  1. Been in aft penthouse on Breakaway and it's great. Never had problem with soot. Had breakfast on balcony three times. Balcony is huge. Also you don't get the wind on aft balcony like you do in forward. But you don't get the sun all day. The layout of the room is good. When you come in there's a little bathroom then the little dining area then living room. There's a door to balcony there. Then the separate bedroom and bathroom. Then another door to balcony. You will love it. Plenty of storage.

  2. We did the cabana in august and really lived it. You get chips and three different salsa dips and a bowl of fruit and water. That comes with the cabana. We used our $50 food credit to get the shrimp and lobster. It's was good. There are two cabana waiters, one will get you drinks, the other will get you food from the buffet. You don't have to go get it yourself. The cabana also has a shower in the back and floats to use. It had a ceiling fan too. We had cabana #18 which had its only little beach. Don't think there were more then 30 people on the beach, felt like a private beach. At the end of the day, which was great, we were tired so they give you(if you ask) a ride in a jeer to get the tender to boat. It's quit a walk from the cabanas.

  3. I was on the Gem this summer and had the wifi package. I upgraded to the unlimited package. The package they give you in the package is 250 minutes which would cost separate is $125. The unlimited package is $175. I went to the Internet cafe and had them give me credit. They gave me a $125 credit, so I paid $50 for unlimited

  4. I was I the Haven in both the jewel class and away class ships. In my opinion there is no comparison. The Haven on the away class is so much better, I was on the Gem and really

Didn't like the courtyard, thought it was so small and only had the one pool and one hot tub. I was on the Breakaway in the summer when school was out and loved the courtyard. It had two waiting pools with lounge chairs that keep you cool when you sit in them. Also one pool, though not big it's ok. It also has two hot tubs. Didn't have a problem with children as there weren't not that many in courtyard. I also lived the Haven restaurant on Breakaway. Food was fantastic and service was top notch. Also the Haven lounge was good and the concierge has a desk there to. You don't have to look for concierge as you do on jewel class ships. On the Breakaway the Haven in a ship with in a ship.

  5. I just got off Gem on Saturday and had the WiFi. It's spotty, but it does work pretty good. I did a FaceTime call and had no problems. Checked Facebook everyday along with my mail. One warning if you don't get the ultimate plane, then you should turn it off after you use it or your minutes will run out real fast.

  6. We just got back from cruise on the Gem and we went to the Orlando Eye complex. The bus ride is one hour. You get three attractions there for $99. The Eye is good. It goes as high as 400. And you can see a lot from up there. In same building is an aquarium that's small and a lot of fun for kids. Then there is the wax museum which is good. There are a number of places to eat and get gifts there. The bus leaves at 6:30 we hit a little traffic and got back at 7:45. On board at 8:00.

I would not go to Disney land as there is not enough time to do a lot. A few years ago we went to universal park and got the express pass and saw all the main attractions. Now NCL only sells transportation to parks. So if you miss the bus you miss the ship.

  7. Just came back from my cruise on the Gem. We had a small cabana and paid $382 on line, if booked on board it was $425. The cabana is well worth it, especially if you can't stay out in the sun to long. That price is for 6 people and included a $50 food credit. We got the shrimp and lobster player for it. The lobster tails were bigger than I thought it would be. You also get chips and salsa and a fruits platter. They have cabana guys come around, one gets you drinks the other gets good from the BBQ. You get 4 floats and it has a shower. Also comes with bottled water. The beach is in front of the cabanas. It's a little walk to beach. But it seems like a private beach. If there was 50 people on it that was a lot. The cabanas are about a 10 minute walk from where you get on island. Note: if you can't make walk(especially on the way back to boat) you ask for a ride back and they will come with a jeep to take you back.

Well worth the price, go for it.

