  1. Ok so someone I know has a cruise booked early saver with a reduced deposit. On cruise manager it still has the ability to edit names. Can this be done to change a name on the cruise? Has anyone had success with this. I mm sure if we call they'll say no.

    Thank you,

  2. Hi all,

I've been getting the run around from my PVP at Carnival, and I need a number to get resolution. Can someone direct me.

I am NOT asking for PVP recommendations. I know that is not allowed here. I canceled a cruise and received the refund as a cruise credit already.

However, there were excursions booked on the cruise and they had been paid for with Carnival gift cards.

I received refunds for all but one, and now my PVP is saying she can't get a number for me to call about the missing refund.

If anyone knows a department phone number I can call to escalate this I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you!

  3. Never heard a peep all week from anyone saying it was a problem despite the many, many "it will never work!!!!" declarations from the people who had no experience with the new method.

So here's the thing...I could go set my wallet with my credit cards outside my home front door on my porch. Maybe someone would come find it take off with it, and have a party on my dime...or maybe not. Maybe it could sit there a week, and no one would happen upon it or do anything.

Does that mean that I am going to leave my wallet outside my door for someone to take should the mood to do so strike? No.

Does that mean its a good idea for me to leave my wallet outside my home front door where it could potentially be taken to be used? No.

And this is not a good idea too. Something tied to my credit card should not be left to potentially be compromised.

    period.

  4. My wife made fun of me for packing so many medications. She said I looked like I was starting a pharmacy.

I had everything you could think of: tums, pepto, motion sickness, cold cough, sinus, Tylenol, excedrin etc.

The reason being my first cruise I had a headache and wanted to take Motrin...the price for a trial pack on the ship was nuts.

Come to find out, my wife got sick (upper respiratory infection, not sure if she got it on cruise or at work as she deals with sick people daily). My over preparation saved our cruise because she was a little less miserable using the meds I brought. [emoji23]

I have a bag I take on every cruise. I call it my apothecary. I have remedies for most common ailments: pain relievers, stomach relievers: zantac, immodium, pepto, tums; cold medicines: cough syrup in tablet form, antihistimines, decongestants; bandaids and neosporin.

After reading horror stories of people being quarantined, I make sure I have just about anything i need.

  5. On my early cruises in 2003 -06, I remember finding excursion tickets left in an unsealed envelope in the outside mailbox. I never had a problem, and one time when I received someone else's tickets by mistake, I just returned them to the excursion desk.

As a Diamond, I'm not concerned that my S&S card will be left outside the cabin. But unless I was a brand new cruiser, I wouldn't have any questions about this tactic. It's only a stop gap measure anyway, as the future will be totally keyless doors.

There will be an app for that! In the news part of CC, Carnival CEO is quoted: Arnold Donald, Carnival Corporation's visionary chief executive officer, will be the keynote speaker at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on January 5. Donald will be delivering a speech on "Connected Experience," a radically innovative new Carnival Corporation effort to create new passenger experiences based on entirely new technology. Donald is the first travel executive to snag the keynote slot in the conference's 50 year history, following in the footsteps of visionary leaders from companies like Netflix, Microsoft, Sony and Ford.

Get ready, the future will be here whether you are prepared for it or not!

I'm going to guess that it will be like the Disney bracelets.

Here's how I picture it: you'll take care of all your online check in and bring in your boarding pass. They'll have unassigned bracelets that are activated upon scanning. All the information that was handled online will be synced to the ID in the bracelet when it is issued. It will open doors and charge your account for drinks and other charges.

My guess is the splendor test arrangement will be the intermediary until they can launch the new system.

  6. I also miss the Future Cruise Certificates. Since we live in NH, by state law they were not allowed to expire (They had to be used within two years of purchase for residents of most other states.) and I wish I'd known they were being discontinued before we lost the chance to buy more.

Regarding booking a cruise on a cruise, we've booked many "dummy" three day cruises on board, using Past Guest Rate. We contacted our PVP when the perfect cruise to switch came along. He made sure that our on board credit amount increased with the length of the new cruise.

Great. Do you know if the friends and family vouchers that go along with it get booked based on the new booking date or the original one? So for example if you booked on board on say November 25, normally friends and family would have to book within 60 days of that date. But lets say on 12/30 you change it to a new booking. Would the friends and family voucher have to be booked within 60 days of 12/30 or of 11/25?

    Thanks

  7. I've never done this, but I have heard of others gets screwed far more often than successfully "beating" the system. Just remember, at the end of the day, Carnival is out for Carnival, so if you try and "game" the system (which, quite frankly, I don't think it's a bad idea to try and come out on top just accept the risks) you may not "win."

:rolleyes:That is not gaming the system. You are legitimately able to cancel a cruise booked on a past guest rate.

    Next.

  8. OK, so the last time I did the future cruise thing was when they had the future cruise certificates (sure wish they'd bring those back). Anyway, from what I have read here, the way to do it now is to:

    1. buy a cheapie (4-day) cruise on past guest rate. Get foot in the door for low down payment.

    2. switch later to the cruise I really want.

So my question is this: let's say I book a 4-day far out on the past guest rate and put $300 down. Later, I want to switch to the panama canal on the Splendor, and two friends may book that one as well. So since there is a limited amount of time that the friends and family certificates are good, if I make the switch, will the time for them to qualify for the credit go by my booking date of the new cruise or the first one?

And please refresh my memory, how long from my booking date do they have to book to get the friends and family credit?

    Thank you,

  9. So,

Carnival is bringing back the Splendor to LA. We were her first US homeport.

Bummer about losing Kauai (and a day) on the HI itins. No more 2day cruises on the Imagination.

Sorry to see the Miracle leave, but couldn't Carnival have given us a ship we haven't had yet?

Wonder how many of the Miracle crew will eventually be on the Splendor? We've known many of the crew for several years.

I'll take the Splendor over the Miracle any day, and Splendor is not even my favorite, but I've sailed on her 3 times. Anything is better than the Miracle.
