  1. I do not have the Celebrity card, but I do have the one from Royal Caribbean from Bank of America. I assume it is the same bank and the same system. There should be a link on the Celebrity website to their credit card, or you log in to your account with the bank if you already have that set up. There is a rewards section where you choose what you are redeeming. They will ask your sailing details and once completed will send a confirmation of the redemption. The OBC show up within the first couple of days onboard. I always take a print out of the confirmation just in case, but have never had a problem.

Yep, if BAC is bank of america. I have the celebrity card through them, its very easy to log into and choose the reward you want. It doesnt have to be OBC, but thats what we choose. I always pay for my cruise with that card b/c you get 2 points to the dollar, so its always good for at least an extra $100 in OBC. And I use it as my card for on board purchases too.

Its the one you have to pay per year to have. I'm not sure what the other one gives for perks.

I also print out the confirmation and bring it with me, never had an issue with it, but ya never know!

  2. A few years we did a tour to Berlin while on a Baltic cruise. We were very concerned about how taxing it would be especially since it was the last day of the cruise and it was a 12 hour day. It turned out to be a very nice surprise. We saw a great deal and felt we learned a lot about the city. It was very manageable and enjoyable. Go for it.

Thank you! We have 3 days in St Petersburg as well, with 12+hour days, so we'll be making the best of our 2 at sea days for sure! And I think we can really relax on the train going there and coming back, which will be nice.

The tour is arranged by the ship, so we'll see what they bring us to. I am really not interested in seeing any concentration camps, so I hope they arent on the itinerary. I just want to see the basics, and if we love it, we'll go back to just that city not on a cruise.

Seems lots of folks have done the tour but via bus, which I would not want to do. I like to get up and walk around and use the restroom! So train sounds great to us. And my Dad is a former railroader, so we love trains anyway.

I hope it will be fun.

  3. Here is another option, a few years ago when we were there,we took the train to Rostock and spent the day there. It is a beautiful city. Then we took the ferry back to the ship. The next year we did a land tour and spent 2 days in Berlin. Best of both worlds. We did not want to spend 5 hours on a train with approximately an equal time for sightseeing. Enjoy your holiday.

Not really looking for another option, just want reviews from folks that may have taken this tour in the past. We will be doing this tour, but want to hear reviews so we know what to be on the lookout for, good or bad.

    But thank you :-)

  4. Thank you all! I am doing all non ship tours for all ports except this one, and I am aware we're on a train for a while, but we come from a family of train lovers, so to us that is a plus. I'd rather be on a train then in a bus.

I am not a huge shopper, I'd rather see sights then shop. And its a real expectation that I wont see it all, nor do I want to, if I wanted to see it all I'd not go there on a cruise for sure. But highlights would be nice :-)

Thank you for the link to the reviews, that was wonderful!!

I like the idea of train, with bus, walking and river tour. I was hoping for folks that have done this one and if it was worth the time and money, its super expensive ($350 pp)

But you all have given me things to look at so thank you,

  5. Hi, Has anyone taken the ships tour via train from Rockstock to Berlin?

They have 3 different ones and I just want to make sure we're seeing all we can once to Berlin.

If anyone has a review that would be great since X no longer has them on any shore excursions, its hard to tell if they are good or not.

I did do a search on CC, but it was more of a why dont you do a private tour instead, and we're only researching the reviews for this ship/train tour.

If you can provide stops and what you did, that would be great!

    Thanks in advance.

    Tammy

  6. Celebrity, 10 nights - Venice, Dubrovnik (overnight stay), Dubrovnik, At SEA, Crete, Mykonos, Athens, Santorini, Katakolon, At SEA, Venice

I have done the same cruise on the Connie. I'd say, that two of my very favorite EVER ports were Mykonos and Santorini... I'd do this entire cruise again just to visit those two places one more time. I loved them both. Did no excursions there either. Just magical.

Connie is also the perfect size ship, not too many passengers.

I think the MDT is awesome, it would be hard not to enjoy your time no matter what line you choose.

    Have fun!

  7. We had 300 OBC from X and then cashed in points for another 150 OBC via that X Credit Card, so I called X for my invoice to make sure it got added it looks like it totals 450 like it should but nothing is easy on X. Does the chart below mean we have the proper 450 in OBC ?

Onboard Credits - Currency Guest #1 Guest #2 Total

    USD 75.00 75.00 150.00

    150.00 150.00 300.00

    Yes, thats correct.

    top 75 (guest 1) and 75 (guest 2) =150.

