  1. Anyone know; Sailing a B2B  round trip out of San Francisco, will we need to get a Covid test in SF for second leg or will ship provide it?

For ship to sail into and dock Victoria do all passengers need test to Negative and upload and fill out ArtiveCAN app or just shore excursions?

    Thanks, Sandipalms

  2. Broberts & PSR,  I appreciate your taking your time to answer this.

    so if I’m understanding;

a negative Antigen test from Abbott BinaxNOW taken 1 day prior to cruise for border & cruise entry or a PCR test taken/results within 72 hours for border/ cruise entry, yes?
Reason for Antigen is that PCR results could take longer as Antigen is done via telemedicine with results usually within 15 minutes.

what if got both an Antigen and PCR to be sure to get into Canada, rather pay than be denied entry.

Thank you for providing HAL cruise ship as my quarantine Point.

Hopefully no break thru cases onboard.

Your assistance and time is greatly appreciated.

Maybe this topic should be moved to the top as the cruise season gets underway, there may be more questions.
If I make it thru this I will also help post and answer questions for other cruisers going.  Appreciate your patience.

    thanks again, Sandipalms

  3. I appreciate all of the information you are all providing.

leaving Seattle and taking HAL transfer same day to Vancouver,

    Clarification please;

We thought we read on Canada’s website an Antigen test was required 2 days prior, HAL also.

We are reading  posts saying 1 day prior, who trumps?
what Antigen test is accepted, is the Abbott or should we order from the Canada.ca website (?)

First time testing, appreciate all the help we can get.

    thanks, Sandipalms

  4. Love to cruise and have missed my multiple cruises this year.

Agree, cruise lines can ensure they get the right people who follow every protocol just to get certified.

We all know so many paying passengers on cruises that will never comply,  just saying....

We all know people  (kids, teens, young adults mostly) who are ill or may not be feeling well , getting or have a cold and board the ships anyway, the health (honor system)form is a joke—just my opinion.

I an very concerned about Grandparents traveling with Grandkids and sharing rooms, they are always hanging out with people their own age...( referencing mainly kids club thru 20+ yr olds.).

My opinion would to mandate at least a 2 day pre-cruise stay with COVID test upon accommodations arrival as well as embarkation, still won’t necessarily mean you are Negative when boarding.
    what about Asymptomatic people?

How does the cruise line distinguish a cough, know people who have a cough that could be considered a Covid cough.  Cough and loss of taste/smell have been first and only symptom for most people we know for several days, then the fever and other symptoms appear.
People could have symptoms and still hang out in public and try to get away without mask wearing, etc.(Dodgers player).
Where we live so many people will not comply with mask wearing, will carry mask into grocery store and never put on or hang down from ear or under nose, chin.  I do not see away for staff to enforce the code of conduct and as here, I am sure fights will breakout.  Not to be a downer, but I do not want the virus and would not want to unknowingly bring it on board or take it home.
Happy that the cruise lines will be taking great care of staff.

Good luck to all who try to sail again.. so that one day I may feel safe enough to cruise again too.

No flames please, just my opinion.

  5. No flames please, but how can muster happen?  We are already packed  in like sardines just getting to and from muster via the stairs, let alone “squeeze in everyone” for the drill itself. The corridors (Promenade deck in particular) are always packed especially after a show.  Vista lounge is usually standing room, especially for Comedians.  How many shows would the Theatre need to do as usually packed.

Idea; Meals; pre-order meals 30 days or so prior to sailing delivered to your cabin for consumption, then set dishes outside room for pickup.

No more sales tables outside of the shops & the $10.00 sales in the dining rooms.
cabin hallways are too narrow for distancing and call your neighbor to make sure you don’t go out the door at the same time.
Walking Promenade and distancing in certain areas aft & smoking section at times difficult to comply with distancing.

Again, no flames, but the only times I have been ill on a cruise was when a lot of kids onboard.  I know of kids/teens who were not well and still cruised, coughing, runny noses, not allergies.

Idea; Maybe they will make the cabins bigger & add a table/2 chairs, take out a wall in inside to balcony rooms to double the size?

Thats it, wish everyone would distance and be careful when in public now so the virus will go away and cruising goes back to normal.  Yes, I do plan to cruise this year, I always practice good hygiene as can’t afford to be ill and Princess staff makes cruising the best vacation.

  6. Ineedamaitai,

i have been mainly in suites, but I prefer an inside and when I travel with friends that’s what we get.  With the extra money you can get a Sanctuary lounger for the entire length of your cruise, a thermal suite package, spa treatments and plenty of drinks or casino.  I have turned down many amazing upsell offers to a balcony or mini suite.  We find ourselves even in suites not spending a lot of time in room.  As someone else said, enjoy your space without the kids.  You can turn on the bathroom light and leave the door ajar, we do this even in a suite.  The room is dark when watching movies on tv and taking a nap.  We take a lighted alarm clock that makes us get up and see us coming into ports and enjoying the open decks in the morning.  You will be ok and you will have a good time on your cruise. It is time with family that counts.  Let us know your thoughts when you return.

    Thanks for posting your topic.

  7. Currently on Oosterdam in adjoining SY, loosing the closet to the connecting door for 22 days does make storage difficult.

You will have “the best-amazing” Room Stewards!  We have had major problems in 8086.

Lido Staff, Spa Staff, Dining Room staff, Carlo in Cabana-All are Amazing and will miss them, take good care of them & you will have a wonderful cruise on Oosterdam!

no more shelves on side of bathroom sinks.  Now one drawer  in middle of sinks and shelf under each sink.  Enjoy!!

  8. Hello,

Can’t figure out how HAL does it either.  We booked a guarantee for a long cruise where shorter portions can also be purchased.  We have noticed that on our long segment, not many rooms or suites left however, after typing in the shorter segments there are plenty of all room types and better rooms available especially in suite categories.  We are anxious to find out what we get, they are really trying to sell rooms now at a discount to TA’s.

Good Luck and happy sailing!  Sandipalms
