  1. We went to St Maarten last December... We went on one of the Celebrity driving tours... we were supposed to go to the French side... but they had protests going on.. so never got there... I did a little back ground work and found protests going back to August.  We were there on an earlier cruise and at that time the tour did not go to the French side because of the damage from Irma. So I am not sure what has happened to the beach. The dutch side looked pretty good..but I think they may have gotten more help from the Dutch government to help recover.. I can not recall if the French side has as strong a tie to France as the Dutch side has with the Netherlands.

  2. I used to pack long dress for chic night..that transitioned to cocktail dress.. now I just wear the ankle pants or nice capris with Chico style tunics and tank and my nicer jewelry. DH.. well I try to get him in a blazer, dress shirt tie and nice dress slacks for chic night.. by the second one..if there are two... dress shirt and nice slacks is all I can get him to wear.... the other evenings DH wears either a polo or dress shirt without a tie.  the way I look at it... I am never going to see these people again... so be comfortable.. and packing a lot of stuff.. well I am over that... especially extra shoes

  3. We have sailed Celebrity a number of times in the fall.. there are usually few children on board.. just an observation. I have not sailed on the M Class ship... Dress code is not hard to meet... even their chic  night.. I wear capri pants and a chico type top..and I usually wear this every night. DH usually wears polo shirt and on chic night I might get him into a blazer and tie...but casual shoes... if there is a second chic night.. it will be in a dress shirt with no tie or jacket. So shorts may get you sent out ..but generally they are pretty flexible... The Ocean View cafe is always an option and frankly a pretty good option.. The shows are pretty good..although I think Royal..with larger ships..can afford bigger productions. I have heard nice things about M class ships and hopefully we will be able to try one..would like to try sailing out of Tampa

k - there is a 'sub-set' of beverages which are not included in any package regardless of price. The merits of this, I cannot argue for or against, it is what it is and I will order according to my desire(s) LOL

I cannot tell you which ones, with the exception of the fact that there are a few at The Spa Cafe which are not included under any package. The server was insistent on reminding me each time I ordered one and finally I asked that I not be reminded because I was aware of the additional charge. I only wanted the drink... LOL

    Cheers and bon voyage

So from what you are saying... it sounds like a waste of money for OP to upgrade to premium..if all they really wanted was to use it for smoothies...

So if I read this correctly....smoothies aren't listed under any package. Out of curiosity does anyone know how much they charge for one... ? Perhaps if under $9 you can get it with the classic? I know you can get pina colada's and other fluffy drinks with the classic... and that is with alcohol. Beyond the cafe by the spa (which would logically have the kale type)... where else could you get one?

  6. I am sorry that I do not know bed placement on inside cabins, but I would try to avoid ones next to large blank spots on the deck plan. Those areas are most likely where the crew is.. and what I mean is spots for crew stair cases or areas where they keep fresh linens. So they could be noisy early in the am. It has been along time since we sailed in an inside cabin (great way to start out though)... but in other ships that is what we noticed.

  7. I wish they would consider break this down into three categories....  quarantine for close contact your own cabin, step one isolation for those who test positive..but either asymptomatic or light symptoms... in room with veranda.. and step two isolation for those with more significant illness... close to medical..eg deck 3.  I think that taking people with minor symptoms and sticking them in an inside or even ocean view (porthole)... is what keeps people from considering sailing right now. If you are really feeling sick... you need to be in closer proximity to care and will likely have less issue to being stuck in your cabin. If you are feeling reasonably good but test positive.. a veranda will help take some of the sting out of it.

  8. Didn't they use to have that call back feature? You know the one where a voice tells you that the wait time is an hour but if you push a button... they will call you back when your time comes...  I thought they had this at one point..perhaps it was Royal.

Right on. I just did what you recommended and the "ask us anything" button popped up. 👍

I tried doing a search first..nothing and then I thought..what was I doing the last time I noticed it... and it was when I wanted to move the cruise..so I was looking at options...  So it makes sense for it to pop up then.. but it has been helpful to have this option.

  10. I used the chat feature to move my Feb cruise to August. less of a wait than if I called...but I had a question that required a supervisor..but we were far enough along that I was comfortable saying that I was ready to make the change and that the agent should send me the invoice once availble.

