  1. Did you book Glacier Taxi & Tours on your own? That is a good price for people that have the pass.
  2. Stick to something warmer. I don't think they show outside movies on the ships that sail Alaska. I know Celebrity and HAl don't. I get chilly easily and always dress for it, especially out on the water.
  3. Thanks. Looks small. 😉 Glad I have seen Glacier Bay. Different day, different experience. Have you done the small boat excursion?
  4. Bring waterproof: rain jacket, pant and shoes. Gloves, hat, and long underwear. Layer poly, knit or wool next to your skin. Follow with warmth and then rain protection. Jean/pants/, long sleeve/short sleeve shirts. Sweater or fleece too. Some people bring shorts and a swimsuit. Don't forget something for dressy nights if you wish to eat in the main dining rooms. Nice pants, top, or dress. Flip flops and another shoe for day/evening. Can bring dressy shoe if want.
  5. I could do that, then cancel my appt. which I already made. I have the government issued ones and have read about going online to get those supervised. Just don't want to leave the ship and be testing at the airport in some corner. I do everything on a laptop or pc.
  6. This is good news. Our cabin on the Apex is 6215 up from the elevator. Is this cabin exposed to the elevators? It looks like 2 on one side and another 2 facing these.
  7. That would be terrible for someone to steal another person's tablet. Geeze. If you can afford to cruise you can afford a darn tablet. Take the minimum to the pool.
  8. When I booked my upcoming cruise last year, Celebrity said they would be testing anyone who needed it to fly back to their country. It would be free if you booked before November 2021. If not, they were going to charge whatever the testing place would charge. Now we get handed a test, and may have to pay for it. SMH I'll arrange my own near the pier.
  9. You can pretty much cancel anything, dining or shore excursion and rebook. Whatever the payment was, it will go back. Shore excursions may be 24 hours notice.
  10. Be sure and download Murray's guide for your drive. We rented from Avis in 2018. Glad their service is still good!!
  11. We liked the Auberge. It was close enough for us to wheel our luggage down the slight hill. From the room we had, we could see our ship coming into Canda Place. You enter this hotel through a lobby that houses an upscale pool/fitness place also.
  12. I can tell you who not to book with. Any 3rd party, like Viator. Decide what you want and then look at companies that provide that tour. If your look through CC there are many recommendations on certain tours. I contacted them directly before I cruised. There are booths dock side, but if you are wanting something popular don't wait.
  13. Alav's Fish n Chowder Ketchikan Small place with wooden booths. No atmosphere. Alaska Fish & Chips Juneau Ordered at the trailer, sat outside above the float plane dock. Sweet Mermaids baked goods/coffee Ketchikan. My neighbor said Alaskan Fish House is good. It is fancier than Alav's.
  14. Not when we sailed Volendam back in Aug 2018. Too chilly for shorts. People were respectable. Not like what I see when I go to Walmart.
  15. I think it is Allen Marine. I was on one of their vessels up Tracy Arm and it was nice. The weather was too. I am fine with a bigger boat if there is enough room to move around. I am using an on-board credit. That helps if it is bad.
  16. I wore flip flops to get my early morning coffee on my last Alaska cruise. It was on HAL, but pretty sure Celebrity cruisers will be dressing the same. Never saw any shorts. Plenty of jeans and casually dressed up for dinner. Gala night, or fancy night saw more dressing up, but not like the old days of cruising when men wore suits and/or tuxes.
  17. I agree. As the post grows so do the insensitive comments. I know that they are not meant to hurt. People tend to get carried away.
  18. Aloha. We are booked on a whale watch through Celebrity. Do you know the company who took you out? I hear ya about being out in the open, like whale watching in Hawaii.
  19. Vancouver R/T in 2018. Doing a southbound Seward to Vancouver 2022. Choose your itinerary then your ship. When I booked this upcoming trip, I figured we would be back to normal. Whatever that is???
  20. Hard sided Samsonite for us. It will scratch, but won't dent.
  21. Sounds good. I looked at the site and could not tell how fast you get the results with the tele-med. Do you happen to know?
  22. Is everyone going to one specific company to use the government test kits? I want to use ours.
  23. I would pick up the car as early as possible. We did. You won't save any money on the rental by picking it up later, as you pay for 1 day anyway. Avis is very reliable in Skagway.
  24. Your information was very helpful. Your political comment is boorish.
