Wow...... sorry, but just... Wow. I am not normally this vocal here, but...... I do not know Seth nor do I have any first hand knowledge of his Sail With Seth sailings. But he obviously has contributed a very positive perspective to the Holland America experience for the past few years, both through his Face Book posts and through his actual Holland America "Sail with Seth" cruise experiences. Just because some of you are not from North America, nor Facebook fans or users, that does not diminish nor negate that fact. There have been so VERY FEW positive aspects to cruising in any way over the past few years. Seth, IMHO, struck me as a wonderful exception to that. Why Holland America has decided to end his contract is beyond me. I wish him nothing but success moving forward.

Is the OPEN bottled water part of the Signature Package?

On the day we are in St Kitts my itinerary says that we will be tendering. There are only two other ships there that day, and they both are bigger and dock later than we do on the Rotterdam. I've been to St Kitts many times without having to tender. Is my itinerary probably wrong or do HAL ships now always tender there?

We're only in San Juan from 7:00am-5:00pm on a Tuesday. DH is mobility challenged and can't walk far. Is there a restaurant very close to the port where we can get authentic Mofungo for lunch?

It took a while, but I have been reimbursed for the shore excursions I cancelled. 👍

I am used to Holland America's policy of refunding booked shore excursions relatively quickly when cancelled well before sailing. Perhaps stupidly, I assumed Princess would be the same. I have cancelled two shore excursions that I pre-booked with Princess and I have not been refunded for those bookings. Will I be reimbursed or does that money become OBC?

As someone who us lucky enough to still be fully mobile, I am now dealing with a partner who is not. It is a very hard thing to deal with. I think and I hope what you experienced is not a normal occurrence. I have found most HAL passengers choose their excursions appropriately. But I do understand if your enjoyment of a once in a lifetime excursion was negatively impacted, especially if this particular woman acted this way on multiple occasions. Sad on so many levels.....

We are 4* Mariners with HAL and just Platinum with Princess. The last time we cruised was 2020 with a Princess cruise followed by two Holland America cruises. We very much preferred the HAL cruises in terms of service, accommodations, and food. But Princess if far superior IMHO in onboard activities and I love MUTS, especially late at night. I wish HAL had sliding doors on their balconies like Princess, but I love HAL's larger balconies. I wish HAL would use their "version" of MUTS better on the new ships. I wish HAL would focus more on onboard activities and add to their Entertainment Staff. I wish HAL had the onboard entertainment that Princess has. I wish HAL was more fun. But in every other way, I wish Princess would be more like HAL. 🙂

We don't sail until mid-February and I booked all my dining (MDR and Specialty) yesterday. Platinum level. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was.

It’s been a while since we’ve cruised. Are Formal nights still Smart Casual at the Specialty Restaurants? And are Formal Nights still never on the first and last days of a cruise?

Exactly. Seems ridiculous to have to fight for just a 4 day extension, but we did. Surprisingly, two days ago getting a 3 week extension wasn't a problem at all.

That's definitely not what I dealt with earlier this year. Perhaps the "rules" have changed?

Just wanted to let everyone know that, at least in our case, Future Cruise Credits that supposedly HAD to be used by December 31 2022 can indeed be extended. For those that don't know, we had to cancel two HAL cruises earlier this year due to COVID. No issues with refunds and FCCs, but we encountered some "pushback" with the December 31 2022 mandate for using those FCCs. My TA managed to convince HAL to extend the date to January 4 2023. We have just changed our cruising plans and those same FCCs are now being applied to a January 25 2023 cruise. Of course YMMV ..... but if this helps someone else in the same situation.... paying it forward is always my "go to" here.

Can't answer that with certainty, because we had already purchased the protection plan.

That was my exact experience earlier this year. I had purchased the Standard HAL Protection Plan for our two cruises. Right before sailing we both tested positive for COVID and we had to cancel. I got back 80% and the other 20% was given as FCCs.

They were definitely using starboard cabins earlier this year. We got bumped out of an aft 4th deck one on the Nieuw Statendam in January.
