  1. Lots going on so haven’t been able to be around much but thought I’d check in with a house update.

We have flooring, carpets, and cabinets all installed.  Doors and trim finishing up this weekend..  Electrical coming Monday for lighting and finish work.  Then plumbing and HVAC finish.  Then the final touches - closet shelves, towel racks, touch up paint, etc.

If all goes well, contractor has given us a tentative finish date of 6/15!  I’ve got appliances being delivered 6/17, and then we’ll take a couple weeks to (finally!!) move back home.

Seattle/family history trivia:  When we were 16, my cousin and I went to the Space Needle (my grandma lived in Ballard so it was a regular deal).  The ticket counter refused to believe we were under 18, so charged us the adult price.  When we got back to my grandma's house and told her what happened, she was livid.  Called the Space Needle and gave them hell.  A couple weeks later in the mail she got like 10 "free" tickets to go up top.

Since the 2 BR suites are limited and in high demand, that's unlikely.

This is merely just the algorithm giving options to bid on what's technically a higher category of cabin, regardless of the practicality of it.

    Yep, exactly.

If they made these on a case-by-case "We don't think someone would want to upgrade from a 2BR suite" decisions, I can imagine the inevitable "Royal sucks, they didn't even give me the chance to bid on a Royal Suite" post that someone else would start.

It looks very nice! It will be like a whole new house.

Question: Do you know what color that gray is? Manufacturer and color. We are looking for a color for our partial siding. I have a sample can of Sherwin Williams "Inkwell", but we haven't test painted yet, and it might be too dark. I like your dark gray.

It’s pretty much going to be a new house…new roof, 3/4 new roof trusses, all new walls, they ended up going down to the studs through the whole house, new electrical, new HVAC.

This is the color scheme…Sherwin Williams. Walls are the Repose Gray and accent walls are the Slate Tile, it’s a darker gray with a very slight blue tint.

  5. A few house pics from today.  Paint is done (minus the inevitable touch-ups).  Doors, trim, and cabinets scheduled over the next couple weeks, then flooring and carpets.  We probably aren’t going to hit our June 1st goal, but it’s getting closer and closer.

Not sure I mentioned, in the last pic you can see a column and the base on the floor to the right.  There was a column on each side of the living room that supported an arch that separated the living room from the entryway.  We always hated that because the columns took away from space that we would have used to put furniture, things on walls, etc.  So we had the reconstruction folks take it out.  Post-fire pic of the arch:

Looks good. Are you going to do popcorn or knockdown? I wish I knew about knockdown when we built ours. I hate popcorn so when we finished the basement did a knockdown and it looks so much better.

We'll just do knockdown.  We're doing a light gray over the walls and ceilings, with a darker gray with a bluish tint accent wall in the living room, master bedroom, and master bath.

  7. The nice thing about living in Seattle is we pretty much live with an eclipse October through April.

    Drywall is up!!!

ETA:  First pic is living room.  One thing I always hated is that there was no lighting.  So we had them put in six can lights.  We also had them take out an arch that separated the entry (where I took the pic from) and the living room.  And there was a gas fireplace that was in the corner by the window that we never used...we had them take that out as well.

Yes I did. I haven’t watched Sailing Doodles as much lately since Bobby is getting kinda creepy with the girls. Did enjoy seeing Soggy and it was interesting that he said his favorite place to eat was Hindos Hideway next door. Thats where we ate and boy was it good.

    Love your idea.

Our SIL was one of the football coach for Eastern Kentucky University—— Smack in the middle of the “Bourbon Trail “.

He collected a few souvenirs while working there.

    Yup.

All those so souvenirs and he rarely drinks, always training and the “refreshments” are not on his diet.

Here is where they are stored.

Nice collection!  I spy a few of my favorites in there.

OMG That’s one of my Unicorn beers.  Just don’t see it out here.  Took me years to get my hands on heady topper & focal banger by Alchemist.

My wife and I were eating lunch out on the street at Russian River, and I kept seeing people carrying 2 or 3 cases of beer out, one even had like 6 on a hand cart.  Asked the waitress and she said, oh yeah that's our Pliny the Elder.  I had one and was hooked.  Left with two cases of it.  Now every time we go down there I always bring a couple cases back home.  Can't find it in any store here either.

Yah it’s a neat app!  I totally understand!  I   love whiskey/bourbon but I am also a big beer/craft beer guy so I don’t always drink whiskey but I will NOT hesitate to buy any whiskies if I see something interesting.  Doesn’t help that the wine & Spirits is literally next door to the beer shop I go to most of the time.  At some

point I will have to limit due to space.

DW likes her old fashioned with BT so I can at least justify 5 bottles of that in hand since it’s not easy to find in my area.

Oh boy, I'm with ya on the beer thing.  About 8-9 years ago we made our first trip to Sonoma Valley CA.  It was my first time trying Pliny the Elder at Russian River and I fell in love with craft IPAs.

i followed you .. My username is “FiveOClockSomewhere”  on there.  Very nice collection 👍🏻

Just followed!  I just realized you can label your bottles opened, unopened, and empty as well.

My wife just shakes her head at me with this 🙂  I've got a few open bottles that are my mixers, about 10 nice bottles that are open and I drink neat occasionally, and about 30 unopened.  I'm kinda following a self-imposed rule now that I can't open one until I've emptied one (I'm about one pour away from emptying my Smoke Wagon, and debating which I'll open next), and I SHOULD have a rule that I can't buy one unless I empty one...but what are ya gonna do 🤷‍♂️

Fantastic idea!  Speaking of bourbon… There’s a free app called OnlyDrams.  I just downloaded this morning.  You can scan all your bottles and track your collection as well as what others have in their collections.  I thinks there’s reviews and other stuff in there too.

Thank you!  Just downloaded that…great way to track!  I follow the guys who made the app, SLB, on Youtube.

    Love the Wilderness Trail.

I haven’t tried it before but this is a barrel pick so I figured it would be a great place to start!

I'm not a huge fan of the 90 proof off the shelf Woodinville, but it’s local and this one is a cask strength group barrel pick that I’ve heard really good things about so I figured I’d pick that one up as well.

@Husky1987   Haven't seen any recent posts.   I hope everyone is doing good and everything is progressing nicely with your home renovations from the fire.

Thank you for thinking of me!  I haven't been here around much, work is busy and my wife got a new job with hours a bit later each evening so I've been playing more house husband as well 😊

House is coming along!  They are finishing up with insulation this week.  Then (yet another!!) inspection for that, then they'll start putting up drywall.  That should take a few days then the real work begins...taping and mudding the drywall will take a week plus.  From there the end is near with the finish work...paint, carpet, floors, trim, etc.  We'll be picking out cabinets soon.  Target date for move-in is mid-May, but not holding my breath.  Could go later with delays, or could even be a bit sooner if everything goes perfectly.

Since we have posted about mustaches it got me thinking as I have had mine for 40 years, what would I look like without one? Photoshop is better than just shaving. I think I like me with one, what do you think. Charlie did not vote.

I look kinda naked without one.

I hear ya.  I've had my beard since 1992.  In all that time, I shaved it off once.  And it couldn't grow back fast enough.
