  1. My "booked cruises" which were there this morning are no longer there. I found out from someone that an excursion I had booked (and I have written confirmation) was cancelled. Oceania did not notify me. So I logged in this morning to see for myself, and sure enough that excursion is no longer listed and removed from my list of booked excursions. So, this afternoon I logged in to choose something else and now the booked cruises are not there. I tried to add it back and it would not work. Something seems to be wrong with their website. Anyone else having problems?

If I book a Regent cruise with a Regent Elite Personal Consultant, can the Consultant give me OBC as a TA might?

If not, why would I use the Regent consultant to book?

I don't know how these other posts got here. I was trying to respond to SnorkelAwaay. As others have said, it's a good idea to find a good travel agent who can give you other perks that a Regent consultant can't give you. You can probably find one on your cruise if you ask others.

Hi was wondering if anyone has ever traveled RSSC with a younger kid. I've never been on a cruise before and I'm considering booking an Alaskan cruise and I like that this company has smaller ships. I will however be traveling with my (then) 5-year-old daughter. I've gone lots of places with her and we don't do typical 'kid' things when we travel, but I just wanted to see if she (or I) would feel out of place. I'm also looking into a cruise on Silversea, so I'm going to ask the same question on that forum. Any insight would be amazing.

    Thanks!

Normally there are not many kids on Regent, but Alaska is the exception. Our first cruise on Regent was to Alaska. We did not have kids with us but there were kids. They even have some kid's programs and activities. Try to go in June, July, or August (as opposed to May or September) and there are bound to be other kids who are on school break.

  4. Our guide in Quito:

    Dennis Yepez

    info@guanguiltagua.com

Tour 1 - Pick up from the JW Marriott at 9:30 am. Drive through Guayllabamba valley, visit to Guayllabamba village for fruit tasting. After this we stop at Santa Rosa view place to see the landscape of Guayllabamba valley and Cayambe valley. Drive through the north part of Cayambe valley and watch beautiful cultivated green areas and get to the Cajas pass at 10000 ft. to reach Imbabura province. We stop at Miralago view place from where we observe an amazing view of San Pablo Lake and Indian villages around plus the Imbabura volcano. Then we go to Otavalo Indian Market, where you can have time to see the goods and buy some souvenirs. (Instead of going to the leather factory spend more time at Poncho Plaza (Indigenous Market). Drive north towards the Historical Hacienda Pinsaqui to take lunch with Garden View. Drive back to Quito and drop at the JW Marriott at 5:30 pm. This trip will take 8 hours.

Tour 2 -  Pick up at 9:30 am from the JW Marriott.  Scenic drive along the Amazonas Avenue to drive towards the Equatorial Line zone in order to the see Pululahua volcano view place within its geobotanical Reserve where you will have the chance to admire one of the largest populated calderas along the planet (5 km. of diameter) plus interesting species of Andean plants and flowers including orchids. Drive down towards the Real Equator Inti Ñan in situ Museum where we will learn about Coreolli's theory and its influence around the globe plus some other fun experiments that will give us proof that we are on the Real Equator. After this we will drive to one of the most beautiful suburbs of Quito: "Cumbaya" in order to have lunch at the best Ecuadorian fusion food Garden Restaurant: "La Octava de Corpus".  Later we will drive up on the Spanish Conquistadors XVI road in order to discover the marvelous Colonial Guapulo XVI century church and village. After this we will drive up to the Guapulo view place to see the amazing adjacent Guayllabamba Andean valley to learn about the topography and configuration of the Eastern and Western Andes from Quito. Once we are finished with this we will drop you at the JW Marriott at around 2:30 pm.

We ended up modifying the above and spent some time walking around the old city of Quito instead of doing the night tour with Silversea.

Hello, all! I am popping in to get your sage advice on all things Regent. I have daydreamed about sailing on Regent ever since I became aware of the line in my early 20s, and I think it may finally be time for that dream to become a reality. I don’t want to overwhelm you with all of my questions, so I’ll start with just a few.

    - Does anyone have a POC/agent at Regent who they trust and could refer me to? I requested pricing and submitted a form online to receive a call a few days ago and haven’t heard back, which is a bit upsetting. I’d welcome any connections you may have for this!

