  1. We were in Copenhagen last year and I don't remember any place taking Euros. Everywhere wanted Kroner but it is so easy to go to an ATM and get out as many Kroner as you think you will need. Not sure what your bank charges but mine is only $5 per transaction.

We do usually get Euro's in advance if spending time in Europe but when visiting any non Euro country for a day or two we just use the ATM if we don't use credit cards.

  2. We took Spain Tours or sometimes called Top Day Tours last year for three trips, from Vigo to SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, Malaga to Alhambra Palace & Granada and Cadiz to Seville. All the tours were excellent and even the weakest (newest guide) was good. Never did an actual tour with more than 15 and headphones for all. Would highly recommend.

  3. Have not and am not travelling with Children but we looked at all the main tour companies operating in SP and the other ports we visit. As a lot of people on the Board have said, what it came down to with them was a gut feel. That is the same for us. We wrote to three companies with Questions and TJ Travel gave us the most detailed answers to our specific questions. This impressed us and then I think they are smaller when compared to SPB and Alla and the smaller guy always tries harder. As a result we have booked TJ Travel for all the five Baltic ports where they offer tours.
  4. We did this last July with Alla.

    I am also 6'4".

    The bus was adequate.

They have a pit stop about halfway thru the bus ride coming & going, so it's OK.

I REALLY wanted to see Berlin. Yes the sight go quickly. Yes they are worth seeing anyway in my opinion.

We had time for a nice lunch near the Holocaust memorial.

I am glad we went...I don't know about the others, but for me many of the sights we very sobering experiences.

Thanks for this reply. I know that some of the coaches in Europe do not have much leg-room and the prospect of all that time on a coach without being able to sit comfortably concerned me. Glad to hear another 6' 4" person found it OK. Thanks

  5. Yea, looks like they fixed the Hal computer which must have been fed too much juice at its Christmas Party. Prices are back to regular levels and in fact the majority seem to have had a price drop and a small increase for others. Cruise Fish only reacts to changes issued by the Hal computer. (Of course we all remember what Hal did in Space Odyssey 2001!!!)

  6. If this is your cruise, these are the latest prices without logging in.

Where and when did you get these price quotes. Not what is on the HAL site now.

  7. Well the web site updating can not have been responsible for the price increases. Updates are done and they are still there and in fact some of the categories that did not go up before are now up. Our VD increased from $2,099 to $6,119. There still appear to be plenty of cabins available. Just very glad we booked early!!

  8. I have never seen price changes like I am seeing today. We are on May 23 Baltic Cruise and there have been major, I mean major price invreases on most cabins. Verandah cabins for example were around $2500- $2700 with exception of two classes and now all but those two classes are over $6,000!!! Neptune suites have gone from $5,000 to $12,000, Pinnacle from $11,000 to $22,000 and even some interiors have gone from $2,000 to $4,000. Have noticed similar price jumps on other cruises and dates..I trust their computer has just blown a circuit board and it will be adjusted soon.

  9. Hi,

We are doing a Baltic Cruise next year and one of the stops is Warnemunde where we can get a trip to Berlin. I understand that it is a 3hr. trip there, 6 hours in Berlin and then another 3 hours back.

Being a tall person, (6' 4") I do not always fit in bus seats and I am wondering if being possibly uncomfortable on a a 6hr. bus ride is worth putting up with to see the sights of Berlin.

I would be interested in hearing from someone who has done this excursion telling how they found the journey and if it was worth it. Thanks.

  10. I think I read somewhere that their last trip is over the Christmas/New year period on the Eurodam. Too bad. We enjoyed them last year on our Eurodam cruise, great entertainment, and had hoped they would be on Baltic Cruise this year. No Luck....can you play the guitar Al?

  11. The value of your Explore4 is $600.00 plus Pinnacle Grill PP for your VD cabin. Not sure why you think it is questionable  Personally depending on if you enjoy a few drinks, bottled water, Explorations Cafe drinks and sodas the value with the Explore4 was most likely a far better deal than paying less and losing $600 + [/quote

Sorry do not see me drinking that much to make worthwhile, that's 6 drinks per day plus diner! Don't use bottled water (ship's is fine) or sodas and don't like the coffee enough to buy that. Yes I like a couple of drinks and wine with dinner but will be happier being able to buy wine I like. It was a great initial incentive but the savings no longer make it of interest. Too Bad.

  12. Well the Explore 4 "Special Offer" finished yesterday and this morning I see that the price of our VD cabin has dropped $360pp. Seems very strange to me and certainly makes the value of the Explore 4 very questionable.

On closer inspection I see that it is only certain cabin classes that have had the price dropped. On May 23 Baltic sailing the only Verandah cabins with a drop are VD and VF.

Certainly no mention of an extension to the Explore 4 offer on my website, in fact no mention of it whatsoever.

  13. Anybody know if the ability to book a boat to Oia and a bus back to Thira will be in operation this year? I had seen some discussion on the operators possibly not being allowed to operate the buses back to Thira.

Sounded like a good way to miss the cable cars in the morning.

But remember that if your ship is docked at the freeport you cant use the bus in the weekends and public holidays.

Danish Viking, Thanks for the information on construction and route from bus to hotel but I am still not sure if it is practical to take luggage on the No 26 bus. Can you clear up that question please?

  15. I should be up to date with sending out notes to those who requested. If you didn't get them, please post again.

Thanks for the response on the bus.

Not sure if I was too late to make your last mailing of notes and I am on the top of the next batch but I did not receive. kenatocc@gmail.com
