$100 per couple and has nearly $100 in extras...photo, flowers, cocktails, champagne & specialty coffee drinks. :D$50 per person and we have had as many as 8 at one dinner.
Mike:)
Thank you for your quick replies.
Obviously something to be done as a surprise on our upcoming Diamond Princess cruise to Singapore.
Ssssh dont tell her!
-
I am aware of the saying "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it" however I am still interested in the cost of an Ultimate Balcony Dinner.
Can anyone oblige?

Ours is Alaska...which we are doing 9/14/2014....want to scratch it off and move on to the next item on the list.
I bet you'll put it back on your list to do a second time!!

Thanks for the info. Is the ship in good condition? I think it's scheduled to get re-done shortly after our cruise. One review said it was nice. Hope so.
We sailed on her a year ago and she was just great. We sail on her again in 5 weeks up to Singapore on her last cruise before her refit.

I have an iPone 4s and on a recent cruise I did not realise that the phone was connecting to the ships system even though I was in on a New Zealand plan and we were cruising around NZ.
So even though we were in a NZ port the phone connected to the ship and I came home to an unexpected additional account for $60.
I wont be turning the thing on when I am on the ship in future!!!!

Thanks everyone. It looks as though we won't go thirsty after all.
I intend to drop off our luggage and then collect some wine before we check in.
Thanks again

Please can someone tell me the nearest wine outlet to the OPT in Sydney and instructions to get there.
Many thanks.

If you go to Russell, consider taking a short tour with Russell Tours. They operate a mini bus and take you to interesting places that are not within walking distance of the pier. (No I'm not on commission)
Some points about Russell:-
It was New Zealands first capital.
Used as a base during the whaling days and during those days the entire waterfront was either pubs or brothels.
The Duke of Marlborough was the first licenced hotel in NZ and still holds "Licence No 1".
A small town with a BIG atmosphere.
Enjoy.

I am sure the spelling is wrong, but I wonder what ship Maritzio is on. He has been in the Crooners Bar on other Princess ships.
He was on Sun Princess for our cruise in November. I guess he'll still be there.
A great artiste for sure!

After e mails going to and fro to Carnival in Sydney and getting a copy of my folio showing the disputed purchase, I was able to show them that the charge was made 6 hours AFTER I disembarked in Auckland!!
As I said before, it wasn't the value involved, but it does show you need to double check everything.
-
Did you perhaps purchase photos on the last morning, after your folio had been closed? We did that once and they were charged to our credit card separately.
Hi avcruz, no we didn't make any purchases after I had settled the account.
-
They do that because your steward will sometimes say your mini bar was not complete.
I appreciate that but we are "elite" and therefore no charges apply (we didn't have extra drinks)
Thanks for the comment anyway riclop.

On recent NZ cruise on Sun Princess I paid my account off on the evening before deembarkation. On the morning of deembarkation we received a zero balance account in our "mail box" outside the door.
I was very surprised to find a charge to my credit card of $16 made by Princess on my CC statement when it came through.
I have twice e mailed Carnival Australia but not had a satisfactory reply from Princess in Australia.
It is not that it is a large amount but if everyone was charged an extra like this the amount would be considerable.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

The Taiarei Gorge railway in Dunedin is rated one of the top rail journeys in the world. We really enjoyed it. If you book thro Princess the train comes to the dock. If you book privately you have to make your way to the station. Worth investigating.

You can usually take food off the ship everywhere with some exceptions. United States is one of them. They will announce it and it will be written in the Patter, if in fact it is disallowed. No untoward instructions means you do what you want.
Definitely not in New Zeaand and Australia. They have sniffer dogs that can detect food. (But food is as safe in Australasia as it is anywhere!!!!)

The decorating team were boarding Sun Princess in Auckland last Sunday as we got off.
They certainly do a great job.
Will never forget the "real" snow on Diamond, with her snow making machines in the top of the Atrium!

Agree. One piece of advice is bring clothing/ umbrella for wet weather. NZ is known locally as the 'land of the long white cloud'. As such they have high rainfall in lots of areas of NZ. Milford Sound gets 17 metres (54 feet) of rain per year.:D
Should read 7m per year, but that's still a lot of rain!!!!!

I look at it a great way to pass a few hours on a sea day. Free Champagne and a show. Sit at the back and you get to see the "plants".IMHO
And a great place to "people watch" with a free drink!
-
Takes Aussie notes OK. All denominations I think.
-
There is nothing wrong with Pacific Pearl or her crew. It is the passengers who stuff it up!
-
Sun P has been in Auckland today. Next time she visits AKL we will be boarding her. Can't wait!
-
Same with us Yvonne. I showed our travel agent the relevant CC thread and she forewarded it to Carnival but no good. Comment made was "maybe it's a North American thing"
On the thought that if you do not ask you do not get I e mailed the Australian Princess office and asked about this free cruise offer - She knew nothing about it and asked where I had got this stupid information from?So obviously no chance for us down under:(:(:(

This can't be a serious posting!!!!
of all the ridiculous and stupid things that people do this one would stand out as bizarre, idiotic and completely ridiculous. The mind boggles just to think of why people do it, what goes through their mind and exactly what planet or parallel universe they are living in.The ships engines and generators can only produce so much power. All power has to be accounted for and allocated to services. Just because a ship can produce its own power does not mean it has an endless supply that people can bring power boards into their cabin to power up every device known to man, woman and child.
Its a safety issue and power boards could cause a major problem to the safety and well being of all passengers. Just think of the consequences if some fool overloaded these things, tried to drain too much power and caused a major electrical fire.
You may be able to plug your toaster, kettle, ipad, chargers into convenient places at home but this is a cruise ship and not the place for heavy duty devices.
Of all the ridiculous things to read and all the foolish things people take about without putting any thought into their actions and consequences there of this here would have to be right up there. The mind boggles as to what kind of people actually exist in this world and how on earth they manage to survive.
Power boards on cruise ships - what next! Unbelievable and completely unbelievable that anyone would think they could actually take them!

No, sorry I can't enlighten you. All I know is that after we all get off, on 12th March, she goes in to dry dock in Singapore. I would guess that she is being Japanised ready for her summer catering for the Asian customers. The Sun Princess was given the same treatment back in September and they will both be operating out of Singapore. The Sun had a Sushi restaurant introduced, the Horizon Court buffet completely refitted and most of the public areas refurbished.
