  1. Queens Grill Restaurant

Guests staying in our Queens Grill Suites have a table reserved in the world-renowned Queens Grill restaurant. You'll always be greeted warmly by name, and appreciate the ultimate interpretation of White Star Service during breakfast, lunch and dinner, served when you wish between 6.30pm and 9pm.

    Princess Grill Restaurant

Our sophisticated, intimate Princess Grill restaurant serves up unerringly excellent cuisine for breakfast and lunch, and for dinner whenever it suits you between 6.30pm and 9pm each evening. To match your choice, our sommelier will gladly talk through the impressive wine list.

    Britannia Club Restaurant

The Britannia Club Restaurant boasts the same grandeur as the neighbouring Britannia Restaurant, but with an intimate dining club atmosphere. Dine in the evening here whenever it suits you between 6.30pm and 9pm.

We will refer to the dining room section of a recent program and post that information.....

Since we will be experiencing this class on a upcoming voyage unless upgraded, we too would like to understand this dining room experience as we did in the past....

  2. From past experience we have found some questionable coloring at times especially when they are switching from city water to on board water supply or working on the system. This mostly occurs with the hot water service.

Chlorine can be detected thru their processing of the On Board Cold Water.

Since some people do question that taste, we have seen people purchase bottled water. For this reason we do have bottle water delivered to our cabin and also for dining room use at our table.

We once had a bad experience at tea time on the QE2 where the water they used at Tea Time in the Lido Area influenced the taste of the Tea.

  3. Thank you for all the responses but going by printed word.

If you refer to the Website site....Grills are Breakfasts Lunches and Dinners at the same table and same servers.. I agree with past experiences, they do become accustom to your preferences after your first meal..

But the specific wording on the website is clearly stated.

I will be checking with a couple that came off the ship 2 weeks ago. Ask for photo of the back of one of the programs during a Sea Day.

Our understanding from the past experience that the menu is of Grill Light selections to encourage future booking a Grill Class.

  4. "Britannia Club Restaurant.

Dine in your own restaurant, with the freedom to choose when you dine each evening. The Britannia Club Restaurant is part of the lavish Britannia Restaurant which is reminiscent of grand Cunarders of the past."

Unfortunately the assigned table is for only Evening Meals and not included for Breakfast and Lunch according to the Cunard Dining Room Website.

Yes, you can vary your arrival anytime during the evening for dining.

Other meals (Breakfast & Lunches) at your choice of either Britannia Main Dining Room, Kings Court, Pub etc.....

  5. I think the general rule is if you want to please yourself when you eat, have a table for 2.

We have traveled many times in the past and always requested a table for 2 and enjoyed the privacy. Also you can come and go at the leisure.

But we still have met and still keep in contact with many passengers which are now friends.

We too have heard stories of tables of 6, 8 that companionship just didn't workout and did alter the experience of the trip.

It is really your personal choice..You can still meet people on the side at the Queens Room, Showtime, Meet on Tours or leisurely time in a Lounge for a Cocktail...

  6. We had friends that came off the Christmas New Year Cruise in 16 and they have stayed in the Past at the Ritz Carlton on West Street.

They had to just take a Car Service or Taxi thru the Battery Tunnel to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to the other side of the harbor.

They have been satisfied the two times they have stayed there.

There is also Marriott Financial just down the street from Ritz.

Of course there are some hotels in Downtown Brooklyn now.

  7. In all 25 voyages we have taken during our cruising experiences, on 3 times did we experience feeling.

My wife believes in the Bands and twice and separate trips did I use the pills and they worked perfectly find.

Pills caused sleepiness. Once in the afternoon and once at bedtime.

  8. We have many cruise days (900) on Holland America but this coming cruise to Australia will be our first on Cunard. My husband uses a manual and also a power chair and we would be interested to hear from any other passengers with similar mobility issues about their experiences on the QE and QV. For example, the accessibility of the common areas, accessible restrooms in the common areas, ramps, access to spa or workout areas, etc. Thanks very much! We are looking forward to our cruise to Australia and our stay in Sydney. Cleta

    Welcome Cleta,

We too have had some experience with Holland and America but Cunard is our primary cruise line. Once the dining choices changed about 10 years ago we got turned off and returned to Cunard.

