  1. :D

The only thing I want them to do is to keep non potty trained kids out of the pools. I said nothing about fines, banning kids under 5, etc. NOT POTTY TRAINED = NO POOLS. NO SWIM DIAPERS, NO NAKED BOTTOMS. Period. Enforce it. If parents get out of hand, call Security and let them deal with it.

I agree that there is a large population that should not be allowed to reproduce.

EXACTLY! Now all we have to do is to see they ENFORCE those rules. And we know by Carnivals' history on doing that!!!

  2. You aren't supposed to use them in the ship's pools...not enough room...but you can take them ashore, to the beach!

I know, but I am in my 70's and can't use the ladders in the big pools so I like to go to the serenity pool where there are steps. Unfortunately, I don't sim and the pool water is right above my chin so I can't relax there either. So I thought of cutting a noodle in half just to sit on so I can enjoy the pool a little.

  3. Thanks everyone for all of your responses. I decided to book the premium balcony cabin 7301 but now my fear is that the life boats that are a few decks down will ruin my view straight down but I know the last time I went to Alaska I spent more time looking out rather than down. Does anyone have an opinion on this??

    Thanks

    Tina :)

You will love it. We were in 7299 and would book it again. If you stand at the railing you will see the tops of the life boats but for us was not a issue at all. Sitting down you never notice them. The room and balcony are l 1/2 times the size of a regular balcony room and I think we also had a lounge chair. ENJOY!!!

  4. No. Every few weeks, during turnarond, they actually physically relocate the staterooms that connect to different areas of the deck. So those deck plans only reflect right now. If your cruise is more than a week or two away, they will most likely move those rooms.

???? LOL!!! Is this a late April fools joke?

  5. As a non smoker, I love the changes. Smoke doesn't bother me, but I have a relative that is allergic to smoke, she gets stuffed up and her throat starts to close. I'm sorry that an addiction doesn't allow you to have a good time on a cruise. My mom smoked for 45 years and quit and is much healthier because of it. It's not like you can't smoke at all. Just have to go to different areas.

Also, taking your tips away from hard working employees is a childish way of trying to show your displeasure. Think about that, your depriving someone of pay because you dislike changes that carnival made that those workers had ZERO to do with. Shame....

Thank you for saying exactly what I was thinking!! Now I won't have to, lol!

  6. Hello

What a horrible promenade deck! Obviously the bean counters decreed no worthwhile promenade deck because it would take away from revenue producing space like up charge dining spots and the like. What a shame. I will never sail on this ship.

If you love promenade decks check out the Queen Mary 2. Now that is a fabulous promenade deck!

    Deck Chair

I agree with you 100%. They have ruined the deck. It's only for walking/jogging as there's no room sit let alone see the ocean. Looks very institutional to me, yuk!

  7. Why Thank You!

With the rules it's kinda just a bit of a guideline, just to bring light on what things kinda make it flow a bit weird, but I do understand if you do happen to do it on accident. And as for the updates, I'll try to get an entire day's worth written up at once and then post that all at the same time, to hopefully decrease the amount of checking back time :)

You are a sweetheart. Looking forward to the rest of your review!!!!!!! Thanks!!!

  8. I want to thank you for what I expect will be a very complete review from a young cruiser.

I noted your "rules" and as we CC members are "old" compared to you, we often do what you mentioned without thinking. If we forget again PLEaSE forgive us.

I'm not speaking for other CC members, just for my self but....

It would be highly appreciated if you would compile our review and post everything at once, or at least the same day as it is inconvenient sometimes to keep checking back, over and over. I know you understand. Sometimes these reviews go on for weeks.

    and thank you.

  9. I am trying to decide on these two cruises in November. The 7 day is $500 cheaper than the 8 day. I prefer more seas days so prefer the 8 day but it seems quite a jump in price for only one extra day. The ports themselves don't enter into my decision. I would like to an extra few of days in Cocoa beach and the $500 would pretty much cover that. Just wondering what your thoughts might be on this. (I'm kinda a budget cruiser so hence the question. Thanks everyone!!!