    - I’m considering an upcoming sailing on Splendor for me and my brother, who are in our late 30s and 20s, respectively. I understand we are likely on the younger side for Regent travelers, which is absolutely fine on our end, but my concern is that people may not want to engage with us. My brother has never been on a cruise before and he absolutely loves getting to know new people, so I want to make sure he will have ample opportunity to do that!

Thank you for any help you can provide to get us moving in the right direction!

    -Taylor

Unfortunately, Cruise Critic does not allow us to recommend a travel agent or point of contact at Regent.

Our air is ticketed and we leave for Quito in about seven weeks! I'm back again with more questions for those who have been on the Origin recently.

    1. Is there a guest laundry room on board? I was unable to find one in the deck plan. We have a total of 12 days travel. The opportunity to do laundry once would be very welcome.

    2. When you filled out the Traveler's Health Attestation for Ecuador, what did you put for your contact information while in Ecuador?

    3. I see there's a "Quito by Night" excursion included. Is that on the first night in Quito or the second? Can you provide any other info, such as the timing, whether dinner is included, etc?

    4. Is there time to take a (non-Silversea) excursion for the day in Quito between the two nights, such as a 10-hour trip to the Otovalo market, or an 8-hour trip to the Cloud Forest?

    5. At the end of the cruise, approximately what time do we arrive in Guayaquil after disembarking in San Cristobal?

Thank you in advance for any info you can provide.

    1. I honestly can't recall if there were laundry machines on the ship, but I don't think there were. Where did you see it on the deck plan?

    2. I think we just put the JW Marriott.

    3. We did not do the Quito By Night tour, but it was the second night, the night before the cruise. We were told it was more of a bus ride, drive by tour. We hired a private guide and we spent two days with him. Let me know if you want his information.

    4. See #3.

    5. I don't remember the exact time but I remember we had dinner at the hotel. Then we stayed at the hotel until going to the airport for our early morning flight. I think it was at 2 or 3 am.

20k each if u each have a card and charge 20k on each card

Actually the insurance through Chase only requires that you put "some portion" of the trip on the card to qualify for the insurance coverage. Whereas with American Express Platinum you have to put 100% of the cruise on the card. The Chase coverage is better besides.

Really appreciate the information.  Looking forward to hearing how your trip and tour(s) go.  Our current schedule has in port for a day and a half or so.  Looks like you will be hitting all of the top spots.  Good luck.  Happy New Year.

We have half day in port plus a full day. We booked the tour on the full day obviously and we are starting really early in the morning. The Regent offerings for Kyoto are basically a bus ride back and forth and a visit to two of the sites. Happy New Year!

We will be taking this cruise as a BTB in 2024.  Would be interested in hearing of your travels and information re your tour/guide

    tks

We booked this tour in April, 2022 for April, 2023. There are four of us doing the tour. We booked with Ken S. At Tours by Locals. You can find him on the website. He was recommended to me by someone who did the same tour with him a few years ago. He has excellent reviews. Here is our itinerary:

    Meet at the cruise ship terminal in Kobe at 6:30 - via train or taxis - Sannomiya JR train station ( 7:00 ) - via JR conventional train - Kyoto station ( 8:00 ) - taxis - Golden pavilion ( 8:45 to 9:30 ) - taxis - Tenryuji temple ( 10:00 to 10:30 ) - Bamboo path ( 10:30 to 11:00 ) - lunch ( 11:00 to 11:45 ) - taxis - Kiyomizudera temple ( 12:45 to 13: 30 ) - taxis - Fushimi-inari shrine ( 14:00 to 14:30 ) - taxis - Kyoto station ( 15:00 ) - bullet train - Shinkobe station ( 15:45 )- taxis - cruise ship terminal ( 16:00 to 16:30 ).

As you can see, we are starting very early so we can include these 5 main sites and taking taxies between them. And we will take the bullet train coming back.

  10. We are booked Tokyo to Tokyo April 11, 2023. Our cruise includes a 3-night pre-cruise stay with some tours. The hotel Regent puts us up at is the Tokyo Hilton. We booked all our excursions with Regent except for the full day that we have in Kyoto. We booked a guide with Tours by Locals. This way we will be able to see more places than Regent offers on their tours, and we also will be taking the bullet train (one way, back to the ship). If anyone wants the name of our guide let me know.

We originally booked this cruise in 2018 for a 2021 sailing. Obviously that one was cancelled so we moved the booking to 2023. We've waited a long time to do this cruise and are looking forward to it.

