As my cruise check in time approaches, I just have a few questions. It’s been several years since our last cruise, and I just don’t remember the process.

What I do know is that I have a suite booked so I know check in is earlier for us. But I do think I’m going to stay up that night until the check in opens. It’s midnight EST correct?
Also, it’s our first cruise with kids. So what info will I need to have for them? We all have passports. Will I need those numbers for check in?
I’ll also input my credit card at that time too, correct?
I know I can skip through and choose the arrival time and then go back. So I plan to do that.
Any other tips? I’m trying to make this as painless a possible since I plan to stay up and do it.

I just checked in last week for my Horizon cruise next week- I stayed up until midnight. I choose my arrival time- saved it- (made sure it saved) and went back the next day to complete all the other information.

Ok this is kind of off topic but something I've always wondered about.  You talk about tipping but tipping doesn't give any advantage does it?  And, for example, roulette-if someone has won many times they'll give the "wheel spinner" afew chips as a tip.  Do they actually get to keep that or is it pooled?

Tips in the casino are pooled. Does it give you an advantage, probably not but it is something I do.

Tomorrow morning I catch the train to Bologna, it's one hour away. Planned is HOHO bus tomorrow and guided walking tour on Monday. Both tours promise to be chock-full of history and other educational stuff I'll be sure to share, don't worry Roscoe I won't let you down.

hi- I was speaking to a friend yesterday and she was saying her nieces are in Italy and there was an earthquake in Bologna. I believe it was on Wednesday, so they had issues with the trains not running. I hope you don't have same issues. Safe travels.

If it's that bad for us, think how bad it is for HIM.  Everyone standing, pointing cameras and phones at him.....I remember some record to beat Jeter had going.  When he did (can't remember exactly what it was) he said he just wanted to get it over with!  💪  I'm sailing tomorrow.  Hoping he hits a few into the bleachers tonight!

I believe it was Jeter's 3K hit. Ironically it was a HR, something Jeter was not really known for. Take care and have an awesome cruise. Whenever Judge gets his HR, I am sure you will see it hundreds of times..

  5. YAY!! a review of the Legend. I was onboard for 8 nights the last week of July, had a great time and won a decent amount in the casino. So that's always good- ha.. I really enjoyed Chopsticks. I believe I ate lunch there everyday and had never tried it before. I also was on deck 5 but the other side in cabin 5133, I think. Our cabin steward was Anthony and honestly the best steward I ever had. Anthony did a couple of things for us that really impressed me. Actually a lot of the crew impressed me.. the higher ups not so much.

Anyway, I have noticed Patty plays bingo each cruise, have you ever won? Looking forward to the rest of your review. It will tide me over to my Horizon cruise next month. Take care..

Thanks. I did a little seat upgrade on my flights to/from Miami last night. $40 there, $25 back. Saved $15 with the savers club. Think I’m at about $135 in total savings on that $70 membership with one more trip to book before it expires.

Where are you staying in Miami? I am having such a hard time deciding on a hotel for my cruise next month on the Horizon.  Hotel prices are ridiculous.. I am holding 2 reservations, 1 at Aloft Brickell and the other AC Hotel Brickell but not sold on either. TY

This is jalapeño tortilla. Beef. Black beans. Everything else on it. Guac and hot sauce.

I’ll probably be more of a BI guy now that guys has gone downhill.

I had a 10 minute wait for a corona doing it the right way at BI. A lady tried going in the sever area there and was told to go to the walk up area.

I knew the people by the barstools weren’t staying so I waited for one to leave, then I moved in. I took my beer and burrito to the buffet where they don’t have bar service but they do have available seating. No seating is available on lido

You are lucky they have Corona's available. I was on the Legend last week of July and they did not have any!  I did speak to the hotel manager the last day of the cruise and he told me they actually had them but they were the wrong size so they couldn't serve them. (they were a couple ounces smaller than advertised)

That's the complete opposite of our experience on RCL.

The main reason we are at Carnival is because of the kid's programs and the Water Works. My kids hated RCL, so, we stay with Carnival.

I agree about the kids clubs. I took my niece and nephews on many cruises. Their 1st was NCL, then RC and they thought RC club was better than NCL. Then we went on Carnival and that was it- they only wanted to cruise on Carnival. They probably enjoyed the ships more on RC, (Allure and Oasis) but overall it was Carnival. Worked out well for me because I get better Casino Deals on Carnival.

  9. I have always received credit for my free casino cruises so I don't think that is it. The only cruise I didn't receive points for was for a cruise I won at a charity event. If I remember correctly, the cruise was donated as a prize and the money I paid went to the charity, so non revenue as far as Carnival was concerned. The cruise is listed when I look at past cruises but with 0 points.

  10. Who issued your tickets? Your TA? if so they are responsible and should have told you a month ago. If you booked thru Southwest, they should have told you a month ago and protected you on another flight (if they had one)  Even if they didn't have a flight to protect you on, they should have told you a month ago and maybe the new flight wouldn't be so expensive. So I would either go back to your TA or Southwest, whoever issued your ticket and neglected to tell you. Best of Luck!

We also debarked yesterday and I wish I had seen your thread beforehand - I would have recommended the lamb chops medium-rare (see pic in my review).

I had the lamb chops for the 1st time in December on the Freedom and they were so good! I usually order the ribeye (and eat only 1/4 of it) but will get the lamb chops from now on. Actually my meal on the Freedom was probably my favorite of all time (15-20 times) food and especially the service was excellent! Best waiter I have ever had, any line/any ship.

When I got the socks on the Freedom in December, I remember thinking, socks really?!!  (inside the black box) I actually love them. Very comfy.. Glad you enjoyed the Mardi Gras. I was on the 2nd sailing, Guys was actually excellent, food and service. Chibang was not. Dinner was 2 plus hours and food was just ok, orders mixed up. Glad to see that Chibang is better now .

UKstages,  yes I have already called and had the credit extended - purchased with American Airlines in March 2022, expired March 2022.  I was able to get them to extend it through June 2022, but once I use the credits was told that no further changes could be made.  I did check out their current cancellation policy....so I guess they're trying to push more people into buying a higher fare ticket with the assurance you can change it. The price difference is huge when buying for 12 people so this doesn't help me much.  I will still give them a call.

    • No more change fees for all domestic, short-haul international and select long-haul international flying on Premium Cabin, Premium Economy and Main Cabin fares.
    • Basic Economy fares bought on or after April 1, 2021 are non-refundable and non-changeable.

I am not sure if above is true- once you issue a ticket you should go by the new rules of the ticket with the exception of, if the original ticket was non refundable it will remain non refundable. Meaning you cant turn a non refundable ticket into a refundable ticket. You should have another year to use the ticket if you cancel. Basic economy fares are the low frills tickets and pre covid were non refundable - they have waived that restriction for last year or so. Good luck!
