1. I may be leaving celebrity for another line soon they hold their singles during our captains club socials singles should have a activity to do on board the ship together more like an icebreaker in a separate small activity room to get to know each other. celebrity just has the singles meet at the bar with all the regular passengers you don't know who single one who's married makes for a very awkward situation

  2. I like cruises too I am single and going with my girlfriend on celebrity equinox October 15 2015 Greek Isles and turkey flying in to Barcelona staying over after the cruise from Barcelona there's still room who is game to Go?

  3. Captain: Athanasios Peppas, Interacting well with passengers and visible for us to be able to speak with him.

Chief Engineer: Konstantinos Bakas Always visible on the ship

Staff Captain: Kyriakos Matragka very nice man

Guest relations: Migle Zukaite A super staff!

Hotel Director: Bosco Pires- lots of laughts!

Cruise Directo: Josh Riffe- very funny, and does entertaining videos each day.

    F & B: Vlado Momiroski

Exec Chef: Thomas Stellbrink, goes by Chef Thomas, pronounced Toe Mass.

Captains Club hostesses: Elaine and Alexandria. While on the cruise, Alexandria got off in St. Thomas, and flew to wherever the Infinity currently is, to orient herself for South America sails coming up in two weeks.

*** The Captain is really fun, yet very safety conscious, he rescued 12 people last cruise on a raft, and this cruise brought us in again to St. Thomas on an unexpected stop in the middle of the night to have a passenger transferred to the Hospital for a life threatening illness. Now that is just total CLASS! Just love this Captain!

  4. Amen to that, sister!!

tikigirl, I have a male friend who's Pinnacle with RCCL (recently widowed, but married and solo when I met him on the SS Norway many years ago), who tells me Celebrity's food and atmosphere is a cut above, but it's too staid for him, so he prefers Royal.

I suggest Royal because I think your Celebrity loyalty points transfer. Try one of the smaller ships in the Radiance or Vision class, not the newer behemoths. They're more like small cities and people tend to keep to themselves.

For me, smaller ships have a friendlier vibe and draw some single straight men in their 50s and 60s. Whether they turn out to be jerks or not is entirely your call! :D

I'm trying Norwegian Getaway next month just to see if NCL really is attracting a lot of singles and doing good things to help us meet each other. I've read on other boards that there are quite a few 50+ singles, too.

So, looking at Royal Caribbean, have you noticed the prices have all been jacked up about 40% or is it just me. Also X seems to have also raised their prices considerably. Maybe if I cancel one of my European back to backs and take the deposit to RCCL, I could find something, got any suggestions? I live in Florida.:)

  5. Richard:

I cruise a lot, and very seldom find single straight guys. Although I am a Celebrity girl, I am thinking of switching lines. There must be men out there somewhere who love cruising as much as I do.

A lot of people were dancing on the Celebrity Century, but they were all couples, and it just seemed a bit awkward for me.

Although the staff was nice enough to my mom and I, the singles bar was hidden away on the ship, and not an event for singles until 11:00 at night, after everyone had gone to bed. There were some men there avoiding going back to their rooms, but they were married. So there must be some other solution the ships can come up with for singles on board to meet in the 60's.

Maybe we can brainstorm a few on this site!;)

  6. :D

Ask me to dance, and I will! I love to dance.

I am newly widowed and most certainly not looking for any romantic encounters. That item sailed with the Love Boat, but I would love a dance with a nice fellow who won't step on my toes. :)

What is the difference between single and widowed and Divorced? Aren't we all in the same category as Single, really? And I am not quite sure that shipboard romances sailed with the love boat. I have met so many people in the last three years that have met on ships and are now married all in their 60's.

  7. I emailed every ship in the water right now on cruise critic with Celebrity asking for info, and to post it to this website.

I got all the ships including the expedition, which is who knows where right now.

    I'm done

Hope to see the chart when it's finished.

    Love and hugs to all!

  8. ......And they charge dearly for those health certificates. We got one, thinking our Dog was going on a cruise, then backed out when it got sticky in one of south American areas, and I was worried that they would take my dog off the ship.

What about these transatlantic trips to Rome, but they stop in a British port,. I know you can't take your dog off, because the rules are 3 days away from U.S. territories only allowed in to UK. (which leaves only flying as the means of transit from the US- for dog shows I suppose). They forgot all about cruise ships, didn't they???

Well now, how do you get to England with a dog on a ship? That is the question of the day? Or if the ship continues on to another port, but stops in a British Island, does that make a dog quarantined if it doesn't get off the ship there?

It seems rules change by who's in charge at the dock. Some say yes, some say no. The whole thing is confusing me, I am not taking Lucy to Alaska as previously planned, or should I? It goes to Victoria too out of SFO.

