  1. I was on a second b2b on the Regal Princess in November 2015. It was a reunion cruise for those of us who sailed the Regal inaugurals to the U.S. and to the Carib. Nov. 2014. I continue to enjoy the Princess cruise line and the new Regal. The few negatives some people view are outweighed by the positives. The larger piazza and all the entertainment and activities in that area are wonderful and are the heart of the ship. I love all the food choices at the Horizon. I do read reviews of the other cruise lines and find their cruisers to be very critical of what they perceive to be the negatives.

  2. If I choose to swap out my Elite mini bar set up for a bottle of wine, do I get to choose? If not, can anyone tell me what they have received in exchange. I would most likely swap for white or sparkling. Thanks!

I swap mine for coffee cards. You can also use them for gelato at IC.

  3. Thanks Chris for your awesome "live from the Regal ". I just finished reading the posts. I am glad you enjoyed the Regal cruises. We had a great group of cruisers sailing with us. Thank you for organizing and coordinating the activities. To the roll call members, thank you for all your posting and keeping our group excited and engaged. A special thank you to the Regal reunion group from the 2014 inaugural sailing. I am so glad we decided to sail together again. I will post more on our Nov. 8. roll call.

  4. Hi Chris !

I see you have started your journey for the cruises. I won't be able to follow your "live from the Regal Princess ". But I do have a great reason I will be on the Regal b2b cruises again this year !!!!! You always do such a excellent job. Safe travel to FLL. I will be flying out on Monday and anxious to see my cruising friends from last year and all the new friends I haven't met yet.

  5. Is there any fish on MDR breakfast menu...like lox/smoked salmon plate with capers?

What about lox at the buffet..?

I always have lox at HC. On the Coral Princess, it wasn't out but I asked for it and they had a plate ready in the kitchen. Then when a few people saw my plate they asked where I found it. If you don't see it ask for it.

  6. I do go to the afternoon teas on my Princess cruises. My favorite part is meeting all the cruisers. Years ago the first Princess tea we went to we had a couple from Scotland and one from England at our table. Always very diverse and interesting people to meet and chat again when you see each other on the cruise. After that first tea encounter I joyfully try to attend as many teas as possible.( except when it conflicts with my zumba classes ). Luckily I don't have to wait too long for my next Princess tea, since I will be doing a Regal b2b in the beginning of November.

  7. I enjoy having the old Loveboat shows on the tv while getting dressed. So many big stars were on that show and many young stars got their exposure on the show. I was on the Regal's b2b inaugural cruises last November and it was a thrill to see the original Loveboat cast.

  8. We just returned from a seven-day voyage to Alaska on the Crown Princess. My husband is elite, so we had the mini-bar setup awaiting us. However, we preferred to trade that in for the coffee cards. Our steward told us that as the setup was due to being elite status, we could not exchange it for coffee cards. Has anyone else run into this situation? Perhaps it was a "house rule" on just the Crown Princess? Maybe we should have called room service instead? (Previously, our steward has made these arrangements for us.)

Sorry you had this problem. I had always read on CC to call room service when you arrive at your room. I was on the Crown to Alaska May 29th. I called immediately to Room Service. When we returned to the cabin, the coffee cards were already there and I hadn't even met the room steward yet.

  9. Glad to hear about the Ruby. I miss her on the east coast. I enjoy the Regal very much and the Ruby( especially when Commodore Romano is sailing the ship) ranks right up there with the her.

  10. Tiffany18- Thank you for your wonderful review. I was on the Crown Princess May 30-June 6. We had amazing weather. Except for Glacier Bay, our weather was in the 70's and 80's and sunny. My first time there but would like to go back. I was wondering how Tracey Arm was like.

We stayed at the Sleep Inn by the airport too ,and found them to be wonderful. I would stay there again. Riding the Light rail was easy and well worth spending just 1/3 of what it costs in to stay in downtown Seattle in the summer. We used the Seattle Express ($12) to the Pier 91 and pickup to the airport after the cruise. Matt runs a great company. I did go to the Chuhuily Exhibit which was awesome. I did not want to wait on the long lines for the Needle. I did some research and read about a newer, taller building that is the tallest west of the Mississippi. From the monorail return trip you walk on Fifth Ave to Columbia to the Columbia Center . The 76 story building has an observatory(360 degree view) with big windows and no crowds. Unbelievable views in all directions , few people and all the room to get whatever pictures you want.

