  1. As a Pinnacle I am more than happy to pay my Gratuities, the staff always look after me, and in return I look after them.

They are hard working at all times and should receive their share of tips from all guests.

I would like to see high loyalty members to get sliding scale discounts on drink packages, in order to reflect the fact that when buying a dp they are giving back the benefits of drink vouchers or lounge drinks :)

I think Pinnacles should get free gratuities, price drops after final payment, and the ability to combine all perks.
  2. Front Page is an Advertising/Digital agency that work with brands on development and awareness.

    http://www.frontpage.co.uk

Who clearly show RCL as a client along with other brands, although it is interesting that the C&A site referred to is owned by an outside contractor.

Maybe they are just very cleaver and gathering responses that they can use as part of a further Sales presentation to Royal.

  3. Sorry I did not mean to infer any lack of knowledge to you personally.

I think a General Comment would be about things like the recent changes to C&A balcony discounts that would effect many members. Or comments about the potential of member discounts on things like Drink or Dining Packages.

Thanks Chip, I know what a general as opposed to a specific comment is. I was just looking for something someone might like to have asked. The more that ask, the more attention they will pay to the question.

  4. What would I do....Well I would look forward to enjoying my cruise, in exactly the same way I have enjoyed since the very first one taken. I would hope to meet some new friends, some of which might be on their first cruise along with others that might have cruised alot.

I would also look forward to cruising with people that we might have cruised with before, some of which might be Gold Members whilst others could be newly Diamond or D+. Along with the chance of meeting fellow Pineapple members that I have cruised with before ( Some of which are awesome people, and others less so ) as well as meeting other Pins that we have never met.

I will decide who I spend time with, and who to avoid depending on their welcoming smile ( or snear ) as I enter the room, be that the CL or any other lounge area.

I will be approachable to those that are positive, and wary of those that are stand offish, no matter what their Colour, Nationality or Sexual preference.

I cruise for myself and my wife, simply to have a good time because life is too short. We would never allow anybody else to change that, as I understand that my Pound, Euro or Dollar has exactly the same value as anyone else's be they Young or Old, I would hope that my cruise experience might help a First Time Cruiser get the most out of their experience, in the same way others did when I first started all those years ago.

I am proud to be a Pinnacle member because this only means we have enjoyed many cruises over a long time, this is a reflection of the years and years of hard work I have put into our lives. How lucky are we that our health has enabled us to do that.

People do not change when they become Pinnacle members, if they are arrogant or rude then they probably always were. Most of us know that the P Club name tag is resented by some and as such we become a target for remarks from people that have never taken the time to say hello. That is why we chose not to wear ours.

Being a P is only a status in a Loyalty Scheme, not a status in life, it does not give me access upstairs after I take my last breath, hopefully being respectful to others might do that.

And yes I will be on The Harmony TA, so if you are please say Hello.

  5. No such thing as a restaurant being busy, a good manager knows how many seats there are in the venue, and therefore should schedule staff accordingly.

If they find themselves being busier than expected on a normal quite session, then they should politely decline to accept additional guests in order to ensure good service to those already at tables.

If I am ever told "sorry we are busy" as an excuse for poor service, my response is simple. "No, you are either understaffed, or your staff are under trained, either way it is poor management".

I would rather be honestly told "sorry we are understaffed" than hearing that customers are to blame for attending.

I personally would never pay any service charge or tip for poor service, and would happily have such a charge removed for poor service, whilst at the same time I tip generously for professional service that enhances my experience

I also sit away from the bar in order to be served my drinks by a drink server, and therefore justify any enforced service charge on drinks.

As for Genies, I personally would not know what to ask one to do for me, I rarely have requests for a concierge. However if I used a Genie in the way that I have seen others do, I would certainly tip a minimum of $100 per person on a 7 night cruise, and more if I was the demanding type.

And yes I do come from the hospitality industry, and therefore speak from experience.

