Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. SummerInKefalonia… I’m hoping you can advise. My teen daughter and I will be there the last week of May. Will it be warm enough for good beach weather? We would love a few hours at Myrtos beach. How far is that from the cruise port at Argostoli? Is it possible to get a taxi at the port and also for the return? Otherwise, the underground lake looks interesting. I would love to find a way to do both but I cannot find an excursion that does this. Any advice?
  2. Hello. How did your visit go? What would you do different? I would love a beach day at a gorgeous beach but I’m not sure which one is both beautiful and accessible.
  3. Hello. We are on this until Treiste, where we disembark. I’m not familiar with any of these ports (usually cruise in the Caribbean) but I’m also having a tricky time figuring out what to do, how long things will take, etc. Of course, the weather could be really warm or perhaps a tad chilly.
  4. Hello. My daughter and I will be at the same ports this coming May. Well, the corfu to tremate portion. So far, only a few of the offered excursions look interesting. Can you tell me what you ended up doing and if you enjoyed it? Were there local tour operators at the port you could utilize last minute? I’ve cruised before in other places in other lines and there were so many more varied options, so I’m not sure if it’s due to the ports or Cunard.
  5. We are joining a 4 week cruise for the last 7 days… boarding in Rome. Because we are joining at the end, do you suppose our boarding time will be earlier since, I’m assuming, there will not be crowds of people embarking that day?
  6. Thank you so much for your wonderful blog posts and for the daily programmes.
  7. Yes, I left out the detail that to book a regular balcony is double the price. I’m exactly in the same situation. Does anyone ever get upgraded without the extra cost to a non- obstructed view?
  8. Hello, My 18 year old daughter and I are looking at a sailing on the QV out of Rome (to Greece etc) in May 2024. We have always enjoyed a balcony on previous cruises, but all that is left of balcony rooms on our sailing are of obstructed views. I've looked at the photos available of each cabin, but this is just a guaranteed obstructed view, so I cannot choose the room. Would you take the risk of the likely totally blocked view, but have some fresh air, or go with the oceanview room? Price is nearly the same. Also, any other suggestions? We have never cruised with Cunard previously. I know this tends to be an older crowd, but she is thrilled about dressing up for formal nights, afternoon tea and less screaming children than our last cruise had.
  9. Hi All, I've never planned this last minute for a cruise:( These are new ports for us. We have 3 active teens. At one port we want to do a nice beach day (chairs, shade, food, maybe some water toys/ kayaks, even renting wave runners) and the other day we would like a snorkel/beach combo day on a boat that isn't too crowded with a ton of people. Even a private/semi private sail boat would be fun. Which one would you do where and any recommendations for a beach that fits that description and a tour company for the other day? RCI Allure... 2 weeks from now.
  10. Yes, please reply what you did?
  11. I just called RCI... and he said they will not tell me pricing for any individual drinks if they aren't in the app. I'd have to wait until I'm on the ship. So lame. So, does anyone know pricing for: Johnny Rockets shakes Vitality spa smoothies and drinks Virgin Pina Coladas Thanks
  12. Okay... I was able to find pricing for sodas ($3.50), plain juices ($3.50) and nonalcholic cocktails like cherry limeade etc ($7). But, I cannot find pricing for shakes from Johnny Rockets or virgin drinks like Pina Coladas or smoothies from the Vitality Spa. Any ideas on those?
  13. First, can I search just in the RCI page? I tried but it brings up results for all cruise lines. #1- The last time we cruised about 8 years ago we were able to stick a luggage tag on a case of bottled water we bought at the store and have it delivered to our cabin. Can we still do that? #2- We are currently signed up for the late dining 8:30 timeslot. Is this going to really interfer with shows and nighttime events? What are the positives and negatives to early vs. late dining? Not interested in MTD since other reviews says it's a hot mess right now. #3- Is there a way to see an ala carte drink menu with prices? We are taking 3 teens and don't want to pay $600 for drinks when we would rather they just have a few "fun" drinks a day (a juice, a soda, a virgin pina colada). They aren't heavy sugar drinkers but will want a "fun" drink every once in awhile. Thanks, christina
  14. How do we find out what the a la carte prices are? This might work better for us?
