  1. My three year old son was hit by a female pickpocket in Disneyland. So they are everywhere! He had done so many chores for that $20 and insisted he keep it in his pocket. I know he was pickpocketed because a mother came up to me and told me a lady snagged $20 from his pocket. She was gone in a flash! We were holding hands and walking along together when this happened. The nerve of some people. That was 15 years ago!

Ouch....and he had earned it....maybe he can design a money belt for kiddos...:o.

  2. Congrats...and I have gone back to long hair I dye and trim myself!! I definitley wan to have someone else put it up and curl it my next cruise...I love the old French roll look...with a few more curls. ( see hidden updo def. lol.)

I also love that look we used to call...some of it up and some of it down..LOL.

I think most are petty happy with the services.

  3. Holy crap! I know her!

I grew up 7 miles from Interlaken. My first job was working for her family :( They are some of the nicest people you could ever meet.

    I am not kidding

    RIP :(

Blessings and prayers...it is a gift, your comments here, to the family...so sorry for your loss...RIP.

I mean it...the order of the way you said things will mean the world...all compassion does...and you said it before you knew, they had a wonderful employee to start out in life.

  4. Glasses repair kit is a good one, I keep one in my make up organizer that I take traveling. I had a screw pop out of my glasses the other day, the one that held my lens in. Luckily I was home so not a big deal. Would have been a pain if it happened on the ship and I didn't have a tiny screwdriver to put it back in or lost the screw and needed another.

Thanks....it has been a while and I need to make a fresh mini pack with these little items in a small ziplock. I need to heed all the good advice and have had too many car trips in between.

Also, if you have reached a point in life where for better or worse you have a vitamin and several Rx regimes; I found a small padded lunch carry bag for a buck at a thrift store. Everything pill and vitamin wise go in there for every day and travel. Those large seven day things are good for not too may rx's but if you need them, get stalled, you have it all in the right bottles and yes it is the space of a bit of my carry on but it it is all there..at home and away and a grab and go when traveling here. I can easily sort and keep it all up to date this way. Sometimes I take the vitamins in a big seven day deal separate from rx and bandaid etc. bag if on a phase when taking a lot more vitamins/supplements. Those vitamin bottles are insane...

  5. Well I think OP wanted a list...lol..not a minimize it...although it is the way now.

If you wear glasses a repair kit..all items already mentioned you can decide...water shoes for feet if doing alot in ocean and if you are doing pool and ocean a LOT..2 suits so one is dry. Remember to take one bottle of wine and one 12 pack of pop each if you take extra drinks...pop bottles or any other beverage in bottles no longer allowed. They have very cheap bottled water on the ship now. Enough sunscreen and aloe or after sun for trip and burns. Shampoo and conditioner and soap if you need it..they have just shampoo and bodywash on shower wall...everyone's mileage varies on how it works for them. If you only carrey on; on the plane..plan a little quick stop there before cruise or just minimize and simplify. I would need more sunscreen and after sun than all that fits in allowed ziplock bag on carrey on. I am so darn fair and the sun did it too me in 30 minutes on deck on my one Caribbean cruise...even more than Hawaii.

  6. Follow cruzndeb's clarification. OP is fine. The 2 passengers are old enough. LOL the comprehension challenge I do get..but we are all hilarious reading down the list.

I really vote for the Vista...lots of options, new ship, I also prefer Eastern but OP knows if he would like those ports for the ocean activities etc.

I think the guys will really like the not extra charge different dining choices as well as splurging at a for fee restaurant. Vista has it all...and more entertainment too in the Red Frog Pub and other venues. Comedy, Karaoke, outdoor movies, etc. etc. This ship will have best of the staff too making it a "fun" experience and he knows Carnival so it will be comfortable but a NEW and many more places on the ship experience. Folks rave about the ship.

PS..Also it has more fun outside rides etc.

  7. God bless all. True sailors now. Prayers and "Pride". Everyone who really cruises a ton from east coast gets this. My cruise friend TA in sales and sails only luxury now and well earned for her; had a trip with same route on the old Dreamward "?" NCL and water came in her upper deck balcony cabin. God bless you guys.

  8. I understand the souls that have the mentality of the gamble. One can definitely say it is a "crock" and it is playing on our fears...the insurance industry does. However, like everything, it is not perfect and the learning side of a bill you can not handle when your body needs the help is awful. This is when you want the "royal flush" or whatever in your hand. I am not a big gambler, lol.

One rarely learns the easy way. There is help here to do so with insurance and travel.

  9. yes!

Yes, it is. From what I've learned here at Cruise Critic; don't get it through Carnival. There are lots of loopholes in their product. (From what I gather). I've used www.insuremytrip.com the past 4 years and have that piece of mind. I did this because my mom with Alzheimers was still with us but not for long. I wanted the ability to be covered in case I had to get back to the city for an unplanned emergency. Mom is with dad and the angels now but, I still invest the small amount in case of my own health or hurricanes as I now cruise right after Labor Day which is ground zero for hurricane activity. Go to their website. they compare and contrast a plethora of plans from the famous insurance companies. The best thing is so far not having to use it and I hope this streak continues![/font

I so agree. It has been awhile since I have traveled out of country and i believe they and several sites are ones to talk to..and you need reminders.