............... or the restaurant being busy.
  6. If it was a few days later, I trust you indicated the previous sickness on the health question form ?

Hope the short sickness did not effect the enjoyment of your cruise on such a fantastic ship, we would love to hear about the more positive aspects of your vacation as well.

..........We then hopped on Allure of the Seas a few days later ...............

  7. I think the OP has a valid point to some degree, however a Lounge is only a lounge by name, does it really matter what it is called.

A Diamond Lounge is for Diamond guests be they D or D+, and on some ships the D Lounge is in fact a nicer space than the CL.

Sure at times the D Lounge is crowded, but don't blame others for enjoying enough cruises to be able to use that facility, at those times the vouchers become useful.

HOWEVER the main point I would like to make is this................

Your true Suite or Pinnacle friends would happily join you for a drink in other areas of the ship if they missed you on the SL.

I have done on recent ships when travelling with friends some of which do NOT have any access to any lounge. Also thanks to Royal and the introduction of the voucher system I still get my happy hour drink.

Also for my real friends I am able to take them into Coastal Kitchen to dine with me.

Sometimes I think people forget what made them Diamond in the first place, which surely was the enjoyable cruise experience before they had any access to any lounge. Of course I understand the disappointment of restricted access to one part of the ship, but that is no more than my disappointment of not getting access to a CL before I was Diamond member.

The same situation applies now as it did then, access to the Suite Lounge is available to anybody..............that books a Suite. In exactly the same way the First Class cabin is to those on airlines. :)

  8. Ah but that button is on the list of "things to be moved" and will soon be halfway up/down the stairs as it is on Oasis ans Allure.

The funny thing is there is a gate at the bottom of the stairs with a card access for suite guests only. Yet when they come back down they press an exit button to open the gate...

You can just reach over and press the exit button :D:eek::cool:

  9. Really that just shows how opinions vary, I thought they were the 2 worst ever, Relying on asking people where they are from and what they do for a living until you find someone who can make a joke out of is NOT comedy.

However the headliner comedian Bobby Davro was hilarious, and the best I have ever seen on a ship, although I accept his show was aimed for an English audience. Hope to see him on another ship soon. :D

On 22nd May we had Jarlarth Regan and Ed Gamble, both of whom I've heard of, but hadn't seen live. I thought they were alright ...

  10. If you have sailed on the ship, then I respect that you are entitled to your opinion, if you have not I respectfully state that you do not know what you are talking about.

I had the pleasure of sailing on the first 4 sailings, and yes I saw some small issues on the first 2, ( for which we all received generous compensation) but now the ship is sailing as expected. Yes I know there are still some shows to be finalized but the actual ship is operating well and the staff are amazing.

We enjoyed our time on board and cannot wait to return, which we will do soon.

Sounds like the Harmony is one HUGE hot mess right now. All kinds of problems with it. Can't believe they even let it sail the way it is.
  11. Very few, if any passengers were "seriously inconvenienced", sure there were some ongoing works that effected less than 10% of the ship, so the 50% value is very fair.

I understand what some might say they were sold an unfinished ship, but we paid final payments before the unfinished bits became apparent, so what we were sold was the intention of a finished ship.

Royal have accepted they have not achieved the standard they set for themselves and offered a FFC payment accordingly.

I fail to understand why anyone would not happily use the FCC.

I also ask how many might have changed their mind and cancelled the booked cruise had they been made aware of the small situations in advance, I suspect very few.

We personally were not really effected by any serious situation and have been lucky enough to stay on board for the sailing down to Barcelona, which has been with any incident. As such am grateful to Royal for recognizing the small inconveniences we did notice on the first sailings, Therefore Royal is still my preferred cruise line, and I will be happy to spend my FCC on my already booked Harmony TA.

    Really??

If I had been seriously inconvenienced on that cruise, RCI would lose all my future cruise business.

One good thing is they have now admitted in writing that the ship was not ready - more ammo for the lawyers.