  11. We are sailing on the Crown on July 4. One quick question, if you don't mind. I found an old Patter for Alaska on line and it said that there was no self serve laundry. It got me thinking that maybe they don't allow it in the coastal waters? Can you tell me if there is self serve laundry? Thanks

    Karen

Karen- I was on the Crown May 30-June 6. I always do a laundry on the Princess ships and the Crown was no different. Not only do you have laundry machines, but 2 ironing boards and a tv. By the way it was a great trip. The naturalist lectures were great and helpful. We lucked out in the weather department. We had warm sunny days and only needed layers at Glacier Bay. But weather isn't predictable and I wanted to see Alaska and was prepared for if it rained a lot also. If you have binoculars bring them. The naturalist told us to look at the trees by the side(starboard) of the ship when docking in Juneau.( You are very close to the trees. Look for white golf balls in the trees. Except they aren't golf balls but are eagle heads. Sure enough when I used the binoculars , I saw 13 EAGLES. Then I got to see I few take off and fly away. At looked like a 7 foot wing span. Very exciting. In the Glacier Bay area, I kept on seeing with my binoculars what looked like a head and 2 feet sticking up in the water. I had an idea and it was confirmed when the naturalist said where to see the sea otter. I actually saw quite a few of them.

    Enjoy the cruise !!!

  12. Hoping someone can tell me the cost of the shuttle from The Ship to Victoria Hotel.

I can't speak for all the cruise lines but I am booked on ship shuttle the beginning of June. I will be on the Crown Princess and it costs $10 round trip.

  13. I was wondering if there is a big difference docking at King's Wharf vs Hamilton? I realize that different cruise lines have their favorite docks. Are there more things to see and do near one dock as compared to the other ? I realize that people take excursions, but using water taxi's and buses might be more abundant at one location compared to another. Thanks.

  14. We always enjoy the Pop Choir performance!

Hope they don't stop doing "Sweet Caroline"! :)

    LuLu

I did the Pop Choir on the Coral Princess going to the Panama Canal. Lots of fun. I also love doing 'Sweet Caroline" and the audience loves to chime in ! I will be on the Crown to Alaska the end of May but I have a feeling since it is so port intensive they might not have the pop choir.

  15. I would be asking this on the Princess board, as it is a Princess policy issue, which is typically the same fleetwide.

The only hang up here is any port issues. But once a ship is cleared, the disembarkation policy is followed. It is not a specified time so much, as the ship can never be absolutely sure when they will arrive, or when they will be cleared. You should, if need early disembarkation, simply request the earliest you are eligible for.

Most transport companies will stage in the area, and be available by cell phone. Do you have a flight schedule issue that you need a specific early time? If so, I would just plan according to that flight. That is, if you have a noon flight, you need to be off by 8:30 or 9am.

By the way, Seattle is covered extensively on the West Coast Departures board.

A few times when I have posted on the Princess board, they have moved my post telling me to check the area I am going to. Once I asked about Alaska and they quickly wrote moved to the Alaska board. Another time I had a food question and they moved that to the" foodie "board. So that is why I asked at the Pacific Northwest ports board.

  16. I will be returning from an Alaska Crown Princess cruise on Sat. June 6 , 2015. I am used to very early walk offs in Fort Lauderdale and a quick taxi ride to the airport. I know on the itinerary it lists a 7 am arrival. For those of you who have experienced this return from Alaska , I was wondering if you found that is when the ship arrives or is that when first walk offs leave. In FLL when they say report to the early departure lounge at 7 am, sometimes we start leaving at 7 ,7:30, and even 6:45 am. I am just not familiar if it is usually an on time departure or is it a delayed time. I am trying to decide what time I should ask for pick up. If it is called for 7 am , is it reasonable to ask for a 7:30 am departure ?

    Thanks.
