  1. I've been on ten CCL cruises and have never been on any other brands. I've been on the Breeze and enjoyed it. I know the Magic is about like the Breeze and looking for our next cruise my wife seen that the Oasis has about the same prices. CCL really dropped the ball on a few things this past cruise and looking around at what's available. Anyone been on both that care to share their comparison?

I have been on both, and to be honest it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other. I had fun on both equally. Can I ask you what are your favorite ships so far and why? That would help me give you a comparison based on what you like. But both are great ships, i would pick on the itinerary/where they leave from ect.

Ill get back to you if you give me an idea of what you like/dislike about certain ships.

I did this same itinerary on the Valor a few years ago. I LOVED the boatyard and seeing the turtles was probably one of my main highlights of the cruise. You got so close to them and they were beautiful. The beach at the boatyard is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. I have some great pics in my Valor review if you want to check them out. Loving the review! (I know I'm a few months late haha)

  3. We headed inside, got in line and went right up to the counter where we checked in and handed them our numerous gift cards. We always get someone that doesn't know how to do this and has to be shown by someone else there...which takes time. They need a training class on this for ALL employees is my opinion.

They handed us our cards and we were headed to the ship.

I think the kids were excited.

Ok, so I'm really late on this review. Always love your reviews, so I'm working my way through it! haha

My last cruise on the Magic, i had like $800 in gift cards to put on our account. the lady had no clue how to do it and told me to do it at guest services on the ship. I said no, i want this taken care of now before i step foot not that ship as i don't want to spend the first hour of my vacation in customer service line! She had to get a manager and after about 25 min was able to get the gift cards on the account. She kept trying to get me to do it on the ship and i refused lol. She was very nice about it, but i put my foot down not that one and was not leaving her desk until they got it straightened out. Why is it so hard to use gift cards?!?

  4. If you order doubles, and you get to 14 (first of all you are probably feeling pretty good...7 doubles). Don't order that 15th drink on the cheers because they will cut you off. No drinks, even if you offer to pay for them after 15. So tell them your paying for a drink for someone else and they won't use your cheers and won't cut you off. It ends up costing more, but if your someone who really likes to drink, I'm guessing that extra $8-10 isn't going to kill you lol.

  5. From what I've found they upgraded cheers to include anything by the drink under 50$ is this still current?

What is this drink that would be close to $50? I'm intrigued.

I was doing shots of some tequila that was like $26/shot on my last cruise. I can't for the life of me remember what it was (guess I did too many) lol. But Im not sure what is more than that.

  6. I'm looking at taking a cruise in July/August. My friend and I started looking at cruises in either the mediterranean or greek isles. I honestly don't know anything about either and was looking for some input. Are there any must see's that could sway my choice? I have been to Rome and Venice before, those aren't must see's to me. Any particular itinerary with amazing beaches?

I honestly can have fun doing just about anything, but some input on comparing the two would be awesome. thanks in advance for your help!

  7. No flames here. Well written and you gave an honest opinion in an appropriate way. I agree with what you say about carnivals entertainment, it's hit or miss. But for me, I don't cruise for that, so that doesn't effect my time on a cruise in any way. Also, those stupid pinhole signs....I agree with that as well (was on the Valor two years ago). Glad you had a good time though and thank you for writing!

  8. I will make this short but it won't be sweet. This was my first time on any Cruise and we went to the Mexican Riviera for 7 days. Everyone told me that the food was so great and all of these things but I completely disagree.