  9. On a normal flight, 2 animals are allowed in each cabin that are NOT service dogs. Service dogs are exempt from that , in that they are not part of the count. Please when booking your flight on line ( to save money), you must then call the airline back, ask for special services, and let them know there are two service dogs traveling with you. Is one for each person?

I have never heard of 2 dogs for one person, but never say never.

My service dog logged 61,000 miles last year and was an angel. It is very obvious the personality and disposition of a service dog, versus a pet, so please for those of you thinking of taking them on board as impostures, you need to provide paperwork on them, service dog cards or other id, vests, etc. and if it is for philological reasons, you must have a letter from the psychologist.:)

  10.
What makes you think they are going cheap? Seems like having someone serve the breakfast is a lot more upscale than a buffet. Did they do away with the salmon locks or the champagne or the bloody Mary's?
Well, I must have misread a post, that there were no drinks. I apologize,:) So tell you what, I'll see for myself in 4 weeks and report back. Celebrity has never, never disappointed me. :)
  11. I have not been on the hosted singles cruises but I heard that when they say "Over 40" that most of the participants are closer to 60. At 52 you are still young (very young to be widowed-sorry for your loss) so check it out! You likely will have fun. :)

I am a single woman, and cruise a lot. I see lots of single women, many just get "taken" early in the cruise. But that being said, a cruise for the 60 plus group might be a good thread to start. On Celebrity of course!:D

  12. :eek:I used to love the salmon locks for breakfast and my champagne and coffees with a zip or a bloody Mary. Did they take those freebees away? If so, why? That's half the reason I book the cruise.

I don't want anyone pre-plating anything for me. I like high end food, and expect that in an Elite Plus breakfast room. Call me a snob, ok, but Celebrity is supposed to be one step up, not down.

You start loosing the small things like this, and go cheap, you will start to loose all of us too. Celebrity needs to cater to the people who cruise a lot, not go cheap on them. What I am hearing is scary. I haven't cruised since last September, before the changes, and don't go again until this September on 4 more before the end of the year for 50 days of sailing. Please don't go cheap, Celebrity

  13. My grand kids would most certainly prefer Disney and I hope to be able to take them.

Maybe you remember me reddish hair traveling within and dad. I moved back from Seattle to FL just do I could cruise again.

I am worried after reading this forum that Xis slipping especially with the advertising of the quantum class ship luxuries. I always thought X Was

A step up. To be determined in Sept

  14. I still have beautiful clothes that were so unique from a company called "Cruise Wear". I don't know what happened to them, but I used to buy from them on board all the time. Excellent quality, and things didn't shrink.

It would be nice to find cute Capri pant sets, and some with zip waists and some with elastic wastes for the mid to elderly woman who want comfort.

I have noticed Celebrity catering to an expensive taste or younger set, though those are not the Clientele on board the ship. Sure we all have expensive tastes, but the prices are way to high on board for run of the mill items.

Design something that is cruise wear, unique to Celebrity, keep the cost reasonable, and as you know, you will sell it. I wish someone from X would read these boards or posts!

  15. First of all, I am a woman, and I want clothes

If I'm in the Caribbean I want Caribbean. I do not want to wear T-shirts.

Nice moderately priced, not overpriced gauze type, then some very feminine types of tops, with a cotton stretch or something comfortable and fun.

Also something with Celebrity logos but really for woman, not unisex. I go home and want a feminine jacket that I can" show off my X or Celebrity Cruises that is cute.

I did like the Pink Jacket I got for the Alaskan cruise with the stars on the inside of the jacket. I wear it all the time, and it is an eye catcher and lots of compliments.

Shoes.... yes, lots of sandals,. They are inexpensive for buy, and fun to wear, some with jewels, some with sequins. Fun things for women to wear.

Of course, every ship should be equipped with a Christmas Tree ornament cruise ships.

This Christmas I decorated my entire tree with cruise ships, and I started buying 1 ornament from each port I visited that said the name of the port on it, after a while you forget where the starfish came from, but you won't forget if the port is printed out of the ornament. Just a fun idea.

Some guys like to work on models, maybe cruise ship models to build yourself when you get home, that could be fun for some.

Cruise ship Celebrity puzzles would be fun. I have lots of ideas, they should hire me.! I'm available.!!

    :D

  16. Even though I made Elite Plus, I realize that at times there may be only a few of us on the ship. I wish the Elite plus and the Zenith's could get together in Michaels Club since there are only 16 Zenith's and 485 or so Elite Plus.

The odds of all of us showing up on one cruise would be quite low, and I rather like Michaels Club. In the old days, that's where we had CC social hour.

The friends I met there, are still my dear dear friends.:)