My Boarding Pass was emailed yesterday. Ship is scheduled to be at Duncan Dock Berth E. Table Bay Hotel is lovely. Wish I was staying there. Unfortunately, the 3-day land package accommodations are at the Cullinan Southern Sun (ugh!) See you onboard.

    Fiona

We did not like the Cullinan Southern Sun. Such a poor choice for Regent.

  12. Much prefer Virgin Atlantic over British Airways, and the lounge at LHR is great! I did recently fly LHR-LAX on British Airways and was pleasantly surprised with their new business class seats. I hated the former configuration. That being said, I would choose VA over BA if I have a choice. I usually book with miles, so it's whatever airline I can secure award seats on.

Has Regent removed the button to download a pdf of all shore excursions? I know I’ve done this in the past, but can’t seem to remember where that button/link resides. Thx.

It's still there. When you go the page that shows your cruise, the link to click is directly above the itinerary map, right below where it says Itinerary and Excursions. When you click on that it will ask you for your email address and the pdf is immediately sent to you.

  14. We cruise on both. For us it's the ship, the itinerary, and comparing the costs. With Regent everything is included. With Oceania it's more a la carte. However, we don't take Regent's Air. We take the credit and book our own with miles. We also don't take the Oceania air. Gratuities are additional with Oceania. Excursions are included with Regent but they are mainly bus tours so I like being able to book private excursions with just a few people on Oceania. I think the food is actually better on Oceania. We just came back from a Regent cruise and we have 3 more cruises booked on Regent. We have 2 cruises booked on Oceania. We only like the Marina, Riviera, and new Vista on Oceania, and on Regent we only like the Explorer, Splendor, and new Grandeur....although we do have once cruise booked on the Voyager. I love the cabins and restaurant choices on those particular ships. Any more questions let me know. We also don't take the 1 night pre-cruise hotel with Regent. We take the credit for that too.

It doesn't look like they are moving the plumbing. Based on the photos below of old and new of veranda cabin bathrooms, it looks like the new shower replaces the tub and occupies the same space. The sink and toilet are in the same location. The old shower is gone; not sure what they are doing with that space but additional storage makes sense.

Where did you see these photos? Trying to see what the new bathroom will look like in the Penthouse suites.

That works if the O Life perk is  something you will use

For us  we rarely do the excursions & the drink package is not worth it for us

You basically are paying yourself  to have the NON refundable OBC

We take the excursions and do all the rest privately.

  17. 3 hours ago, GICNJC said:

If you take Olife, the airfare is included (plus one other item choice).  It is part of O's calculate fee.

Deviation of flight is 30 days either side, but costs $175 pp per flight to and from.

We always take the premium economy when purchasing the trip.  In our experiences there is no additional cost beyond the $175 if we choose other flight dates.  That Premium Economy price is substantially cheaper that doing it ourselves.  Note the Premium Economy is only for the international flight portions of the airfare.

You can take OLife and REMOVE the air. There is a credit for the air portion. That's what we always do.

Will be sailing to Antartica on the Scenic Eclipse in 2023.  Booking advice states that my  primary care physician must complete an online medical form .  Form available 90 days prior to sailing and the form must be returned no later than 60 days prior to sailing.   Booking advice further states “please arrange for a long consultation with your doctor to complete the online form.”.

Can anyone tell me what Scenic is requesting/how extensive the form is?  My spouse and I are seasoned travelers and have traveled to many remote areas.  We have never had to have a physician sign a form for us.

    Thank you in advance.

Was on the Eclipse in July. The medical form is online and it says it is supposed to be completed by your doctor. I read that others just filled it out themselves, and that's what we ended up doing. They never questioned it.

When you say 'we' I'm guessing it's two of you - IMO, the Cat H is too small for two people.  A G cabin isn't much more expensive and gives you more room and more storage.  Conversely, although an F2 might be even more expensive it really seems to hit the 'sweet spot' on the cost/comfort chart.

I'd definitely recommend at least a G cabin for not much more $$, and if you can stretch for an F2, I don't think you'd regret it.  The layout is much better in the F cabins, and the ocean-facing bed is sweet.  It's at least worth looking at the numbers, I think...

F2 is my favorite too! Simply love this cabin! Leaving in a few weeks for our next cruise on the Splendor in a F2 and two more booked after that.
