Sad to admit, but I take many meds.  Too many to just put them in a 7 day container and I don't want have more than one 7 day container.  So I just keep them in their original containers, put them in a large baggie and keep them with me in my carry on.  I just feel more comfortable doing it this way

Most of us frequent cruisers are of the age where we take three to five rounds of pills each day and take a bundle of those SMTWTHS pill boxes along! Thank G-d we lived long enough to require a little help.

Have had high blood pressure since 2015.  Not had a single problem at either customs or on the cruise ship with having meds in a per day dispenser.  Not in a couple of land based overseas vacation, either.  I do carry a photocopy of the label with me in case something happens.  But the original bottles are three month supplies from Express Scrips, and I would think traveling with that large an amount would actually be a bigger problem.

We left the number needed for the trip (plus a few extra) in the original containers, and left the remainder at home. So while the containers are large, they are not loaded or heavy.

We buy ours at Walmart.  64 cents for the large bottle of their brand, sweetened with aspartame and still bitter, no sweet taste at all.

Never realized that tonic water had so many calories.  Vodka is my primary liquor of choice and I've recently been ordering Vodka tonic's. Not anymore.

Vodka soda's (club soda) for me now.

    Dan

Some brands use saccharine (Safeway, Vons, I think Canada Dry.) Soda Stream uses Splenda. I pay attention because I cannot have Aspartame.

  4. We are on that ship. Captain announced at 9 a.m. that there was a man overboard and that is why we are circling instead of proceeding forward.

    Helicopters are circling.

Some people heard an announcement at 5 a.m. requesting that a passenger from room xxxx call a phone extension because family was looking for him. That was only broadcast in public areas not into staterooms and I slept through it.

    Very sad.

"A rescue mission is underway for an elderly man that went overboard on a cruise ship bound for Victoria Tuesday morning.

The United States Coast Guard Pacific Northwest said on Twitter the Captain of the Seven Seas Mariner confirmed a ship video showed the 73-year-old man jumped from a balcony on the eighth deck of the vessel around 4:15 a.m.

The ship was off Cape Flattery on the northwest tip of Washington at the mouth of the Strait of Juan de Fuca when the incident occurred.

The coast guard says the man’s wife last saw him around 4 a.m., saying she was woken up around 4:30 a.m. by a breeze coming from the balcony door that was cracked open.

The Coast Guard’s 13th District in Seattle expects the rescue mission to be for most of the day.

The U.S. Coast Guard has one ship, the Cutter Wahoo from Station Neah Bay, and an air crew from Port Angeles responding.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria says it is assisting with air assets.

The Seven Seas Mariner was scheduled to arrive at Ogden Point at 1:00 p.m., but is now scheduled for an 11 a.m. arrival."

  5. Which sailing will you be on? I also love dressing up a bit.

quote=Dido1972;56279470]Thank you so much for your advice! We have plenty of time in Vancouver, so I think we'll be heading for the terminal before noon.

I'm still wondering: what does embarkation at 5 pm really mean? I'm so glad I asked your advice. I expected something like the boarding process at the airport, so I was planning to head for the terminal around 4.30 pm. We probably would have been on time, but it would have been a surprise to see everyone else on board already :-)

Next dillema: shiny dresses or normal dresses? Since Regent is a luxury line, I was hoping that everyone would dress up for dinner. However, there seem to be lots of people who prefer to dress more casual. Well, there's no such thing as overdressed, so I think I'll just pack my shiny dresses. If you're on the same cruise, you'll recognize me quite easily! :-)

  6. Yes, jeans are the norm in the daytime.

    :p

quote=zhuskers1;56277919]Sailing on Mariner next week from Anchorage to Victoria.

Thanks to input from this board we have a solid understanding of the evening dres code on Mariner.

Question - Is there a dress code during the day if you stay on the ship or during days at sea (cruising the icy straight)?

Are jeans acceptable during the day? If not what do most people wear? Thanks in advance!!

  7. We have always done our laundry ourselves every other day, just as we do at home. Only once, on a Holland America ship where we had a top suite did we have free laundry by the steward. Either way is fine with me. On non-Med cruises on Regent who gets included laundry services (as opposed to self service)? This time we have a better cabin than usual because there was a three category upgrade.