Not being limited, I can say Cunard ships are ADA access from our past experiences. We have not seen anyone in the past not able to get from one place to another but hope some with past experience can be more helpful to you.

We do take it that you will be sailing your voyage on the QM2...

Enjoy you voyage and experience with Cunard... We feel like it's our second home with the kindness and professionalism of the Staff and Services onboard.

  9. We have been on several difference ships including the Cunard ships and the layouts sometimes makes a difference of the layouts. If below the Outside Decks or the Lido Decks.

On the Mary we were in the Britannia Club Deck 12 Cabins and only in the early more heard a little from above when they placed the deck chairs out and really didn't bother us at all.

On another ship we were below the Lido and once below the area like the King's Court and again only once during the Morning Setup did we heard minor noise.

Yes, Pantries can be busy but twice didn't bother us. Actually it helped us as they were there anytime we needed them.

  10. Could Be Wasting Time Before Heading Back To NY....

There are other shipping around on Vessel Finder. Cargo Carriers, Tankers, Small Craft and A Celebrity Passenger...

Estimate two hour future track shows more of a western turn...

    Could be nothing....

  11. Hattie and to all the Fellow CC's

Wishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year - 2017.....

Hope All Your Cruise Dreams Come True in 17......

Experience New Locations and New Ships and Make New Friends..

    Bev & Ed....

  12. Hi

Halifax is very historical especially related to the Cunard Name.

Also contains history related locations connected to the Titanic especially the burial site of a number of the passengers and officers of the vessel.

The Maritime Museum also is very interesting on Shipping and Also Titanic Exhibit.

Great view from the Citadel atop of the city...

They also have a great walk alone the Seawall. Interesting shops for shopping.

We also experienced some good meals at the restaurants close to the seawall.

  13. Hi

Has anyone yet tried the new A2 rooms on deck 13 , and what do you think of them. We are thinking of booking one in the near future. Thanks.

My wife and I are expecting to use the Britannia Club Class in July and were looking at those new additions.

Though we may get an upgrade to P1 or P2, we still were looking what these new additions to the super structure of the ship looked like.

We remember when that area was the original Sport Deck at the extreme forward of Deck 13...

We do prefer middle ship locations for a stable ride. Once we were on Deck 11 mid forward and experienced an uneasy ride for two days.

Though they are suppose to be really nice being brand new we were going to question them if the Room Assignment were to come into conversation.

We too are researching the possibly use...

  14. Well can't wait to walk thru the Mary's Book Store with interest.

Theme Books on the Mary and Ocean travel.

Also Keep sakes to take home as Gifts to those at home.

I always look at the latest releases to see what I don't have.

Even puzzles for kids and pictures book to learn from.

    Hope not to be disappointed.....

  15. We reached our search area and QM2 has begun its search. The US Coast Guard is also assisting with the search. QM2 was joined by 2 US Coast guard C130 Aircraft. Capt. Oprey has asked people to assist with the search from deck. Roland787

So proud of all the those participating (crew & passengers) in the search and rescue of the missing passenger on the Queen. As a retired Emergency Service Member, I would have volunteered my assistance to help search the ship too. The passenger may have also experienced a medical condition and lost their way and still onboard.

Special thanks also to the US Coast Guard and all their technology to search the waters.

Still praying for a miracle outcome it possible.

  16. A bit of a somber morning here aboard QM2. Captain Oprey made an announcement that we are "dealing with a serious missing person situation on board." Many calls were made early in the on the public address system asking for a lady to make a phone call immediately. I noticed that we had made a 180 degree turn and were picking up speed according to the voyage tracker on the TV. Oprey said we will retrace our course and begin a search. The US Coast Guard has been notified and may provide assistance. We're currently doing 25.4 knots.

Prayers for the missing lady. Roland764

    Prayers For Missing Person....

We have a couple onboard celebrating the Holiday Cruise and was looking forward to a happy voyage.

I too am watching the Marine Traffic with Satellite Coverage and noticed this strange event.

