  1. Since PLATINUM points are earned PER PERSON, rewards should be distributed PER PERSON. This is a chintzy move. It is listed as a platinum perk. I earned it.

I agree, but since this is the first report of this, and I'm not seeing others reporting the same, I'm reserving judgement and hope it was just a mistake made by one person onboard, this one time. Fingers crossed ;)

  2. I think I've read here that you now only get one certificate per stateroom rather than one per person. But I don't know that for sure.

I saw one post saying that (a couple weeks ago)..but have not heard anyone confirming and several have said they got one per platinum member. I suspect there would have been an uproar here on the board if it were true ;)

  3. Saw a post on a different board that one of the changes FDR has instituted is the Le Bistro Perk is now, 1 dinner for two per cabin instead of a dinner for 2 per Platinum person. Anyone know if this is accurate or not?

Not a big deal, just wondering since we sail in a few weeks. Thanks

  4. I will not remove or reduce the DSC at all, and I have no problem with the increase in the amt of the DSC that happened a while back...that said I will make 'some' adjustments to other things

When we eat in the Spec Dining rooms we normally tip a bit more than 18%, so I will probably go the 18% (no problem) and still tip some additionally (but not as much as before)

I'm not especially happy with the room serv charge. We normally use RS for morning coffee/pastries/juice in the mornings while we sit on the balcony & just let our mojo start flowing. We've normally tipped $1 to $3 per delivery.

But now, I might have to change out of my jammies earlier in the morning, head to Blue Lagoon or buffet and get a tray of stuff to bring back to the cabin (still lovin' that balcony ;) ). To me, the proposed charge is excessive...but my thoughts on that could change depending on how annoyed I get by making that morning run LOL

  5. I'm not giving up on cruising at all...(in fact in a couple yrs, wife will join me in retirement and we expect to do MORE)

But we also RV and I get confused, why the constant cheap shots at camping???? Heck, if I could bring my RV on board & park it pool side, I'd be in heaven (or is it haven?) ;)

  6. It's been a long time since I've 'researched' cruise pay, but when I did it was just about nonexistent for those who we usually come in contact with (and many of the behind the scenes folks who support those people). And I doubt that has changed much ;)

These folks rely heavily on the DSC for their income. I hope those who want to hurt the line by removing the DSC (and are actually hurting only those low paid employees) find that Karma can be an unkind lady

  7. I had thought it could be difficult...didn't realize it had reached this point though Swedish! We sail in a few weeks so now I guess I'll start working on LeBistro (plat perk) shortly after we board & 'hope'...sort of hate to do that-I've always liked to see the MDR menu and decide each day if it's a good day for specialty dining or if we like the mdr menu :(

    Oh, BTW-'Hi'

Has anyone considered the possibility of not being able to get reservations in the specialty restaurants due to the dramatic increase in the number of cruisers who booked with the UDP included in their fare ?

It happened to us on the Getaway before this recent promotion. We were unable to get into the Le Bistro with our platinum perk because it was booked solid for the entire cruise the first day.

  8. Have you heard that cruising is best enjoyed by 'newly weds and nearly deads'?

OK so I know NCL has some firm restrictions on the age when children can begin cruising. A child must be at least 6 months old and accompanied by an adult (the adult part makes sense).

But let's head out to the other end of the age spectrum. Does NCL or other cruise lines have any restrictions for seniors. I know you must be in good health and in some cases might be asked for a statement from a physician that a person is fit to travel, but at what age might a cruise line decline a booking because of advanced age?

  9. Thank you for all the info you have provided. My wife was just diagnosed recently with Celiac, so we've been checking 'just how it'll all work out'. You've totally set our mind at ease for our cruise coming up in Nov (on the Dawn). I've sent the access desk an email, so I think we're all set :) . Again, my thanks, to not only you, but to the others who have responded!

DH & I were on the Sky in May, I sent the email about 6 weeks prior to our trip. The g/f items were excellent. I had 2 meals pre-ordered that were not where they were supposed to be. Both times, NCL fixed the problem, but I had to wait for a little over 30 minutes for my meal to arrive to the area that dh & I were eating. They also served my husband his regular meal before receiving mine, so it was quite awkward for him to have a hot meal but not me. Just an FYI. They have a good set-up but the set-up failed me on 2 meals within the short time on board.
  10. Maybe wifey thought you needed your own cabin...INSIDE ON DECK 4 ;)

So my DW received a personally addressed Haven guest envelope through the mail last night that she was thrilled about. Fancy envelope, gold Haven sticker, and a "welcome aboard Haven guest, here's what you can expect".

I kind of felt left out while she sat there are read out all the fun things she was going to do. Where's mine ? :(

Apparently nobody at NCL loves me, I think I may cry :p