Then 150 (guest 1) and 150 (guest 2) =300. Total both together you get 450

Thats X's way of breaking up the different types of OBC. Its confusing, but you're spot on.

    Have fun!

  8. We were in a Sky Suite on the Connie last May. It did say somewhere there were docking stations, so I was wondering if they were the old 31 pin, or the new lightning kind.. We got there, and yep there was a docking station, however no cords. So we asked our Butler and he said, yeah, it doesnt work... so he removed it. I said oh do you have a back up, or one from another room they arent using? And he said they were getting rid of them.

So, I'd say, you've got a 50/50 shot of getting one..

  9. I wish they'd bring them back - I think they'd be helpful.

I agree, I read reviews for everything. But it was good b/c these were specific to the tour. I wrote reviews on our X Excursions last year, and they didnt like I mentioned something negative, so they wouldnt allow it to post. It wasnt super negative, more of a "it would be better if..." so maybe that was the beginning of the end for them..

But I do wish they were there..

  10. Yes they sure do. Sign up to receive emails from them and you'll know. Or if you have an agent they can tell you too. The reduced deposits are good on any category, I did get it for a suite. Also, there are reduced deposits when you book while onboard, for example $100 pp, no matter what category. They arent on any real regular basis, but they do happen at least a few times a year. :-)

  11. Who charters an entire cruise ship? Just curious.

This has been going on with the Summit for the last 3 years, and next 2 for sure. They charter out as theme cruises. Its unfortunate its always the Summit, and ALWAYS when its cold in the upper midwest and we'd like to get away.

If you booked through an agent, they'll help you re-schedule, if you booked yourself with X, they should call you. There is an entire dept that is all they do.

    Very common, unfortunately

  12. The Connie is a great ship! Perfect for your first time with Celebrity! I've been on it twice, and would not hesitate to go again. The crew LOVE this ship. You will be treated like royalty on every X ship, so sit back, relax and enjoy the cruise. Then come back here and tell us all you loved her <3

  13. DH and I just finished a very nice cruise on the SB Quest. He was breaking in his new Nikon D500 camera.

We spent 4 days in Copenhagen pre-cruise (wonderful), then a 12-day cruise which included Alborg, Flam, Alesund, Geiranger Fjiord, Molde, Olden, Bergen, Eidfjiord, Stavanger, ended in Dover.

Link to some pictures is below:

Wow, those are some spectacular photos. Good job husband with the new camera! Thanks for sharing :)

  14. Celebrity Cruises

Spend $500 or more, get $150 back

I just got on chat with Amex about this, I have a platinum, and never got this offer. He told me it only is going to certain people, you cant automatically get it, and you cannot request it either. He said I can wait a few days to see if it gets added, but otherwise nothing to do to get it if I havent already.

    Darn it!

  15. We are cruising in a Royal suite on constellation along the Dalmatian coast and on to Malta and Sicily. I have a kind of photo travel blog at...

Our butler, Wilfred, has so far been amazing. we are in 6134 and my mil is in SS 6146 traveling solo. as he covers both suites he has been keeping her well looked after.

One nice little touch was that when he pointed out we had unlimited laundry he said we should get my mil (in an SS) and my sil and her husband (in a CS) to our room and would do it all. Even on a daily basis if we needed:):)

We had Wilfred too in May! We loved him. He will take very good care of you. Please, if you remember, tell him his MN friends say hello!! Enjoy your cruise.

  16. Received a call today from Celebrity that our cruise has been cancelled due to the ship being chartered. Anyone else have experience with this? What can I expect when I call Celebrity? Very frustrated that this is happening

2nd year in a row for us this cruise was cancelled. We were on the Jan 30th cruise. I've been trying to get to Bonaire since 2006. First time we booked a 7 day on the Summit, going to Bonaire, one of the pods needed to be fixed, they changed the cruise to 6 days and took off Bonaire. Finally years later Summit was going back in 17, we booked, they cancelled. We saw it was going again in 18, booked, and yep.. cancelled. I talked in great detail with the gal and asked if they might think to put another ship in that area in Jan-March, since us in cold climates want a cheap caribbean cruise, a maybe an Edge class might go? She wasnt sure. But good grief. This is crazy!

  17. I really want to do a Celebrity cruise in January, as we have for the last few years, but they have the same ole' itineraries. I would like a 10-11 day cruise but they only have two choices...St. Thomas, St Maarten, St. Kitts & Barbados which I have done twice or they have a Western Caribbean that does Cozumel (overnight), Grand Cayman, Colon, Cartegena and Puerto Limon. At first that sounded interesting but I am iffy about Puerto Limon and Colon.

