  1. My husband & I and another couple did this trip in November 2015. I would not do Vietnam/Cambodia any other way. For us the land/river tour by AMA was awesome, full of so many experiences that I am sure we would not have encountered doing it any other way.

We specifically chose Viking because part of their Land tour includes HaLong Bay which is absolutely beautiful. A site not to be missed and should definitely be seen before Disney completes their park.

  2. I have the Chase card but thankfully have never had to file a claim. I do buy medical ins (annual) which is Geoblu as medical is not covered with Chase. In addition, I purchase an annual Medjet assist policy because I want to have control as to where I am treated if anything real serious happen. Both annual policies for my husband and I cost about $800 for the year-- a lot less than ind ins policies bought for just 1 very expensive trip.

  3. We arrived 2 days prior to the start of our tour. I loved Hanoi. Instead of paying the outrageous prices of the Sofitel, we stayed at the Oriental Suites in the Old Quarter for $55 a night. (breakfast included) The hotel staff was amazing.

LOved ha Long Bay. we were lucky that the first day we arrived it was sunny. There was a beautiful sunset that evening. The next morning, it began as a cloudy day and by the time we left the caves, it started to rain.

On the Amalotus, it was open seating.

As for bringing gifts for kids, I would stray against that as there are so many and you don't want to leave any out. The best thing you can do is purchase pencils, markers and paper to leave with the teachers at the school.

  4. We leave for our AMA land river tour early November. We sent our passports to Vietnam embassy and they were returned within a week. Had to get a multi entry visa.

Since we start in Hanoi and fly to Cambodia we are waiting to get our visas for Cambodia at the airport.

  5. Thinking about doing the Elbe river cruise in late September.(2016) Is there a better time of yr due to water level?

Also wanting to do Prague to Berlin. Is one direction better than the other.

  6. Just returned from a 10 day Baltic cruise. Klaipeda was one of our stops. We decided to do a private tour of the Curonian Spit. We used Cruise klaipedia. Our tour was reasonably priced. There were 8 of us in a large van/bus and we paid 49E each. Our guide, Victoria, was extremely knowledgeable. The Curonian Spit is very beautiful and a good way to spend your time when in Klaipeda.

  7. Just came back from a baltic cruise. The only museum one had to check bags larger than a purse was at Peterholf. However, there was no consistency here. I was able to carry my tote, but another couple with us had to check theirs.Of course there was no charge. I also remember that we had to do it at one of the places in Copenhagen. You did get your kroner back. Hope this helps.

  8. HEllo,

I will be arriving by cruise ship on a Tues. morning at Frihamen. There are 4 of us.

    1. Would it be easy getting a taxi for all of us to take us to our hotel?

    2. If we took the T baum from Zinkensdamm to centralen, how many zones would that be and how much would it cost?

    3. # of zones from T baum from Zinkensdamm to Vassa and cost?

Debating whether to buy the coupon book of 16 tickets to share with my wife or get the travel card. We are walkers.

    4. If we buy the travel card, we would most likely take Tbaum to hotel near Zinkensdamm from cruise terminal. If we do that where would we buy the travel card?

Looking at many options. Thanks for your help

  9. Hello Danish Viking,

Thank you for all your advice thus far. I have a question.

I know Tivoli is an amusement park and much more. I am wanting to visit it, but need your advice. Based upon earlier comments, it seems Tivoli is a place to go to at night. We will be arriving on Thursday june 25. We leave Saturday on a cruise. i know we will be too tired to visit it the evening we arrive. However, on Friday evening there is a concert. Will this impact our visit even though we really want to go at night?

What do you suggest we do while at Tivoli. Is there one standard admission or is it based upon what you do?

Thank you for your suggestion. It is valued.

    Carol

  10. Thanks for all the responses. Roaming Kiwi, we are doing the land/river tour with Amawaterways. Almost the same itinerary as yours. So it appears that I will have the opportunity to ride an elephant. If you have any other tips about this cruise, they would be greatly appreciated.
