaway January 8-15. I went to cruise next last night of cruise.  I got a guy that literally had honey dripping from his mouth. Everything was honey and sweetie. He gave me my two pins and told me I made sapphire and gave me my paper for the 2 cruise next I bought.
my cabin steward was beyond awesome.

only person I ran across that was not nice and friendly was the prune faced woman working the counter at taste restaurant. She must of gargled with vinegar each morning. She almost got the furry of my daughter when she yanked her card out of her hand.

Can you use Starbucks cards on the ship?  Thinking of buying some for my kids.

I had read somewhere you can’t use gift card on most of the ships. Just recently on breakaway and was told you will let you use the app . That is true because I used it several times. So not sure about the gift cards.  Just told the app is ok.

Typically inside...theater, or MDRs..depends on where your room is.  Pro TIP -  Be sure to have a couple drinks in hand about 1/2 hr before the event, as the bars all close down about then for the duration of it.

Don’t they make you throw out drinks for the drill.  They have in the past.

So I messed up and didn't do the check in as soon as I got the notification.  As a result only the latest boarding times were still available for our Escape cruise this Sat.

Anyone know how strict NCL is with the boarding times?   I'm worried about booking decent show and tender times by the time we board.

In New Orleans the first group was checked.  After I went through the line not sure what happened.  I did see them removing some from the line.

I heard that they changed the port arrival times for Costa Maya and Cozumel on last couple cruises?  Did you experience the delays that the letter said?  Did you really not get into Cozumel until 10:00 AM instead of 9:00AM?  We have a 10:30 excursion..not sure I can disembark in time if we really arrive at 10:00.

Yes. The schedule was changed. Cozumel was 10:00-5:50 (not as posted on itinerary. Can not remember costa Maya but it was messed up. We was suppose to be there at one time, ship was running slow (due to some problem) but as it turns out we were not as late as planned.  I had read one sailing they flip flopped Cozumel and costa Maya.
surely if you have outside excursion the leader will see the ship is delayed and will not take off before everyone is there.

pandncruisers or cruiseinmeme~We are on the Breakaway 2/5/23.  Just a couple of questions if you don't mind.  More because I am a planner than anything.  So by the old muster drill...everyone onboard had to go to an assigned area on deck and stand there during the drill at 3:30pm?  Did you have to take your life jacket?  Were you able to get any Specialty Dining reservations that you wanted while onboard?  We are hoping to get our prebooked reservations on better dates & times!  How is the food in the dining room?  Is the noodle bar open or lunch on the Sea days?  Did they charge you taxes for drinks while in New Orleans?  Did they charge you taxes for drinks sailing from New Orleans before International waters?  Was availability of most of the alcohols that are listed for the open bar, seem available? Was there a Dress up or Not night onboard?  I am thinking they did away with that designated night?  Was Rumours at Syd Norman's offered and if so, is it still super popular and hard to get in to?  Any questions that you can answer is much appreciated!

I will try to answer the questions

since we did not do the safety drill life vest ?? Have not had to take life vest to a drill in forever though.

yes they was charging tax on drinks while in NOLA . I don’t drink but my daughter and granddaughter sure did. They had the package and was actually charged for the drink and took three days to have it come off the bill.
very few people dressed up. Like really dressed up. Never even saw anything about it either.
reservations once on ship was a ***** show. There was 3 of us making them so one night we needed to switch from 2 people to 3 in Cagney’s . We got it done but by the skin of our teeth.  Try and do any changes fast.  Also glad we had dinner reservations in plain old dinning room because it got full fast.
noodle bar- oh brother. The line is unreal. My plan was for Friday while kids went to sushi. After hearing about line I got on it at 4:00 (opens at 5:00) already had people in line. Once we all went in the people had to wait another hour because that is how long it takes to serve everyone. Once all cleared out the next group goes in.   Was not open at lunch.  I would probably stand In line ann hour again but .who knows.
it is good but too much food for me. The combo fried rice was my favorite and couldn’t eat ll the rest of the food.
    I know nothing about Syd Norman’s .

    hope this helps.
I will say 3rd time on breakaway. Twice out of Nola and once out of Miami and never seen it so crowded everywhere. We came out of the dining room wedn evening and it was jammed up lines for. Both taste and savor. The lobby stayed packed. On past cruises sometimes sea days it was like a ghost town, not this cruise.

Totally off-topic question. But I am traveling with a group of people February 10. And I would like to buy them all lanyards.

On the Breakaway, are they using cards that can have a hole punched into them yet? Or are they RFID cards? That should be in a plastic sleeve?

I don’t know if they will actually refuse it when my daughter ask she was told it messes with you using the card.  Don’t scan like before you lay it on a reader. My lanyard had the sleeve so I just pulled it out each time.

As we were about to exit the ship last morning last week.  We handed our room card to security for exit scanning.  He looked at them and said follow him, pointing to a security guard standing there.  The security guard, as we stepped out of line, said go into that rooms as he pointed to one nearby.  I thought has the FBI caught up with all my past sins, or had my wife been doing something bad on the sly.  I entered the room and the guy sitting at a table said sign the receipt and I'll refund your money.  I'm now really thinking "what the hell"!   Turns out I had some unused refundable OBC on my account.  I signed and he reached in a money drawer and handed me $33, and the security guard then escorted us back to number one in line again.   Ya never know.     Oh, was San Diego and going through immigrations, as we left the ship, no passports were required. They use face ID and it takes about 10 seconds.  Does speed up the process a bunch.

We were taken out of line once and scared us to death.  We had two grandchildren with bus and if they planned on taking us somewhere what we do with two little kids.lol

turns out we spent so much money they wanted to charge us some taxes. All of a sudden an emergency happened and the place had to be cleared out and they rapidly told us to forget it.

  14. OMG on the roach situation.
Just got off a NCL rouse and next cruise will be on carnival spirit so thought I would check it out.

brother you can bet the smashed dead roach would be brought down to guest services not flushed.  I do not do roaches!!!!

besides they can get in your stuff and you take them home with you.I can handle alit but NOT roaches.
so now I can freak out thinking about this.

I was on the week before.  Was the person you reference a female waiter in either Taste or Savor?  We had a real sour puss one day for lunch.

Inc you guessed it!!!! We ate breakfast in Taste every morning, lunch when we could and dinner most nights. That poor woman never had a smile. Nuff said!  She was the only one on whole ship like that.

That's great that they're enforcing the arrival times.

I thought the muster stations were on your cruise card?

This will be our 10th cruise and we've never experienced such a messed up embarkation process.

Thanks for the information on the muster process.  There has been some speculation that NCL was going back to the old stand by your lifeboat process.

    Hope you enjoy your cruise.

    We'll be following your progress.

Yes your station is on your card (by number) but I had to ask where it was A7 meant nothing to me.
it is a hoot to have people cramming into the little area to get checked in and the tons of people still leaving the ship all in the same space
