  1. UPDATE!!!!!!

His ID came in the mail today, we are so relieved. Our cruise is tomorrow. Thank you all for your advice. Now time for me to pack. :D

THANK GOD! And I DO mean literally!! Now my blood pressure can go back to normal! SOOOOO happy things worked out!

  2. Sorry, never stayed in those. But googling and looking at deck plans this seems to be a forward inside room that is shaped like most of the other rooms on this deck, not sideways. The room isn't as large as the balcony rooms so may only have a chair and no couch. The beds are at the far end of the room opposite of the entrance and the desk unit is at the foot of the bed against the bathroom wall and the closets are across from the bathroom door in the entrance of the room. Hope this helps.

  3. American Table menus look disgusting? Perhaps you are better suited for Cunard where you can dine like a queen among the wealthy (Oh I forgot, Carnival owns Cunard).

Now THAT was uncalled for! Do you always respond like that when people have a different opinion or maybe:eek: just got up on the wrong side of the bed?

  4. Ok, call me crazy, but I am super excited to see that water on Carnival is only $3.99 for our next cruise! Just got off NCL Getaway, a 12 pack of water was $39.95!

LOL! You're CRAZY! (Im' sorry but you told me to do that) AND I find that very hard to believe unless unless it was a 12 pack of gallon containers.:confuse

Deep apology here!!! I looked it up and you are so right!!! UNBELIEVABLE! Sorry for doubting you!

  5. The key phrase you used was "at home." If there's a store in the middle of the ocean that the ship will stop at and let us buy 24 waters for $2.99 please let us know. Since I feel I will be waiting a while for that answer I will just happily continue to pay this fair price of $3.99 for 12 water bottles that Carnival is offering to its passengers. It's still better than the $22.50 they were charging for 24 waters last year at this time.

No reason to wait. I was just pointing out the more than double difference. But on a cruise EVERYTHING is overpriced. I will willing pay the $3.00 for the added convenience (and I have no choice except for not buying).

Even if there WAS a store in the middle of the ocean they wouldn't let us buy it there either. The ship buys their water on land in huge quantities at reduced prices because of that. It seems strange to me that people defend what the cruise lines do to passengers just because they find out it's popular and keeps raising prices and not just on water. It happens on ALL cruise lines but doesn't mean we LIKE it.

Your sarcasm wasn't really rude but unnecessary. Enjoy your water! (Sarcasm)

  6. You can't be serious. It's an increase of $1. So if you consider a case 2-12 packs, you are paying $8 instead of $6. It's extremely reasonably priced. Over what you would have purchased to bring onboard or any water you can purchase on any other line. If it's not an acceptable brand, the $1 increase is not making a difference.

I can purchase a case (24) of spring water for $2.99 almost anytime at home and $2.50 or less quite often on sale. Just say'in!

  7. If they knew major renovations were being done all night long, perhaps consider not opening the cabins to guests? They had friends stay 4 cabins down, and the noise was minimal.

I agree 100%. They KNOW this type of work is going to effect certain cabins but continue to sell them, sometimes thousands of dollars, to unsuspecting passengers that are unfamiliar on how to pick a cabin. They know people are going to be bothered by it ESPECIALLY at night. I would be piss.d.

  8. 30% is actually quite generous. They should accept it and try again, hopefully they will have a wonderful time.

If you feel there is more to be done, I can only suggest you contact corporate offices. Only they can do anything about it....certainly not CC members.

I may be wrong but I think they were looking for instructions on what to do NOT solutions from any CC members. A little understanding of their unfortunate experience might have been more helpful. Just sayin"

  9. I totally agree with you. I have said for a long time that I wish the cruise lines would include the fare in the price of the cruise, or at least give the passenger the ability to prepay it as part of the fare. I think its crazy that it is added to your on board account each day.

I can't for the life of me understand the cruise lines thinking on this.[/

I have always prepaid our gratuities on our Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruises.

  10. Yes, we had an aft cabin on deck four going to Alaska. Our first cruise so everything was exciting and didn't really focus to much on the negatives. The cabin itself was about three feet longer and the balcony was really long, at least eight feet and was mostly covered. We noticed a bit of soot on the chairs some mornings. We noticed the engine noise the first night but not after that. It was a long walk to the elevators. It was a wonderful trip!

  11. I prefer the Aft Pool on the ships, so can comment on it. The ladders have the slight slant on the Westerdam, Zuiderdam, and Oosterdam.

When we were on the Prinsendam, the aft pool was raised above deck level and had steep up/down ladders. I did not attempt to use them. The main Lido pool also had the steep ladders, and I found them far more difficult than the slanted steps on the other ships.

    Thank you Mrs. W.!!!

  12. On the Nieuw Amsterdam in the Lido pool the ladders into the pool were slightly slanted out and not straight up and down like most pool ladders. It was so much easier to climb out of the pool with these. Can anyone tell what other Holland America ship have these type of ladders and what pool(s) they are in. Thanks so much!

  13. Having spent literally years at sea, the biggest fear I have cruising today is the panic by passengers during an event. So far it seems the crew did an outstanding job protecting everyone, by keeping them calm as well as minimizing injuries.

However I must say some of the questions, comments, suggestions made by certain posters are simply amazing and illogical. For instance, there was no need to worry about life vests or muster stations during this event. The safest place was on this ship, period. Simply put, any decision of leaving the ship via life vest or lifeboat would have resulted in death. Thank goodness the passengers on this voyage listened to their captain, stayed calm and made it through the event. They now have a sea story to tell which could make any crusty old sailor cringe.

    We seem to agree!

  14. Isn't that where all those schoolchildren died on that Japanese ferry?

I'm not familiar with that insident but knowing the history of some of these ferry insidents in these countries tells me probably thet were overloaded and common sense will tell you that they did not have the saftey rules we have on our cruise ships and curcial intructions to abandon ship or stay aboard until further notice.. Did you by any chance k find out all the details of this tragedy? I still would take may chances on a big ship, not sinking than I would in one of those small boats in the seas they were expieriencing.

  15. There have been no reports of mustering, and I assure you that if they HAD gone to their stations, someone would have posted that.

Maybe reconfirming their mustering stations would have been ok. But unless the ship was sinking there would be no way they would put passengers in those small boats, set them out in those stormy waters and not be guilty of downing them all. The safest place was exactly where they were told to go....their cabins.

  16. So I have a stupid question. Now keep in mind - I haven't been on a cruise yet. Going in April for the first time.

But my question is if the passengers are to stay in their rooms - how are they eating?

    Prayers everyone is okay!!

Obviously they aren't unless they find food in the mini refrig and/or have snacks they have stashed in their room. You won't be in your room forever but the damage to the kitchen/eating facilities probably won't be able to provide food for thousands of passengers anytime soon. Probably will have everyone disembark at the nearest port
