  1. I think that flight time would be fine. Renting a van might be more cost effective. Consider leaving the group at the port and having your designated driver take the car rental shuttle to pick up the van then drive back and pick everyone up. This might be easier on the kids. Just a thought. Good luck and happy cruising!

  2. If you do decide to rent a scooter you will need a handicap room which is a bit larger and the door is also wider. Leaving a scooter in the hall/passage way is frowned upon and maybe forbidden. Call a Carnival representative and they can probably switch rooms for no additional cost. Call as soon as you can.

  3. Instead of selecting your deck and room preference, try clicking

"Let Us Choose" within your preferred category (Inside, Outside, Verandah, etc.). Then a listing should pop up for each sub-category with the pricing. You may not even need to enter the names and mariner numbers. I have yet to see a time when my mariner number made a difference in the price quoted.

Another way to check pricing is to look them up on a third party site that can't be named here on CC. Try googling "cruise price drops" and look for a fishy site. You can pay a small fee to have them email you when the price fluctuates (but you don't have to pay anything just to check it yourself).

    Thank you!!!!

  4. I am trying to find the cost of my cruise. I am going thru HA "Anniversary cruise". Selected my deck and room preference , filled out our names and mariner numbers but still don't see the cost of the cruise or any of the specials that are supposed to be included. Thanks, I don't know what I am doing wrong? Must be an easier way

  5. Too many people are confusing "fire resistant" with "fire retardant". All over-the-door organizers, to one degree or another, are fire retardant. The only way one would be fire resistant is if it was made from steel or asbestos.

Just wondering, but then why would Carnival stipulate this if it was already covered?

  6. We didn't eat at the Fish and Chips restaurant. I kind of forgot about it actually. It is upstairs from the buffet.

I do have to say my kids LOVED the Circle C and had a great time and made friends with a lot of kids. So that was a big plus. Jessica from Peru was the director.

Also, we miss the sushi....we always seemed to miss the tasting bar.

Our last trip was 4 years ago on the Glory and with all the changes it just seemed so different this time around. We are not giving up on Carnival by any means, but I do hope they realize the cutbacks have an adverse effect on both employees and the customers.

It's been a few years since we were on the Glory before the "2" upgrades but we enjoyed it very much. Although it could be better now we found the Fish and Chips to be very greasy and weren't thrilled with it. A lot of people lately seem very satisfied so maybe it has improved.

I think the worst "cutbacks" have been the reduced number of staff. They are obviously overworked to the point of frustration thereby effecting their attitude. They are obviously not happy. Carnival is doing a huge disservice to them as well as their passengers. I still will cruise with Carnival but am disappointed in some of their decisions and know too that other cruise lines are doing some of the same things. It makes me unhappy to see some of the crew unhappy.

  7. There was a time span when Park West was off the ships but they returned at least two years ago.

That was probably because they were getting A LOT of complaints about them. I have seen their "art" and they look like cheap copies to me in a fancy frame. They are not even real oil paint

ings but "prints" that resemble cheap photographs. I'm amazed people buy them.

  8. The solarium pool area is lovely. The steps going into the pool are great. The pool itself isn't heated and TOO DEEP for non swimmers. I am 5'7 and had to hold my chin up to stand. I'm not a swimmer either and was VERY disappointed that I couldn't relax and enjoy the water. I will bring a (small) floaty the next time.

  9. Yes, my husband and I went on a two week cruise and we had a carry on and a tote each. We didn't take formal clothes but did fine with a dressy top and slacks and shirt and tie with black dockers. Brought his dress shoes but I wore nice sandals. I did do a little hand wash a few times. They do have a laundry service on board if you need it.:D

  10. Sorry, can't help you there. But maybe you could write a review on the Magic as it just came out of dry dock and we are anxiously awaiting any and all reports on their upgrades. One more favor, if you have pictures we would be soooo grateful. Thanks, hope you get a reply on your original question.

  11. If you google "Nieuw Amsterdam deck plans and then choose the selection "cruise critic www", you will find a page, NIEUW AMSTERDAM DECK PLANS, to choose any deck you want and will be able to see by the diagrams where the cabins are located and compare sizes of balconies. Deck four has the deepest. I usually look and compare my desired cabin in relation to the location of the elevators/stairs. Then you can look at decks both above and below or any other deck and get a good idea where your cabin will be in relationship to this area. Cabins below any bathroom area is fine.

  12. i am sure i will get a lot of heat for saying this, but when did cruisers become so entitled? I just posted a review on the anthem stating that the cruise was not perfect...no cruise is. However, the way people treated the cruise employees was appalling! You could not pay me enough to work on a cruise ship dealing with these people on a daily basis.

Some cc members have remarked that they felt a lot of movement on this cruise....what ship were they on? We had the calmest seas ever! If you do not want to feel the motion, don't take a cruise! Regarding the food and service, if your food is cold, kindly send it back like you would in any restaurant. If your dessert is too small, they will be happy to bring more. If someone does not smile when they hand you a towel, so what? Who knows what that person is personally dealing with!

The food was sometimes good and other times not so good. It happens. I am sure that the waiters were apprehensive, especially after the way some cruisers treated them. After 10 days on this ship the majority of waiters were wonderful, and went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied with our meal. I witnessed a woman being really mean to her waiter after he tried everything possible to please her. She was just a nasty person.

These people depend on these jobs and most are working really hard. Please think twice before you open your mouth and start yelling at them. That could be your son or daughter, brother or sister, husband or wife trying to make a living.

This class of ship isn't for everyone. Royal has tried a whole new approach with dining, the type of shows, etc. If you don't like it, try another ship or cruise line. Do not take it out on the employees.

The old saying, "treat others like you want to be treated" should be posted on elevators on every cruise ship.

    Enough said.....

    thank you for this post!!!!!

  13. As I post a zillion times, don't imply that your rare experience is the norm and basically tell others not to cruise RCL because of your isolated incident. I wonder if it was as bad as you say. Most complainers that go beyond just pointing out their experience have a tendency of complaining about everything in general and stretch the truth.

We will be going on our 30th RCL cruise in a less than two months and have always booked with RCL over the phone. Never, has there ever been any misunderstanding, rudeness or, anything else. Smooth and enjoyable.

So, do I call you a liar, and you call me a liar?

All I'm saying is...if you had or have a bad experience, that's fine and you can say so. But don't basically tell people not to cruise RCL implying that everyone will be treated like you were, because that's not true.

HMM! I went back and reread his post two more times and all got out of it was a person expressing their personal experience with RCL and nothing more. Why was the word "LIAR" even mentioned? That wasn't rude? Too many assumptions maybe from a diehard RCL fan????
