    Review!! Just off the Triumph 1-20-2018

    My husband and his parents just got off of the triumph for our 5 day cruise to Cozumel and Progresso. I’m not very good at writing reviews but I am going to share what we thought and if you have any questions please ask.

     

    First and foremost none of us were impressed with the food on this ship. This was my husband and i’s first cruise and everyone said the food was great but we struggled to find something that was edible. We ate a lot of burgers and burritos because the buffet never had anything we liked. We are simple southern people with a wide variety pallet and didn’t like most of the food.

     

    The bars on the other hand were great!!!

    Go to the Lido deck and see my two favorite bar tenders who knew my drink and had it ready when they saw me get off the elevator. Aryana and Yudhi are the best bar tenders and I hope I can find more great people like them.

     

    The coffee bar was my morning hang out on the 5th floor because the coffee is great and it’s nice and quiet to do their daily puzzles and drink my coffee in peace. Florin can make a mean caramel latte!!!!

     

    And now that I have covered drinking, yes we did get the CHEERS!!! And honestly I don’t know how people cruise without it! You don’t have to constantly worry about how much you are paying for drinks and how much your tab is up to because it is all paid for ahead of time! We like to have fun and drank on average 12/15 of our alcoholic drinks a day. We are normal drinkers and it was hard for us to hit 15 a day. Plus my coffee from the coffee bar was included also my husbands soda. So worth the money!!!!

     

    We had an interior room and it was nice. All we did was sleep and shower there so we didn’t mind the size. Loved how dark it got when we went to bed. The beds were decent and clean. Our room steward was so sweet and such a good guy. His name was Blessing. My in laws had a balcony room and never spent any time on the balcony so they won’t splurge on that again.

     

    We played the casino and arcade to have fun and I actually won a little bit. We took part in the build a bear activity to bring home to my son. That was a great thing for the kids. They are cheaper than the store I think and they had carnival exclusive clothes for them.

     

    Ok the ports!!!!!!

    Cozumel wasn’t bad at all. Loved walking and shopping and sitting on the beach. Remember if one of the shop owners are yelling free items, it’s just to get you in to buy something. We didn’t do any excursions so don’t know about those but we took 4 hours and got back on the boat.

     

    Progresso shows you a little more authentic Mexican living. Right at the tax and duty free shopping building isn’t bad at all but if you take the bus up the road to town like many of us did you will find authentic Mexican places. They had two flea markets set up for shopping and then the bus took us back. Probably a one time for our family.

     

    I got the internet package to keep up with news from my son and let me tell you they really mean limited for the $5/day package. It worked for Facebook messenger but not much else.

    I wasn't too happy with MDR at ALL either. Everything else was fine though. Hung out at the casino/bar area because there was a great band playing. But that was it.

    Ticket to Ride

    Hoping Carnival Miracle still does "Ticket To Ride." Feb.3, 2018 sailing!!

    Hi Victory, unfortunately they don't do the "Ticket to Ride" show anymore. One of Carnival's cutbacks. I have seen that show many times and miss it. They also dont do the Broadway shows/Las Vagas shows anymore. Soo sad.

    Any must do or try things on the Carnival Triumph?

    The only reason we took this cruise recently was to listen to Liz and Lucas play. We saw them play a year ago and we were very impressed.

     

    They generally play in the Venezia lounge. Lucas sings, plays the guitar and drums all at the same time. Once in the Venezia, very few people left while they were playing.

     

    Be sure to check them out the first night and then you can make your judgment on how good they are.

     

    Yes, they are very good. I was in that Lounge and listened to them play and sing. They also had a nice group of people who stayed and enjoyed them as well.

    Embassy Suites/Lofts +walking to port??

    It's 2 blocks to the riverwalk mall parking lot. If you see that tunnel looking thing..that's an escalator that takes you to the 2nd floor of the mall. That's where people who walk through the mall from Hilton riverside end up. Then go out the doors on the Riverside of the mall and I believe down some steps to get to the port.

    Saint Greg - just wanted to say thanks again for all your wealth of info. you give to us. I ended up taking a flight out the same day as my cruise. The first flight out of Kennedy. It was great and I was very lucky it worked out for me. Got there on time and Carnival picked me up. Just had a hour delay coming home though. Flight was 6:20 and didnt get home until 11:30. Air Traffic at Kennedy they said. All in all it was a great flight and cruise.

    Hi Guys, just wanted to let everybody know that I made it safe and sound for my cruise in New Orleans. I couldn't have asked for a better flight. Left on time with no delays and arrived around 11:00. Carnival Transfer was waiting for me at the luggage claim. Going home later flight around 6:30 but had a hour delay due to Air Traffic at JFK. Got in around 11:30pm and in my room around 12:30 as I am a Platinum Member. All in all it was a great flight and great cruise. I would even fly Delta again even though I love Jet Blue. :D

    YES and I have plenty of video of them, I will post that here soon

     

    the triumph is a much smaller ship so there are less attractions to do but the crew works super hard to be more interactive and fun

     

    You saw my favorite band Music Boardwalk. Cant waitto seek

    I've only had to fly once to cruise and we did the day of. It was our first cruise, so we really don't know a whole lot. If I ever have to fly again, I will be going at least 1 day before. The stress is awful.

     

    Okay I have talked with Carnival about my situation and they assured me that if it is cancelled to call them and let them know and they will take care of getting me therer. So here's hoping this will all turn out okay,

    But you are right the stress is awful.

    Good luck, contemplating a day of arrival and you just made me go back to the day before.

     

    Thanks Janice. This will definitely be a lesson for me that I wont forget. I dont know I just figured its not going to be so bad to do. I NEVER usually do this. lol
