  1. It’s hard to determine what’s right for you without knowing you!  I had a hard time only using 2 large checked bags and 2 carryons, but that’s me.

I like choices in my wardrobe and I don’t like to spend time doing laundry on vacation.

checking a second suitcase....the answer is always yes for me!

whatever you do, enjoy your cruise.

We will be on Marina  with friends in December.  Because we are in a higher category cabin (penthouse v. veranda) we will be able to make more reservations in the specialty restaurants than they will.  Will we be allowed to include our friends at our table?

Ph can only make more reservations than lower categories if their cruise is more than 17 days.

When a PH invites a lower category to dine with them on one of their allotted reservations, that invite counts as one of the lower category's 4 reservations.

When the lower category time comes to book the specialties, their allotment will be minus the one that the PH booked them in.

I was only going by what OP stated...that he/she was able to make more reservations, not sooner.

I don’t know how long their cruise is, just going by what they stayed.

  3. The way I read it.....

poster in a PH is entitled to make more reservations than veranda, but wishes to include veranda guests in extra reservations.
I do realize that PH can invite veranda guests to share, but I think veranda guests can only prebook number of reservations for that category.

  4. The price is the price at time desired cabin/suite is confirmed, not waitlist price.
waitlisting as a single does not impact final price, but allows for a 50% deposit as opposed to listing both passengers.
brilliant idea!  My TA does it for us as well!

  5. The thermal suite is accessible by key card that is traded for your room key at the spa desk.  Room key will have some sort of sticker on it that shows you have paid for the thermal suite for the whole cruise.

Day passes may be available at the spa desk depending on how many cruise long passes were purchased. I think you may be able to use the thermal suite before or after a spa treatment?

Neptune suites do not get any complimentary use of the thermal suite.

it is worth every penny though!  I have found the cost is lower when purchasing package before cruise, but if it is cheaper once you get on board the difference will be credited to your ship board account.

  6. Just our experience....

we have always had one butler and the usual two person team to do the daily maintenance of our suite.  The  butler performs the other special services provided to PH and above.

it’s been so long but.... I think an extra $10 a day p/p is added to suites service charge that is solely for the butler.  Many passengers believe that no additional tip is necessary, that service is not impacted by extra $$$. Some passengers call it a bribe. I don’t view it as a bribe or a request to put my needs before others, but appreciation for the service I never dreamed I would be exposed to!

there is always a covering butler to take care of anything needed when your assigned butler is on a break (I don’t think they ever sleep). Covering butlers have often brought us room service, but most other services were provided by our assigned butler.

we often travel with friends and sometimes request the same butler. It makes our plans seamless with no need to coordinate times, places, etc.

it also helps to avoid what we like to call. ..”Dueling Butlers” which is when we arrive to the restaurant with 2 butlers each with a recommendation for the best table!  Sounds over the top and stuffy, but boy is it fun!!

Gerry, I get it!  I’m the happy wife!

really looking forward to our next cruise!

  7. Be careful....this is becoming a tipping thread!  Tipping is an extremely personal issue and a hot topic on CC.

Passengers in PH and above pay a daily per person extra tip that goes directly to the butler.  Many passengers feel that no additional tip is needed and have even said some butlers would be insulted to be offered a cash tip or bribe.

I have always tipped extra, yes sometimes at the first meeting. So do what you want and give what you think is appropriate or not!

I guess it depends on how much you actually make use of the butler.

  8. So...you can consume all 6 bottles of spirits in 7 days?  I applaud your dedication. They are only for in cabin consumption and we haven’t fully consumed it all on a 14 day cruise!

Next cruise is only 10 days and that will be a big challenge!  Of course, we always welcome other passengers to help us with the chore!

  9. I have never asked a butler to unpack or pack. First of all, don’t really want anyone touching my girlie things and if he did put away my stuff, how would I know where everything was?

same with packing up. We don’t close up the last bag until late the last nite. Can’t imagine asking the butler to hang around until then.

I’m just so happy when the butler brings us a dinner from polo served course by course that I really don’t require anything else!

but then again, I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth, so just having him around is amazing!!
