  1. Can someone already booked in the last week get the new promo applied?

You should be able to. Some people in our group booked before us and we booked when the sale started. Our TA called and they applied it to the other bookings as well.

  2. I'm really interested in this thread. My DW and I are going on 3 cruises next year and they all will include the Classic package. I'm wondering if I'll be able to pay the 'difference' to upgrade to the Premium package to get the scotch I prefer.

I upgraded at the port last year, before we even boarded the ship. And it was only one package I upgraded.

  3. Has anyone heard of any successes of being able to upgrade only one classic to premium from the 1,2,3 offer?

Answering my own question here, though it may have already been answered. My wife and I took advantage of the 1,2,3 offer and got 2 classic packages on our Summit cruise on March 23. After we checked in, we went right to the drinks packages table in the terminal and I upgraded ONLY mine to premium. There were no questions asked. It was charged to our account and taken off of our onboard credit. That's exactly why I waited to board to do it. We had over $150 in OBC and I didn't want to pay out of pocket for the upgrade. They were only happy to do it.

  4. Hello, I've read through this and found the answer to part of my question about upgrading, but perhaps someone can help clarify. I have the Classic Alcohol and my wife has the Premium. She likes martinis and wine and the drinks from the molecular bar might appeal to her. I drink most stuff from the Classic, but I'm now realizing I may want to upgrade. I don't want to cancel and reorder because I got them during the sale. If I upgrade onboard would I just have to pay the difference or would it cancel and re-book at the non-discounted price? If that's the case, I'll stick with the Classic and the few times I want something from Premium, I'll switch with my wife. Also, do they give you a new card or just a sticker?

    Thanks,

    Freddie

  5. but does Princess allow smoking in the lounges?

As of summer '10, smoking was allowed in a small section of Skywalker's and there is a sports bar/cigar lounge. I know they did away with it in Fusion and I think the Wheelhouse bar as well. Casino had 2 smoke free nights on a 9 day sailing.

  6. Just won Marriott San Juan Resort for next January

    Priceline-zone 8

    Started at $90

added 4star and went to $105 and won.

    January 24' date=' 2013

    3 nights @ $105

$315 plus $47.40 taxes and fees for a total of $362.40

Looks nice, we have stayed at the Intercontinental our last 2 visits and really enjoyed our stay. Hoping for the same here. any thoughts?[/quote']

Is that the Marriott Stellaris? If so, it's awesome!! We stayed pre cruise last April. One night only, but we landed late. Showed up after midnight to a great salsa band, dancing, and drinks!! It is a beautiful place with a great pool and right on the beach!! Starbucks across the street if you like overrated and even more overpriced coffee :)

CVS 1/2 block away for toiletries. Only about 10 minutes to the port. Enjoy!!

  7. My husband and I love to ballroom dance and have only cruised on M class ships because we're hesitant to try something else. We've been happy with the dancing in the Rendevous Lounge and sometimes in the nightclub (although the floors are dangerous because of the separate panels that catch your shoes).

We did a B2B on the Millenium in Nov/Dec and dancing was good for the most part. Unfortunately, they'd moved the ballroom dance band to the nightclub so we had to dance to the party band, which could play ballroom well enough especially after they saw people would dance when they played ballroom music. We did go to the nightclub a couple of nights but had to be careful not to do steps that moved too quickly across the floor so we didn't trip.

We're on the Infinity in April and are hoping that the floor in the nightclub was replaced during the solsticizing! We're glad they've kept the Rendevous Lounge - while the floor isn't too big, I think it would be better than dancing at the foot of the stairs in the Grand Foyer in the S class ships.

We appreciate the no smoking policy on Celebrity but may try Princess in the future because we've heard the dancing opportunites are better.

    Enjoy your cruise!

From what I've heard, Princess is implementing a smoking policy that is similar to Celebrity. As far as indoor lounges, I think Princess allows it in none, while Celebrity did allow it in one on the Summit. Not sure about other ships.

  8. Thank you, NC. I was curious about ordering wine by the glass in the dining room and having the sommelier or waiter giving you a hard time about ordering more than one glass. Did anybody else who purchased the beverage package experience any attitude from the dining room staff when requesting two or more glasses of wine?

When we were on the Summit last year, if we ordered wine, the bottle was left near the table at the waiter's station or on ice. When the glass was low or empty, it was cheerfully refilled. No problems whatsoever. Same with poolside service or in lounges. They would occasionally come around and see if another drink was needed. The convenience, even before the $$ factor, made the package worth it. We definitely came out ahead by getting the package!

  9. Hi we are considering the classi package for our caribbean cruise on eclipse in Feb 2013 . Doe this offer enough choice. We usually just drink beer, G & T, wine with dinner and Mojito. Would the classic packge cover this

    Thanks

Yes it will. Beers will be $5.00 and under brands. Not sure, but in the mixed drinks mentioned, liquor used is probably not top shelf, but also not budget brands. We found the wine selection to be more than adequate, but we aren't wine experts. Some of our friends were not impressed with the wine selection.

  10. Just got off the Summit today and will do a longer review, but we had a fantastic cruise! I have to say that it is going to be VERY hard to sail another line after trying the drink package (classic). It was such a peace of mind option. I definitely got my money's worth, despite not feeling 100% and not having as many adult beverages as I usually do. But plenty of soda, water on and for off the ship, coffee, etc. I LOVED the ease of it. It will be a deciding factor for future cruises.

  11. I've asked this question before and unfortunately have not been able to get an answer. Does anyone know how quickly after finishing your drink you can order another? I'm asking for the specific purpose of chasing my shot of Patron with a nice cold beer (a vacation favorite :D)

Good question. I would say if you walk away and return a minute later, it should be no problem. A shot and a beer chaser is very common and you just might be lucky enough to find a bartender who won't be so strict. But if you do the shot, your drink is now finished, so you should be able to get another drink right away.

  12. Just returned from 2 weeks with a Premium Package which we bought in advance:

    1. Saved about what we expected (about $5.00 a day each) but drank less booze and more Cova Cafe coffee

    2. Loved not signing and the 3 bar waiters we used most regularly had our numbers and names and didn't ask for cards after 3 days, even when they were working in other bars.

    3. No problem getting room drinks - 1 person 2 cards to the bar, alternating who's turn it was to make the trek.

    4. In the MDR, wine glasses were never empty with no advanced tip to the sommelier.

    5. Only 1 waiter became noticeable less pursuant of our business after being given the card, probably because the tips are from a card pool and are less to the waiter.

    6. Couldn't get doubles from a strange waiter, although I am pretty sure we could of from our regular waiters, we just didn't try.

    7. One waiter didn't know what the card code meant and had to check.

    8. They had a carafe of wine my DW was drinking at a discount to a price within the package. Although she could by the wine by the glass, she couldn't by the carafe, even though she could buy 2 successive glasses of wine that total in cost more than the carafe. In the end, the result was a higher charge although zero balance to the package than if she had been allowed the carafe Must be either a weird accounting or maybe marketing rule.

    9. Only real thing that could be better, is the ability to get your butler or room service to get your drinks on the card....but nothings ever perfect.

When all is said & done we will get the package again next time we are on X

What was the experience if you ordered a beer or two? Would they open them? I like to have a fridge full of beer, but I'm not paying extra for buckets if I bought a package. I figured I'd bring a couple back each time I head back to the room.