  10. Greetings!

I just did a quick scan of cruises for July 2017 and I must say Royal Caribbean was the most expensive except for Disney. Would you consider another line.? Carnival has 6 - 9 day cruises A LOT cheaper. The three new ships, Magic, Breeze and Dream are really very nice. Just a thought. Hope you find one that pleases you both in price and amenities.

  11. After 7 CCL and 2 RCI (I can only compare Oasis class except for what I read about other RCI ships), I still find that a lot depends on the specific ship and crew. I count CCL Breeze in my top 3, right beside Oasis, Triumph and Allure. But in the same class as Breeze, Dream was a flop the second time around (aside from having a 230 sq' room with 2 baths). Oasis, I thought the staff did a fine job. Allure, not nearly so much.

    1. JR has an actual menu (which includes great 'shakes) and I think the $5 cover charge is more than worth the experience.

(Beyond that, I'm thoroughly in love with the 25+ dining/munching choices on the bigger RCI ships, and many of them are free.)

    2. My favorite ships for shows (of any kind) have been Triumph (in 2008) and Oasis (2011). Both were equally (and thoroughly) enjoyable.

    3. Agree.

    4. As others have said and will say, I've cheated a bit on both lines and never a word was said. It's a bit like those emails we get (from both lines) about our boarding times - the ones I've never once paid attention to or abided by.

CCL has bigger Balcony and OV rooms. RCI generally has a lot more food choices (and usually better coffee).

For me it's a toss-up. It almost wholly depends on which of my favorite ships has the best deal at the right time. I do want to try more RCI ships, but that's the only real edge that Royal has for me right now.

Yes, JR has an actual menu but the $5 cover charge is only for the food. Drinks, shakes and ice cream are an extra charge.

  12. ummm, where did I go wrong here? I was asking about changes, not complaining about them, and all of a sudden you think I want to pay more for a tea bag?? there is a reason why I don't stay on the carnival portion of this site anymore.

what are the new changes since January is all I wanted to know.

You did nothing wrong here. I happens all the time. After the first few posts, one comment leads to another and soon they are off subject. Some times you will get an answer that has nothing to do with what you ask. Some people just want to "talk" and don't "listen" before they "speak". Nuts, I know. But most of the time you get very good information you can't find anywhere else. Just shake your head in disbelief and keep asking your questions. EVENTUALLY someone will answer. (Hopefully, lol!)

  13. If you book Early Saver and cancel prior to Final Payment deadline, your deposit (less $50pp penalty) is held toward cruisefare for a future cruise w/in 2 years; if you cancel after the Final Paym, ent deadline, the standard cancellation penalties (approaching 100% as you approach sailaway) apply. If there's chance you'll need to change or cancel, don't book Early Saver. Ken.

    Thanks, I'll remember that!

  14. Thanks, I was afraid of that. If I book Early Saver and have to cancel (without cancel insurance), I would lose my deposit at 60 days, right? I know the longer you wait the more you lose. I have my eye on a November cruise and want Early Saver but an operation is possible at that time and wanted to know my options if any.

  15. NIH tries to piece the puzzle together about non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) and the scientific facts .... known to date: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4406911/

"......We can conclude that NCGS should be regarded as an independent disease outside of coeliac disease and wheat allergy, and that the number of patients affected is likely to be limited. Many questions remain unanswered and it needs to be verified whether the elimination of dietary gluten alone is sufficient for the control of symptoms, and to understand the overlap with other components of wheat....."

Yes, there is a distinctive difference between coeliac decease and gluten allergies. The allergies don't do the damage like coeliac. People with allergies to gluten probably aren't born with the two man genes that can cause the decease.

  16. Actually, people who are prone or have Coeliac decease are born with one or two major genes that cause it. One in 30 people can get this decease and 30% of people have it and maybe don't know it. It develops at different times for different people. So yes, I would say they could be on the verge depending on symtyoms or lack of them