The issue about needing upfront money for a surgery in Bahamas scared me, but i am sure they go over that...some will pay now and them reimburse with your health company etc. issues. You have to read fine print and then ask questions.

My parents did not need theirs on their last big trip with my niece..a cruise. But it all started the day my mother got home and she was gone in a month.

We all need to consider, even living in many areas with fairly good small hospitals; insurance when med evac is even necessary at home; and sadly sometimes repatriation of remains I believe is how it is put. My mom had 2 life flights, one in and one out of state and passed out of state.

My dad has beefed up his air ambulance coverage since hassles he had with mom for his daughters God bless him..but there are still details and snags we have to remember to ask...He is of course medicare with the extra rider plans most get and need in my book.

Somebody pays in some way without medical insurance. The system is far from perfect but my 20's are long gone..no more travel out of state without a beef-up in coverage or serious what-if calls before exit. It is a LONG road to the end. I hope..lol.

  10. Yeah..I love they are not tossing the Fantasy class....and redoing cabins as they go. These can be very special solo travel ships..and really because not the "coolest and latest" you get some great salt of the earth people that do it all...they go fancier too..they just like the size and service level. what used to be large is now small...and special to me for what you pay as a solo if you shop well. Thanks Jimbo..this is so cool.

  11. You guys will LOVE this.

Literally walking out the door to the airport, and my wife gets to "get to the hospital" call.

Hahah. Had to take all my stuff out of the suitcase and pack another one.

I'm on my way to Cali, and she's on her way to Waco. [emoji23]

LOL...you have some real fans here.....travel safe!!!!

  12. Tis sad..the political situation and a dream port with so many discoveries desired for many of us..sorry OP. It is a better safe than sorry deal I suppose more and more..not sure. Prayers for our world.

Agree with person that said either way..Europe is a big trip..if seeing a lot of places fast. Pros and cons the cruise way but the packing every night and suitcase at door by 6 or 7 tours..whoa do not want right now. Either want to be in one place with day trips or a cruise now...

Enjoy the ship...everyone says she is just new different and wonderful.

  13. I am confused about having to have all the cash for an emergency surgery/care until they can get you home...that could be more than many have depending on cost...I will call IMTDC..but does anyone have any clarity?

For instance...56..have my personal med insurance..when 65 medicare...how does this work? You need surgery in say 4 hrs...Just can't believe all friends being there with credit cards in earlier example??!!

    thanks....

PS I get the insurance...best I can figure...but have no memory what i had when young..I suppose school insurance and travel agent helped with grand tours insurance.

Sometimes...last minute sore throat or something worse is deemed out the insurance covering for what ever reason insurance...I forget the exact deal on that one..thanks for comments. Every darn time I need review.

So my question is do they do the medical needs with personal regular medical or travelers medical with medicare and special traveler medical travel insurance get done without all cash in most countries? How much credit do you need to have with you?

I suppose one needs to research all countries visiting and discuss with insurer each time. Father time is affecting noggin this AM. Thanks to anyone who tackles this.

  14. Thank you for review. Sorry abt the one dinner, I think they hold firm to times and reservation types to get all out and next group in..you sound like you take it in stride and have great travel rhythm. Paradise was my first Carnival cruise..I have only been on one other so far but I do think the numbers and service add to what the not as many bells whistles take away. I felt way more pampered and the service at a 10 top with rotating singles was awesome...you were a "special VIP" and it was spoiled feeling with tablecloth (lol) and holding your bottles of wine for next meal. Thanks for great review I have many little plans in my head of enjoying new to me places and taking a Fantasy class ship when price is right. I also sure can handle some repeats like Orlando. Great review.

  15. Thanks so much for such a pretty review. Proof that short getaways can be perfect..especially when you know longer ones are coming. As time moves along...all the old decor is more and more different and fun..I like the new too..but appreciate the uniqueness. Sounds like the ship people and entertainers were great along with an nice cabin and really appreciating everything and having fun together with minimal planning..that Colonial Hilton JUST LOOKS FABULOUS. Glad mom is ok and super glad the cruise had that kind of camaraderie, all is well, mellow ending..that was special.

Thanks so much for doing this!! Happy next time...

  16. The third hit in the link referenced the FB page originally referenced. (At least on my I phone browser).

I realize I came of as a jerk on this one and I apologize. I was responding to a post that seemed pretty critical of OP for not providing a link.

This more than takes care of it....we are all human here...sure is cool when people can do this and it is great for CC to say nothing of good modeling for humanity.

Looking forward to your continued good travel stories....Sarah.

Grateful to learn more about it all from our engineer.

  17. Sorry OP..must be a special sibling and relationship.....

    Wow..you got your friends...

I think you will make more money and be able to travel more...

Pollyanna for the both of you here...

Enjoy next trip...sounds like a wedding and baby phase with your group...lasts around 15 years at this level...lol...Be well...Sarah

  18. It is asked as a visitor post on John Heald's page at about 6pm PT. Here is the reply from Mischelle: "Preliminary reports indicate a small fire that involved a guest stateroom balcony and was quickly extinguished. Guests were advised of the situation and all operations on board are proceeding normally at this time. - Mischelle"

    Thank you. Good news!!!:)
