  1. Follow-up questions...

1- Is there any way to get a map/table layout of NOS's main dining room?

2- Does anyone know if there are any tables by the window on NOS that are easily accessible with a wheelchair?

3- Since I would be asking about wheelchair accessibility in the MDR, should I also email special needs or leave them out of this particular issue?

For the most part, the rcldining@rccl.com email has been very responsive.  Only a couple of times have I not received a response within a few days.  I would not send them an email much in advance of 3 weeks prior to the cruise.  I think they have to put this aside for a while and this might be why it sometimes falls through the cracks.

Thanks.   I read somewhere that emailing closer to sail date was definitely a better idea.  I wanted to email them ahead of time to ask about table location in the MDR.  I know most people do it the first day, but my mom is in a wheelchair, so getting her through the crowds and down there will be difficult.  Also, 1 out of 4 of us will be pushing her, and the other 2 will be juggling everyone's carry-ons.  I want to make sure we are put at a table that we can get to with the wheelchair without having to squeeze through the tables and chairs.

  3. I got a PDF copy of a Cruise Vacation Receipt with my confirmation emails after booking online.  We like traditional dining and chose the 6pm seating.  On the receipt, there is a line "Dining (Wait-list):", and under each passenger, it says "6:00pm()".  Does this mean I am confirmed for main seating?  I will try to attach a photo, but in case it doesn't work, I wanted to describe as best I could.IMG_20190901_184602114_MP.thumb.jpg.d5d39d174ca20c6bb1bdd83b3729fd3c.jpg

  4. There are too many pages to scroll through, so, sorry if this has been asked.  How close to a cruise sail date can we have access to the booking on the app?  My sailing is January 13, 2020 and the app tells me I can't look into the reservation until closer to departure.

  5. Someone here mentioned seeing if a nurse would be onboard, and that got me thinking...do they have Good Samaritan Laws at sea?  Do they go by whatever state the ship departs from?  Do they go by wherever the company is based out of?  Also, are there laws that cover non-emergency assistance?  As a nurse, I would want to help, but not at the risk of my license or a lawsuit.

For those saying she needs to learn how to do it, if she lives somewhere where self-injection is not allowed, than learning how to do it is not necessary, because she isn't allowed to do it anyway.  Besides, if it is not allowed, her doctors, nurses, etc. are most likely not going to teach her.  Also, depending on what type of injection it is, and the patient's condition, she may not be physically able to give it to herself.

I think even Cruise Critic members who are medical professionals would need more details before giving any advice or suggestions.  For example, what type of injection is it?  What are the patient's physical limitations, if any?  Does the patient have any specific parameters to go by when using this medication?

Speaking with the cruise line ahead of time is a good idea, but as we all know, you can speak with 5 different people and get 5 different answers.  The patient needs to be prepared for all possibilities.

If you go into "Order History" you will see everything you purchased and/or scheduled.  You can also go into "My Calendar" and it will show you what your ordered/schedule and what port you are in each day.

If you go into Shore Excursions, you can see all the excursions offered each day.

Thanks.  I didn't order or schedule anything yet.  I am just a big nerd who gets excited seeing my cruise's basic info/.

Clamshells are on South Beach and I think you can reserve them in the Cruise Planner.  Not positive since we don't do that,  but I think you can.

Other than in the restaurants/bars, not sure I have seen regular upright chairs on the beach.  All I have ever seen is loungers.  You could maybe grab one of the beach wheelchairs for her to sit in.  Tons of shade either with umbrellas which are all over and/or trees.

Thanks. I didn't see them in the cruise planner, but then again, I'm still getting used to the look of the website.

  8. Is there an area on the website when looking into my upcoming cruise where I can see basic info such as itinerary, dining time selected, etc.?  All I see when I log in is the cruise planner with things that I can purchase.  Is this the kind of info that is really only available with my cruise documents (which are still about 50 days away from being available)?

Also, can we still download a shore excursion booklet?  I used to be able to...many moons ago.  I am not liking the way the website looks, and I think it would be easier to see the excursions in booklet form.  I understand a booklet would not provide updated availability, but I'm not looking for that.  I just want to know what is possibly available to look into.

  9. Can those beach loungers (the ones with the "clamshell") be reserved ahead of time online or is it just when you get to the beach?  I can't find any info on them when logged onto RCI and am looking at my upcoming cruise.  Also, which part(s) of the island are these loungers available on?

Are there any beach areas in which there are more regular/upright chairs mixed with loungers, preferably semi-shaded?  I know some cabanas have them, but they are too expensive for us for our cruise. My mom is a bit older and does not like the lounger chairs.  She prefers sitting up.

If you mean VIsa points redemptions, I apply those to cruises booked with a travel agent all the time.

Yes.  Those points.  I know some travel agents get discounts, and those can't be combined.  I've never gotten any special rates with my usual TA, but I know others have.  It's ok.  I'll just keep an eye out.

Maybe one of our resident travel agents could look on their site for your stateroom.

I'm gonna be applying a redeemed cruise reward to this sailing, so I'm pretty sure I have to book with Royal so there are no special rates or anything else that can't be combined.  Besides, if the muster station thing is set in stone, then I wouldn't be able to get this room anyway.

Makes sense.   I would guess that the attempt to book on the other site would fail, or would be cancelled very quickly.

Glad you knew what I was saying.  I wasn't sure if I was clear.  I tried asking Royal Caribbean about it, but so far no solid answers.  Darn!  It would have been a great cabin.