Thought it was maybe a Call To Rescue in the Water the Queen is always offering assistance to.

Will be keeping an eye this event and hope for the best outcome.

    Best Wishes to all Onboard....

  17. Celebrating Life Today!

Today is My Father's Second Year Celebrating Veteran's Day in Heaven.

We Miss Him very much and Hope to one day rejoin him in Heaven.

He was a very dedicated cruiser on many ships and many lines.

So happy many ships in the past had Reunions of Veteran's on a cruises to have veterans over a drink or cordials to rehash their experiences.

Being a Veteran was a special honor he enjoyed.

Happy Veteran's Day to all still with us and also to those that have departed from this life..

  18. Dear David,

Thank you for your review on the Latest Britannia Club setup...

We are booked in Britannia Club next year for the second time and our first experience was in the original Club Dining Room. It was so good that our future booking will be BC....

We are on Guar. so not sure if we will be in A2, A1 or Upgrade Fairy will visit.

Deck 13 does look interesting especially the newly construction off the ship.

We did very appreciate the set table assignment and the open personal choice time to dine.

    Can't wait till next year.....

  19. Hi everyone,

Sadly I have to fly back to UK on 22nd December (late evening)

Any ideas on itinerary for a day in New York and where to store luggage?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Usually those departing the ship have arrangements personally or thru Cunard to the local homes, hotels/lodging or to airports for flights.

I do not remember anyone separating from the ship take arranged tours thru line of the city nor allowed to leave luggage aside in the pier for personal tours or shopping.

I think you need to investigate different ideas of spending time around the city before departing for the airport.

Wish you good luck and find time to see this wonderful city...

  20. Yes, I suggested that everyone make there way up to the Library on the QM2 to add their remarks and greetings to all.

It's like leaving part of your experience on this Historical Vessel.

We do make our experience remarks and comments of the voyage we were on.

Also those Roll Call Leader are encouraged to borrow the book and bring it to the Roll Call and invite those gathered to sign the book.

Of course to make it available to all, return it the Librarian in the Library.

They store it in file cabinet.

Looking forward to enter into it on next years cruise...

  21. Allison,

Cunard has always had a dedicated following of repeat passengers that look for the unique sailing experience - Dress Code.

They are quite strict in asking all to follow the dress code that is set that starts at 6PM.

Yes their are challenges at the door of the restaurant but not by tableside.

But to keep the experience, seeing the restaurant abiding to the code really sets the tone.

On those evenings that Tuxedos or Dark Suits are announced, you will see those if at not wearing their jackets stands out like a sore thumb. Same as would be noticed on Informal evenings.

I do have to state that the ship does a good job keeping the temperature uniform. Even the woman will find at times to bring a crawl with them to the Dining and even Royal Court Theater.

If there is a problem following the dress code, their are other dining choices on the ship...

We personally have sailed on the Queens for the last 30 years and look forward to Dressing on evenings.....

  22. Never had a problem and saw Brooklyn to be the best location to board from the sidewalk to the Grand Lobby... We are Diamond Level last several cruises.

Luggage out of the car to the handler instantly by the sidewalk..

Directed into the lobby with tickets and passport escorted to security.

Once thru security headed for Diamond Level Line (no one practically there) right to Cunard Rep.

Once thru the Check In right on the ship. If there is a delay or too early, the Priority Lounge for waiting instead with the masses. TV's and even a courtesy bar of soft drinks, water, coffee and Danish.

We are blessed we are now at that level and Brooklyn has such great service.

  23. Think leaving Manhatten at 1545 would be far too late and risk, if they get a taxi, being stuck in traffic.

Cunard Bus Transfers are always safe. Even the cruise company tour brochures assure you that the ship always waits till all transfers and tour buses arrive back to the ship. Not too wise to go independent for short periods of time except venturing close to the terminal in the Brooklyn Height area.

Your relations not being familiar with the city and it's delays needs to be aware of the pitfalls New Yorkers are accustom too.

You should leave at least 1 hour grace period to the time the ship informs you need to be back to the pier. And this also depends on your location in Manhattan you will be returning from.
