  1. I have always been able to select my seats (American &Delta) as soon as I booked my tickets. I always book flexible fares. I can see my seats on the airline’s app as soon as I book.
  2. Happy Friday! Thank you to all who make the F & D a special place. Since I am currently sitting on the deck looking at the ocean I thought I’d provide a PSA about sharks. How can you tell if there are sharks in the water? Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
  3. The shrimp is on the menu at Nami ($15) and Tamarind. I had it in February on the Rotterdam. It was delicious but I like spicy. You will receive a Mariner discount at Tamarind. You can see all the menus on the Navigator app.
  4. We stayed at Stanley Cay Yacht Club, boat was included with the villa. My DH didn’t understand why I wanted to go there until we met the pigs. Great day!
  5. Thank you to all who post on the F & D. I am looking forward to the pictures of Chacabuco as I will be there in February. I carry reusable bags for my purchases. Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
  6. Thank you to all who post on the F & D. I’d like to suggest a way to celebrate Bowdler’s Day. Did you know that several of Dahl’s popular children’s books such as Charlie & the Chocolate Factory have recently been bowdlerized? “…language relating to gender, race, weight, mental health and violence had been cut or rewritten. This included removing words such as “fat” and “ugly,” as well as descriptions using the colors black and white.” https://www.cnn.com/style/article/roald-dahl-censored-gbr-scli-intl/index.html @kazu Cupping was recommended for my DH by his acupuncturist. It worked for him, I hope it works for you. @ottahand7Love all your flower pictures, particularly the Monarch caterpillars. I have plenty of milkweed growing in my wildflower garden for them too. @dfish My grandmother taught me to make cucumber salad too. Place cucumbers in jar. Mix up pickling brine, twice as much sugar as vinegar. Add to jar. Sometimes I add onions or fresh dill. Great easy salad for a summer picnic. Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
  7. @Haljo1935Here is a screenshot from my iPhone of one of my flexible flight bookings. If you click on change flights, it does not cancel your booked flights, it just shows other available flights and their cost. Then you have the option to change or not change.
  8. Thank you to all who make the F & D possible. I look forward to the photos of San Antonio. We will disembark there on our February cruise. Currently, I have a flight home at midnight the same day. Could your pictures encourage me to extend our visit?🤔 A bit of more of Kline’s speech provides context for the quote. From his speech at convention of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America held in Baltimore, in 1918. My friends, after this war, there will be a great unemployment problem. The munition plants will be closed and useless, and millions of munitions workers will be thrown out upon the market. And then the time will come to show whether you strikers and you workers believe one hundred per cent for organized labor or only 35 per cent. And my friends, in this story you have a history of this entire movement. First they ignore you. Then they ridicule you. And then they attack you and want to burn you. And then they build monuments to you. And that is what is going to happen to the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. BTW, this quote is frequently misattribute to Gandhi. Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
  9. I have not had any problems although sometimes the actual site is glitchy. If so, I try the next day. I like FE for one way flights to Europe. I also like the fact that I don’t have to pay for them until 90 days before the cruise. I like that I can keep checking flights after I booked to see if prices have decreased. I have used FE on American and Delta. I can see the flights and seats I selected from the moment I book on FE on the airline apps
  10. Looks like she’s coming in while the sea planes are going out
  11. I will not receive a paper copy of your account. You do not need to go to guest services unless you want a paper copy of your account. As @Cruise Suzystated taking a picture of your acct on the TV solved that problem.
  12. I give additional cash tips based on level of service to the following staff at the end of the cruise. We have fixed seating MDR, I tip my waiter and assistant. I tip my cabin stewards. I also give cash tips to the servers in the bars I commonly frequent occasionally throughout the cruise.
  13. I use the app to contact guest services daily. I like to compliment crew who provide me with great service. I have also used it to get problems resolved with out going to guest services. I have got my bill corrected and new batteries for my tv remote without calling or standing in line. I also like to use it to order from the Dive In and NY Deli & Pizza. However, as others have stated, it is not required. My DH still has a flip phone🤣
  14. Thank you to all who post on the F & D. I just read a great article about Navratilova: Bitter rivals, Beloved friends, Survivors Here’s an excerpt: At the ages of 68 and 66, respectively, Evert and Navratilova have found themselves more intertwined than ever, by an unwelcome factor. You want to meet an opponent who draws you nearer in mutual understanding? Try having cancer at the same time. Positive thoughts to all who need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
  15. You always have to pay for CO as soon as you book it.
  16. I have read that the average temperature when visiting Antarctica in February is 34 degrees F and that there is often a strong wind; to me that is cold. I want to be prepared. I’d appreciate any replies from cruisers who have been there as to what to pack to be prepared for the weather.
  17. We are excited about our SA & Antarctica cruise in 2024. We always travel with just a carry on. My husband insists that we take a duffel with cold weather gear. I do think it will be challenging to pack with 90 degrees in Buenos Aires and freezing temperatures as we approach Antartica. I want to be comfortable on our tours and able to be on deck during scenic cruising. How do you suggest we pack with regards to the weather. @Mary229DH always wears a collared shirt and khakis to the MDR. On dressy nights, he wears black pants, long sleeved shirt and tie. I wear a black skirt or pants and a variety of tops. Never felt under dressed or out of place, even when cruising with Europeans who tend to dress up.
  18. What a beautiful morning. Thankfully, I don’t see any ambulances.
  19. Fried chicken is my DHs favorite but I don’t fry food. His favorite is from Royal Farm Store, recognized by Food & Wine magazine as one of the 10 gas stations foods in the country that deserve a detour. I suggest you order a chicken box, another Baltimore tradition. Positive thoughts to those who need the. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
  20. I use a PCC; she knows we prefer aft cabins. An aft cabin was unavailable on the last cruise we booked. We booked an alternate cabin and put us on a waitlist. When an aft cabin became available, we received an email from HAL stating an aft cabin was available and to call if we needed wanted to change cabins.
  21. You are not allowed to double book on Southwest: Prohibition of Multiple/Conflicting Reservations: To promote seat availability for our Customers, Southwest prohibits multiple reservations for the same Passenger departing from the same city on the same date, or any multiple reservations containing conflicting or overlapping itineraries (such as departures for the same Customer from multiple cities at the same time). Furthermore, without advance notice to the Passenger or purchaser, Southwest may cancel such reservations, or any other reservations that it believes, in its sole discretion, were made without intent to travel