  11. Here is one way you can tell... looking at the deck plan... any cabin next to one of the sections that juts out is obstructed, because you can only have a clear view.. straight out and to either the right or left..depending where the jut out occurs. On Edge the porthole verandas were listed as obstructed because the porthole design impacts your view and the window washing equipment tends to be in that general area. Now the Magic Carpet area has a much larger jut out.... here ..on Edge two cabins on each side of the jut out were considered obstructed.  Looking at the Beyond deck plan it appears they have recategorized cabins vs what I originally saw for Edge (it did go through some modifications)..

Also on deck 6 the lifeboat davits might be considered an obstruction. They do not impact your view standing at the rail..but if you are seated.. the davit might interfere with your view..and where there isn't a davit you will be overlooking the top of a lifeboat. This type of obstruction has never particularly bothered me. My guess is that E3's are likely lifeboat davits... they stick up higher than the top of lifeboats and are more noticable.

One thing I really noticed on HAL, and appreciated, was that they have always served passengers in the buffet.  It seems to be more pleasant and much cleaner.  Ask for as much as you want, but I think there is a little more thought when you ask for something, as you have to actually consider how many pieces of something you want, rather than just "scooping it up" and putting it on your plate.   It may take a few more staff members to do this.

They have been doing this on Celebrity since they started up again

Let's face it right now the vaccination requirement is a critical marketing tool for their customer base and it helps them with attracting our revenue.  I could see them putting a booster requirement in place soon.  But probably dropping masks on board as Omicron rapidly declines in the next month or so.

I hope you are correct .. especially about masking... since 65+ are highly vaccinated... a bulk of their target is already there.

  14. I don't see Celebrity making changes anytime soon. One reason I was concerned about a mid Feb sailing... they will likely keep masking requirements in place long after needed... they don't want to be criticized for dropping them. I was someone testifying in Congress and basically telling them that we are all going to get it. So it sounds like masking, no masking, vaccinated or not... won't make a difference with Omicron. The real question is.. if the virus is really becoming less lethal. And at what point do we have enough information to say... it is now just like the flu and go back to life as usual. I think the fear of illness has become so ingrained in us that we can't let go. I was reading a story about requiring people on a zoom call to wear masks... because it bothered some of the participants to see people without them... is this really our future.  Now that the CDC has tossed this back into the lapse of the cruise lines... I am wondering if I should make final payment on an April cruise..

  15. DH did not like the IV, I liked it but felt it was too small. Now I think that the IV cabin would be great on ... say an Alaskan..inner passage cruise... where there is a lot to see from the ship... In that case you can just stay in your stateroom and watch the scenery go by and no coat or jacket necessary. Or some other itinerary where ...unlike the caribbean... there is something to look at and perhaps the weather isn't reliable or it is cold or hot.

Our Eclipse sailing is Pacific Coast and even though it noe longer shows we were assured it is still sailing.  I made my final payment on the 1st of the B2B's on the 9th and will pay the second one this week

Well, they have to get that ship from San Diego up to Vancouver ... so perhaps that cruise will happen..with passengers

Yes, we've been sailing Celebrity since the 90's. Started on Zenith: 20+ cruises now. Perhaps it's my advanced years (and moderate appetite) that I never noticed the trays disappear. 🤪

We only started with Celebrity back in '16.. so they must have made a change as they remodeled. We have not been on M class..so perhaps they are laid out differently. Somehow trays doesn't fit the Celebrity brand... Now DH uses a cane and often someone on the crew will help him. But I agree that having someone serve you keeps you from loading the plate.

My father was an engineer and as a kid when we would go to a buffet he took pride in constructing a plate in such a way that he could stack food quite high.. and stable... was a sight to behold 🙂

  18. I just checked on of the online TAs and they have no Eclipse sailings in March... appears the schedule begin in late April... to Hawaii .... then it shifts to Alaska around mid May.    My guess is that they are delaying sailing to wait out Omicron. I would push for an answer.

  19. Sorry, I haven't gone through all the suggestions...but you might keep an eye out for one of their 'sail only' prices...which excludes gratuities.. drink package and wifi. But then you will have to pay for sodas, specialty water, and any alcohol. We survived for years consuming iced tea, coffee and punch type drinks at the buffet... Of course now that we have sampled the AI ... well it is all I can do to hold DH back from going full premium to get his McCallum....