  8. I've been in the Haven on the Gem and Breakaway. There's no comparison. The Breakaway hands down. You have the courtyard that has two hot tubs, a small pool and two water pool with lounge chairs in them. You also have lounge chairs and by pool some have covers on them to shade you from the sun. You can also eat breakfast and lunch by the pool. Upstairs is a sun deck with lounge chairs. Also you have the Haven lounge and bar. And the Haven restaurant. The good is excellent, but it's the same menu every day. Also the concierge desk is there so you always know where they are in case you need something. On the Gem the courtyard is very small with one pool and one hot tub.

  9. We had the aft facing Penthouse on the Breakaway and found it to be wonderful. First the suit itself is bigger. It has separate main bedroom with own bathroom. Living room and dining area and small bathroom with shower. The balcony is huge. Nothing like having breakfast on balcony in morning. The walk is far but you get use to it. and it never hurts to walk off all that food you will be eating. My advice is if you want a bigger room and balcony go with aft penthouse.

  10. The H9 Haven spa has access to the Mandara spa. The balcony is 54sq st, the H7 forward facing penthouse balcony is small, 32sq feet. Both have access to Haven restaurant, courtyard, concierge and butler. The G7 is a larger suite with living room and dining area and separate bedroom.

  11. OP said she is deciding to get a suite on NCL or RCC. So price doesn't seem to be the problem, if your considering NCL, I would choose on the newer ships. I have been in suites on both lines. Rooms vary on each ship depending on what class room you get. But if your more interested in the service and experience, NCL runs hands down. One big difference is Haven courtyard, no crowds, easy to get lounges and pool and hot tubs are usually empty. Of course pool is really small but you can cool off in it. The Haven restaurant is fantastic. Service and good is superior then RCC. Concierge and butlers in my option were much better on NCL. NCL Haven is like a ship within a ship. It is quite and subdued then being at main pool area. The lounge on NCL is open all day, while the lounge on RCC is only open a few hours, but drinks are free in RCC lounge. But being in Haven you get UBP do drinks are free all over the ship.

  12. If you can afford it I would go Haven. Just to tell you the Haven pool area and sun deck are quite. If you like bring in all the noise and the crowded deck by pool then don't go it. The Haven pool isn't big but you can cool off. The sun deck, no problem getting padded lounger. And if it rains they close top and you can still swim or cool off in pool. The Haven restaurant is fantastic. The food is the best on the ship. Only thing is the menu doesn't change. You do get to get on and off ship first. You get goodies delivered to your room every day around 4pm by your butler. You can have breakfast in you room served by your butler. Just ask him or her and they will bring you anything you want, even from specialty restaurants if you have the UDP. But remember once you go Haven you will never go back to regular rooms again. They spoil you.

  13. We gave gone on a lot of cruises and my wife & I gamble lot. She plays the slots and I play the tables. Believe it or not I usually win, and I mean up to $8000 a cruise. My wife though loses a lot on the slots. She gets every year invite for a free cruise and I have never received any. So I think they give these to people who Lose and not to people that win. That's just my option.

  14. I always book threw a TA for the same reason. If there's a problem or question the TA will do all the calling for you. I also save a few dollars booking with TA then on line. Also my TA always gives us OBC. This year I booked a Haven suite and got $400 OBC from TA and $600 from NCL. Can't beat that.

  15. I always park at the pier in NY. Can't beat the convenience. Drive up to pier, pay, unload luggage near elevator, then park car. Go down to street level give luggage to porter then go to check in. After cruise go up to roof with luggage and leave. This year we are on Gem. We have coupon for 25% off. So for $210 for 7 days, can't beat that. We live in Long Island, so it takes from getting off boat to home around 1 hour. Can't beat that.

  16. I have been playing BJ for a long time and I play to win. If I see players doing stupid things, not necessarily the wrong thing, I get up and leave the table. It kills me to see players split tens or picture cards. You never split a winning hand.

As for the payout of BJ is 3:2 on real tables. On ships at the $6 table it's 6:5. I've never seen 2:1 odds. And I don't see what all the fuss is about the odds of BJ. How many BJ's do you get in a shoe. I could go two or theee shoes and not get BJ. You make money by doubling when you can and splitting at the right time. And that's why I don't sit at a $6 table. People are there to have fun, I play to win.
