  1. I think as soon as I am on my own (how sad! :(), I will revert to my plan-in-advance ways. See, I am the Disney freak of the family. Our vacations are typically cruising, Disney, or skiing. We've been doing Disney the longest, though. I serve as the TA for the family, booking our dining reservations and deciding what parks to do what days. I also have like a ten-year plan of my life (okay, a bit of an exaggeration). But everyone else in my family lives on island time! :D And that's why you'll never see them here on CC!

I knew there was a reason I've been enjoying your review. Hey Dis'er!! It takes one to know one!!! Loving your review. We're planning a huge Disney trip 2013 - Grandparents, 7 siblings and nieces and nephews! It's going to be a hoot!! I'm the super extraordinaire planner. I've already started planning. :D

    Enjoying your review!!

  2. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!

Girl they know that is NOT cornbread. I'm at work reading this review and nearly fell out of my chair when you referenced what they refer to as cornbread. And after you take them on an Atlanta tour, I'll take them to TX and make them some hot water cornbread. My auntie makes the best in town. LOL!!

If they tried and served that with a pot of greens they would be kindly escorted away. LOL!!!:D

  3. Thanks for the review. I spent the morning reading this review instead of filing sales taxes at work. LOL! :D

I haven't seen full service gas stations since I left my hometown in Hutchinson, KS 1986. At first, I didn't understand what you were saying until I kept reading the thread. WOW! So is the gas priced higher in NJ because of the full service or do you just tip the service person? Is every station full service - like 7-11, Chevron, Exxon, Shell, etc? Do you have Walmart and Costco gas stations? Are they full service as well? I guess you can tell I'm intrigued by full service.

Thanks for the book recommendation. I'm looking for a new author and reasons to purchase the color nook. I'm trying to talk myself into purchasing one. It would be a simple download right here at my desk instead of me having to write down the author and title. Remember to take it w/ me to the book store. Drive to the book store and remember that I wrote the author and title down on a post it. It's a lime green post it today. Find the book and purchase it. Yep, I think more and more I need to invest in the color nook. Now it's an investment. LOL!! Boy, the things we say to convince ourselves to indulge in our guilty pleasures. LOL!!!

    Thanks again for the review.

  4. Kcarp, I just put our dates in on the Continental website and the price was 585 per person non-stop from Newark to Honolulu. Of course that is for coach. I was really surprised how cheap it was. That is really reasonable.

That is a really good price. We paid around $750 DFW to HNL for our trip in June. I started looking at airfare in Nov 2009, it started at $600 as time when by the price increased to over $800. When it finally dropped to $750 I took it.

  5. I sailed with Jen ~ she writes extremely detailed reviews and she is soo sweet!! I didn't go to the code lunch with them but if memory serves me it was a "clue" game about the ship - people work in teams to crack the "code" and then a special lunch in Portofino (?)

Correction: It's called the Liberty Code not the the Cruise Code. Above is what someone wrote about the game "Liberty Code".

  6. WaaHoo I'm finally going back on my fav cruise line - LOS 10/17/10!!! I am so excited. I started reading through the all things LOS thread - got to page 5, I know I have a ways to go, found Jen's detailed review - perused through it and I'm about to explode with excitement.

And the price is GREAT for a balcony cabin. $1500ish for two. Time to find the roll call and let the planning begin.

  7. OK - I'm thinking now that I should have booked a land tour. B.L.O.T - I didn't have enough vacation days and this is just to get my feet wet and give me a reason to book a two week trip next time. LOL!

Day one - DFW to Seattle. Hotel near airport.

Day two - Board the Golden Princess and make myself familiar with the buffet and dining rooms

Day three - sea day - Enjoy the spa

Day four - Juneau - salmon bake or Mendenhall Glacier and Gardens Tour or the MGE Express bus to Mendenhall Glacier, Mt. Roberts Tram

Day five - Skagway - train and rail - I haven't decided long or short trip. I'm leaning towards short trip.

Day six - Glacier viewing - Tracy Arm Fjord - CAMERA, BINOCULARS, BLANKET AND HOT COCOA. A day on my balcony.

Day seven - Ketchikan - Rain forest ropes and zip line

Day eight - Victoria - walk the town and maybe tea.

Day nine - Diembark. Tour Seattle - Duck tour. Late flight back to DFW.

Day ten - sleep and recuperate from vacation

Day 11 - Back to reality. Pretend to work but really spend the day uploading pictures and preparing slideshow with remarks on all of the pictures. Email my friends about my wonderful cruise to Alaska and start planning my 2009 Hawaii summer vacation.

Day 12 - Work for real and start reading the gazillion emails in my inbox.
