Just got back from Maui today. I'll post in day or two.
thank you

The Caribbean Christmas storm had some bad issues for St Vincent, St Lucia and Dominica. I read reports that it was worse than Hurricane Tomas'. Anybody on a cruise to those islands?
-
Now it is getting to be the time to figure out which part of the beach to plop our butts on. I am thinking sort of close to Whalers Village.
What are the prices?
What do you get for your money?
2 chairs? Table? umbrella?
Beach not too crowded?
Close to restaurants and toilets?
Good swimming? Not too many rocks?
An early exploration seems that Whalers Condo might work.
Opinions Please.
Pictures?
Thanks to all.

I enjoy a variety but the Torched Cherry Sangria is a drink I enjoyed on the Allure. I also had a few of the Strongbows at the English Pub.

We had a lot of fun in the On Air club. Very nice lounge and they seemed to always have something going on or right across was Boleros which had dancing and music.
On Air had karoke most every night. And one of the best things we did was "Dance It If you Know It". I participated even though I freeze up on stage. It was a group thing so not so scary. My wife has no problem with being entertaining and knew all the songs and dances and ended up winning the long sought after keychain.
The karoke was very well done. There were a few singers that were very talented.
There is so much to do on this class of ships. Enjoy it. Have fun.

You should look into this tour. Eli is a very friendly and knowledgable man. We went from the big ship port not sure how it would work with the windstar port.

unless you were underaged or obviously intoxicated that should be considered a crime against humanity. did they give a reason WHY they would not serve you?
I guess certain beers were not included in the Premium package. Some because of the price. The server explained some were not because of how many are stocked? Didn't make sense to me. I wanted a Black and Tan but couldn't because of half Guiness even though they were equal in price. The other servers even in the same venue which was the English pub would have no problem serving me. So I just didn't let the other server wait on me.
I will try the new Ultimate Package on my next cruise and report back.
-
If you do the drink package on Royal Caribbean they generally just run your card, no receipt. I ended up giving fewer extra tips with the drink package. But probably ordered more drinks so they got more tips that way.
Not true on the Allure. We signed for every drink and had tons of receipts to match up at the end of our cruise. We almost always tip extra for the good service, even though there was server that wouldn't serve me a Guiness. The other servers saw this and waited on us with no problem.

2013 Halloween was very successful. A lot of people (from Boston also) thought Salem was worthy of touring. And they will be visiting year round.
I won't apoligize for my civic pride.
Here is some new information on our new cruise port. There is also a project to expand our Museum which has a lot of seaport exhibits from the early ship trades to India and Hawaii.

Just wondering. What were some of the highlights on the cruise compass when doing 5 seadays in a row? And how rough were the waters?
-
Maui is the best. So much so, that Hubby and I are going to buy a condo there!!
That's wonderful
-
I agree, and why pass up a day in Boston to go to Salem?

The cruise ships will be coming to Salem. The first one was in August 2013. Salem has been going through revitalization for years now. New Superior court house, new commuter rail station, Boston ferry, new hotels and a very active upscale restaurant community.
-
Any compass pictures?

I guess you'll just have to fly to Maui another time to enjoy more of the Valley Isle. ;) There's so much to experience & why the Hawaiians would say "Maui No Ka Oi"...Maui is the best. :)
Yeah that sounds like a plan. After doing research there is so much I want to see and do in Maui and Kauai, We be in Honolulu for 4 days so that should put a dent in that island.
-
And you resurrected a year old thread for what reason?
Because there was a poster interested in Salem. And you are a hater because? If you are not interested don't read or post.
-
If your in Boston - Salem during October here is some information for things to do.
Despite a few haters on this site. Haunted happenings schedule for 2013 is active.

Fleetwoods is a very short walk from the tender dock in Lahaina. Here are the walking directions.
Thanks. Drinks at Fleetwoods inbetween beach-shopping and Luau. Time seems like it will go fast in Maui.
-
That's the old Planet Hollywood location so there should be enough room for momentos of his career. I don't recall the name of the most recent restaurant there however they also used the rooftop for dining which photos indicate Fleetwoods is also doing.
Front st looks like a fairly long street, is this bar close to the cruise ship dock? Like easy walking distance?
-
Zee rovers is the restaurant bar on the trikes trip. The catch and clean the fish.

I saw there is a fairly new restaurant called, Fleetwoods. It is owned By Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac's fame. As a old classic rock fan I will have to at least indulge in a beverage there. I don't know how we will cram in all the things we want to do in Maui?
-
We'll be doing this cruise in 12 days on the Radiance. Ill try to remember to take pics of the compass for you!
Thanks.
-
Does anybody that did this itinerary in the of spring 2013 or will be doing it in fall 2013 have any cruise compasses? We will be doing this cruise on the Radiance in spring 2014 and we are curious about what are the daily events on the 5 sea days.

I sometimes get confused with the Hawaiian names but I saw in the Hawaii magazine about a zipline near Ka'anapali Beach. Does anybody have any information on it? I thought the area was rather flat.

fwiw, I'm not a fan of Duke's on Maui. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Duke's on Waikiki. In fact, it's one of my top 3 places for a drink and meal on Waikiki!
Don't know if you know, but Duke's on Maui is actually north of Black Rock (the Sheraton). It's not on the same stretch of Ka'anapali as Whaler's Village. It's on what is now often referred to as "North Beach".
Just wanted to make sure you weren't expecting to walk to Duke's from the Whaler's Village area.
ENJOY!!!!!! And be sure to tell us all about your adventures when you return!
thanks, no I thought Dukes was at the Marriott area and could just stroll to it. Well new plan, and new place to eat.
Kauai movie excursion
in Hawaii
Posted
We are scheduled to do this excursion in April. We don't have the answers you seek now but we will report back after our cruise or maybe during if the the wifi works.
We agree that it does seem like a great way to see some of the highlights of the island.