Princess has some fabulous itineraries but my hubby is miffed at Princess for the service and crappy cabin we had on the last Princess cruise. What to do?? Try those ports on Celebrity's Western or go with the better itinerary on Princess but less service etc.

Come on Celebrity give us winter escapees something new, please!

Boy I agree! Did the Summit already 3x. Then for the last 3 bookings, we booked the fabulous 11 day on the Summit that went to the ABC islands, specifically wanted to see Bonaire. And just this last week, or 3rd try was again cancelled for 2018 :(

If buying out the entire Summit from Jan 20-April sometime is so great, add another ship there please so the rest of us have one to go on while its Winter!

    So, I agree with you.

  18. I called Celebrity last night to enquire about our cruise (not that I have much confidence in the information received from customer serverice)....at this point the Jan 30th 2018 sailing 11 nights from San Juan is still on and open for bookings - it seemed to be a pretty popular sailing with the unique itinerary (Summit normally does 7 nights out of San Juan and doesn't hit Aruba etc) - so hopefully it won't get bumped

He said that they are not showing any charters on Summit through Jan/Feb of 2018 and still accepting bookings on all those dates.

So who knows.....I suspect it is one of those things where if the Jazz company gets a certain number of bookings it's a go but in the meantime Celebrity is hedging their bets??

It's all speculation at this point and I can just hope it doesn't affect our Jan 30th sailing

I too am on the Jan 30th sailing. This will be the 2nd time I've booked that sailing in fact. 1st time was Jan 2017, and it was bumped by a charter late last year. I think it was like Oct when they called to tell us. We were given 4 choices of nothing we wanted, so we straight up cancelled.

I booked this Jan 18 cruise b/c of the itinerary, which is going to Bonaire.

The first time I tried to take Celebrity to Bonaire, a pod broke and our 7 day got cut to 6, and dropped Bonaire. Then I booked 17 to go to Bonaire, and it got chartered..

    Maybe 3rd times the charm?!!!

  19. Thanks to all for the reassuring comments. The post I read may have been an exaggeration. We will look forward to our 13 nights in Blu (unless we choose a specialty restaurant in addition for a few nights).

We ate in Luminae, but sometimes got what was on the Blu menu because it looked so good! Also got main dining room food a couple times. I cant speak to how Blu's been in the past, but in May it was fabulous. Although, I think Celebrity has fantastic food just about everywhere :-)

  20. CABIN #: 6124

    DECK #: 6

    CLASS: S2

AREA: Right side, near the back half of the ship

BED NEAR: Wall, with feet facing window

    QUIET?: yes

BALCONY VIEW: Not straight into the water, but no obstruction

BALCONY SIZE: Larger than any we've had before

    WIND A PROBLEM?: No

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Our first Suite, and it was exceptional. Bathroom had a tub, which for shorter guests might be a bit of a hurdle, we are tall and it was a bit of an adjustment for us. Having the bed facing the window was nice as opposed to parallel as we've had before in regular veranda rooms. The only bad thing was, there is a window in the shower, with blinds on it, that werent quite closed all the way, so at night you could see the glow of the nightlight. Our butler had something made and velcro'd on there to block the light. The switch for the blinds was not working, and our butler said it will likely just get removed since this is the 3rd time they've tried to fix it.

The closet was WALK IN. And when you opened the door the light came on, a couple times in the night, the light randomly came on and scared the begeezus out of us, so just be sure the door is secured.

The bed is a true king, no rounded ends like in the other rooms, plenty of walk around space.

    Tv was a bit glitchy

Phone never really worked well in either the bedroom or the bathroom.

Scale in the Bathroom we asked to immediately be removed.

There was a docking station, with the old 32 pin there, but someone stole the power cord, so we never could use it.

I do have a video and many pics I cant figure out how to attach, but will work on them!

Please let me know if you have any questions. We hope to be able to get a suite again if the price is right, we LOVED IT.

  21. I strongly recommend Global Entry (GOES). It is $100 for five years and includes Pre-Check as well as expedited passport control on re-entering the US. If you fly two round trips per year, that is $5 per security screening to get put in the Pre-Check line.

That is not true. Global entry does NOT always include TSA precheck.

    TSA Pre✓®

    Are You Eligible?

Global entry members are eligible to participate in TSA Precheck Logo. U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents enrolled in NEXUS or SENTRI are also eligible to participate in TSA Precheck Logo, as well as Canadian citizens who are members of NEXUS.
