  1. The assumption from many is that if anyone is going to take a speaker along then they WILL play it loud or on their balcony. I have to say that I had missed the mention of the balcony by the OP. I incorrectly thought that this was one of these threads where someone asks an innocent question and gets lots of grief from others because they make assumptions about what will be doing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with someone taking a speaker along on a cruise. Playing it too loud or on their balcony is absolutely wrong, in my opinion.
  2. The odd thing is that the Cagney appetisers are 100% seafood. My wife for one would love them to make some savings by cutting back on the seafood there.
  3. I don’t eat at the MDR very often, but usually have a look at the menu when walking past them (I’d guess I usually see two out of three menus). The ones posted look the same as were on the Viva a couple of weeks ago. I can’t say that I noticed them being significantly different to previous ones. The biggest difference from a few years ago for me is the Cagney options offered (which have been there for a while now). I don’t see any big difference in the number or variety of apps or entrees. I’m obviously not as invested in this as others are, so could be missing some differences, but it isn’t obvious to a casual observer.
  4. I have a question. If someone playing some music through a small speaker so that it can be heard by the people in the room will ruin people’s peace and quiet, why do NCL put TVs in every cabin?
  5. This was a post I made on here last year when I had this issue. Reading it, it seems that my problem was due to the shore excursion discount on free at sea plus (I didn't have a similar problem on my recent cruise). The whole thread may be worth you looking at.
  6. I can't remember the exact details, but I had something similar recently. I had heard stories on here of cruises being cancelled due to these issues, so called by PCC. It was the first time I had spoken to him, and he wasn't all that interested, but assured me that everything was showing as being paid in full at his end. I went with it, and had no problems.
  7. I may be misremembering, but I thought that I could access the bar code on the app when we boarded.
  8. I haven't carried any wine onboard for many years (since the beverage package started being included), but before that it was about 50:50 whether I would be charged. Which is fairly standard for NCL's implementation on many things like this.
  9. Some of us haven’t changed our hair colour/style since we were at school. 🙂
  10. You can also phone to make part payments. I’ve done that in the past when there were problems with the app.
  11. Just to expand on the last post, whilst the restaurants that are designated as Smart Casual does change from ship to ship, I have never seen it applied to anything other than the Aft dining room, Le Bistro and Ocean Blue (or equivalent). On many ships some of those venues don’t have the stricter dress code (although Le Bistro seems to be fairly consistent), but I’ve never seen additional ones included. People will likely comment about being allowed in (or seeing others allowed) to Le Bistro with shorts, for example. The application of these rules is fairly inconsistent, but that doesn’t mean the rules aren’t there.
  12. Historically you have been able to add cruisenext vouchers to existing bookings, and as far as I am aware this is still the case. We last did it about 6 months ago. However, you should be aware that the T&Cs state that they can only be used on new bookings, and this wording was changed recently to make that clearer. At the time some people took this to mean that they would start enforcing it, but this hasn’t happened yet. The point is that, whilst it can currently be done, this doesn’t mean that you will still be able to do next month. I have always applied the vouchers online rather than call, as I recall that some people have said that they couldn’t get done by phoning as the rep wouldn’t apply them (I assume because they were following the rules). I believe that hanging up and trying another rep would often work. If NCL ever fix their IT then this loophole may close. 🙂
  13. There are only a couple of places where shorts wouldn’t be fine (Le Bistro, Ocean Blue and the aft dining room on some ships). There is no specific dress code in either La Cucina or Cagneys on any ship. This is from a recent freestyle daily.
  14. It gives people the extra day in port, rather than a sea day at the end. We have had similar a couple of times at places like Venice. Not sure how itineraries like this come along, but I’ve always just assumed that it is an accident of timing with the port schedules and NCL have decided to give people the extra time rather than just hanging around outside of port. It does allow for a less rushed reprovisioning I suppose. Every time I’ve had something like this has been at the end of a longer cruise so that may be a factor (although I can’t think why).
  15. Restaurant reservations open at 130 days for the Haven.
  16. This really is a personal decision. All I can advise is to just use the same considerations that you would on land. If you have had a lazy day would you then want to go out for a dinner, or do you prefer to continue a busier day? Does having a nice meal sound like something that would start a holiday or end one? We have no fixed ideas about when we will eat where, but consider what we are likely to be doing each day and then what we are likely to fancy doing in the evening. Nobody on these boards knows our preferences better than us, so we are best placed to make those choices. It really is up to us. I'm not trying to be unhelpful, but this isn't a cruise thing, it's a you thing.
  17. Have you heard anything too suggest that they are? I've not heard anything myself this year. The only recent data point that I have is that we weren't charged any tax anywhere on our Lisbon to Rome itinerary recently. Also, remember that what happened this week doesn't mean that the same will happen next week, or even on a different ship at the same time.
  18. Whatever. I certainly got a few glasses with P+ last week, as do many other people every day in Le Bistro. I will continue to give people the full answer, however much that upsets you.
  19. The question was whether Veuve is available with P+. The correct answer is that it is included at Le Bistro, and generally not elsewhere. I didn’t say you were incorrect, but expanded on your answer. Best to give people all the information.
  20. Veuve in Le Bistro only on P+ seems to be the standard these days, as reported on this board, and in our experiences for cruises in about the last year. You may find it elsewhere, but that is the exception. I’ve certainly not seen or heard of it in bars lately. They will sell you a bottle with the discount, if you really need some.
  21. You can only use refundable OBC to buy cruise next.
  22. Dining is 120 days, unless you are in a club suite (125 days) or full suite (130 days). It is 90 days for shorter cruises (6 days or less). Shows are 21 days. It may be longer for other rooms (I never book shows). Excursions can be booked when they are listed. That could be 2 years out, or a few weeks.
  23. Swapping to a different cruise is classed as a cancellation, so yes you would lose your deposit. Give them a call to confirm what your options are. Depending on what the actual deposit should have been it may be better to pay the deposit amount and get your cruise next refunded, if they are worth more than the deposit amount. Edit: also look into whether there may be any legal protections that can help if you have only just booked. I’ve never used any of these so don’t know the rules, but believe that companies have to allow you to cancel online orders if done soon after booking (but I could be talking nonsense).
