  1. I sure wish they would upgrade the Splendor to 2.0....love the Guy burgers!!!

The Splendor just went in to dry dock recently and had carpets, paint, etc. done. The plan to move her to China has been delayed until 2019. So...unless the China move changes...she won't be getting 2.0

  2. We want to do a 7 day western Caribbean cruise. NCL has free drinking on basically the same cruise as Carnival. It would save us about $130 to do NCL plus would save us air money since we could drive to New Orleans and not to Miami.

I know nothing about NCL or the ship Norwegian Dawn.

Anyone have an opinion on which would be better?

Does Carnival ever include the "free booze" package on their cruises?

    Nope...Carnival doesn't have a "free booze" package.

I've been on NCL a few times...in a lot of ways it's similar to Carnival. I enjoyed my cruises on NCL....nothing wrong with giving them a try!

  3. Anybody have a PVP or someone else with credible knowledge about when the Summer 2018 sailings will be released?

My PVP who has been fairly reliable had told me that the sailings would be released in the 2nd or 3rd week of July.

Just curious if this is what you all are hearing as well. Looking to book something for July or August and am anxiously awaiting the release date.

Also keeping our fingers crossed that Boston will return as a Port/part time port.

    Thanks for any info.

My PVP told me recently.....he expected summer 2018 sailings would be released late this year. And...since I want to cruise out of Boston to Nova Scotia....he said 2018 would be the perfect time to book it.icon12.gif

  4. This is first my cruise in about 20 years. I read somewhere that the midnight Buffett has gone away.. Does anyone know if that is true ? I'm going on my cruise next Monday on the Conquest.

The midnight buffet is long gone. However...they still have them on Journey cruises. Hope you have a wonderful cruise on the Conquest.

  5. Once back in port, how long to be off the ship and to the airport? Arriving into Port Canaveral and leaving from Orlando Intl Airport. Wanting to book an early flight.[/quote

It depends on U.S. customs. We're usually off within a couple hours after arrival. I wouldn't book a flight earlier than 11:00....but that's me.:)

  6. I'm going to look at how long we'll have in each port and see if that makes a difference to us too. and since the Miracle may be in China by the time we go, this all may change.

Recent reports state that the Miracle is remaining in U.S. Also...if you decide on overnighting in PV...try the "Cheeky Monkey". Dollar beers and great sunset views. Whatever you decide....hope you have a great time!:)

P.S. If you decide on Cabo.....Baja Brewery has the best views in town.

  7. Have 64 sailing days taking a 6 days cruise will be 70 and then taking a 5 days cruise, now when we get on the ship for the 5 days cruise will we be platinum? [/quote

You betcha! Boarding docs should say "priority". Enjoy!

  8. With the exception of the Hawaii cruises, is Carnival repeating any of the Journeys itins? Or adding different itins?

We were on the Miracle Mexican Riviera Journeys cruise in January. Don't think Carnival will repeat it :(. Not too sure how much money was brought in over and above the cruise fare. I know the photographers hardly took any pictures and rarely saw anyone in the shops. Over 25% were Diamond and Platinum, that's unheard of on the West Coast.

We enjoyed the itin, doing another similar 10 day one on Princess.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app[/quot

    Sadie,

We were on the Miracle cruise also. We were hoping Carnival would do it again. But..the day before the cruise ......there were several cabins in every category..still available. Carnival probably won't do it again.:(

Like you...we are going to try Princess for the 10 day itineraries.

  9. Aren't the gratuities built into the cost of the trip? I'm reading on the Carnival website that for an 8-day sail, gratuities are $96. I'm hoping that's not in addition to what I've already paid. I know there are gratuities for room service, and per drink if you're not on the cheers package. What else?

No.....the gratuities are in addition to your fare. If you don't gamble in the casino, book shore excursions, go to any specialty restaurants, use the the internet, purchase anything from the stores onboard etc..... there shouldn't be any extra charges.

  10. I still don't get it, either. It's another word for a musical, I guess? Not sure how a "playlist show" is different than the shows that were performed years ago, though.

    It's a musical...but w/o a live band and talented singers...its seems like one small step above.........karaoke:eek:.

  11. Isn't Cabo a tender port? Are you saying that the ship pulls up anchor and goes back out to sea and circles around and then drops anchor the next morning? Really curious as we are considering doing either the 7 night out of Long Beach that overnights in Cabo or overnights in PV.

They pull up anchor & return the next morning. I prefer overnighting in PV!

  12. Wondering if Carnival will repeat the Journey cruises itins. Hawaii is always on the schedule but wondering about the others.

We really enjoyed the 13 day Mexican Riviera cruise and haven't seen it in the newly released cruises. We just booked a 10 day on Princess because Carnival isn't repeating this itin (yet).

I guess Princess will be our choice for longer MR cruises...unless Carnival decides to repeat the 13 day MR cruise next year. The 13 day MR cruise had many cabins still unsold the day before the cruise. So...Carnival might figure it wouldn't be profitable enough..to do it again next year.

We loved the the 13 day MR Journeys cruise...was hoping for a repeat in 2017.

  13. Sadly, from what I have heard, she is getting the new Playlist Production shows and losing the show band which makes me very sad. Was on her in Jan. and one of the best cast I had seen on a Carnival ship in years!

    Pat

The Playlist production shows are poor at best. I miss the show band & talented singers and dancers. I went to one Playlist show...never again.:(

  14. Send that tub to China ASAP. That ship needs a COMPLETE gut and retool. Good riddance. Worst ship in the fleet in my opinion. Others love it tho.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Splendor in Long Beach..after the Miracle leaves. Then in 2018..if the Splendor does go to China...I hope we get a Conquest class ship.