The food was some of the worst Food I've ever had in my entire life. The buffet food seem to all be from a can or a box and nothing was fresh the fruit was hard and not sweet all of the desserts seemed to contain some type of gelatin which not only gave it no flavor but it also made it spongy and very strange. At one point we were so disgusted by the texture of the dessert that I actually gagged. My husband tried to push his finger through the cheesecake and it didn't even penetrate it just push down and spring back up like a sponge. As far as the dining room goes I can't even believe that they can call their filet mignon filet mignon because it is far from that. It's more like pot roast which is strange to me because they're nowhere near the same. The only thing that was good in the dining room food-wise was the chocolate melting cake that's it. The only thing that was good Buffet wise with the pizza that's it. It is definitely worth it to go to Nick and Norah's and spend the $35 because that is the only place on the ship that actually has good quality food everything else is so terrible you couldn't pay me to go back. It is so filled with MSG and sodium that my ankles and legs and hands swelled so much that it was actually painful to walk around.

As far as the Camp Carnival goes they were pretty great they took pretty good care of the kids and make sure they had a lot of good stuff to do. The only redeeming quality to this vacation was the staff. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and sweet and kind they just made it all worth it but I can tell you by the end of the trip even something like Burger King sounded good compared to what I had to be eating the whole time. And I am not being overly critical I'm just being very honest it is terrible and I will never do it again until they switch their menu.

As for the pool and the water slide people are right the water slide doesn't work you have to push yourself down and the pool has so many kids that you can't really relax.

So happy you had a good time, look forward to seeing you back in the future!;-)

  9. Continued:

The Entertainment: I really cant comment much on this. I didn’t do any shows at all, no comedy club etc and mostly just found myself in the Red Frog at night listening the guitar man or over in Ocean Plaza listening to the Alterr Band or 50 shades of groove both of which I really enjoyed tremendously.

The ports: Ive been to Cozumel several times so we just got off the ship and went to the dock area shops and enjoyed a lunch at Ponchos Backyard and then back to the ship we went. In Belize, I stayed on the ship. I was told by Carnival when I booked the cruise that due to me being mobility impaired and in a wheelchair I would have to stay on the ship as the tenders could not accommodate me. Come to fine out, that was wrong. Im ok though. We didn’t have an excursion booked and if you have seen one Diamonds International, Cariloha or Senor Frogs you’ve seen them all right? LOL. In Roatan, we booked a “Best of Roatan” tour through Victor Boddens which included a stop off at his Monkey Business and a personal tour of the island with our guide Atony. This was great! My nephew really enjoyed this part of our trip. I highly recommend Victor Bodden tours . In Costa Maya, we were only there a few hours so we disembarked, did a little shopping and got back on the ship.

In closing, I must say that Im very impressed with Carnival Magic. So much so, that I am looking forward to another cruise on her next year. As I said before, there really is nothing I can find that I consider a “negative” about this cruise. The service was excellent and the food was really good. It really frustrates me that there are people that feel they need to belittle Carnival to make themselves feel better. I truly wonder if they have ever even been on Carnival cruise before. Carnival does a great cruise at a very good price. It is MY opinion that you get the very same or even better on Carnival as you do on Royal Caribbean for a much better price. Our cruise sold out WEEKS in advance so they must be doing something right. They sure have made me a big fan and I can see myself returning to Carnival again and again in the future.

Thank you for reading my review. I apologize for it being kind of long. I will post a few pictures and be glad to answer any questions I can.

    Ryan.

    Hey Ryan-

Great review! Not too long at all! I really enjoyed the read. Glad you had a great time, i sail on her in 2 1/2 weeks! Thank you for writing this Ryan!

  10. Hi, we just got off the Magic and I am planning on writing a thorough review any day now...anybody interested on reading it?

Yes please...sail on her in 19 days!!! Any fun times? Western or Eastern itinerary? We are doing the western ;-)

  11. We are looking to do the southern caribbean route out of San Juan probably next June (2017). Anyone have any advice on the cheapest time to book? Also, with Carnival's flight program, has anyone found prices cheaper at Carnival than on Southwest?

If all else fails and San Juan is out of the price range, we'll probably do a cruise from Florida, but looking at a longer cruise (8-10) days.... Any suggestions? We want to hit the southern caribbean and not the Bahamas.

Not sure if they fly out of your airport, but check Jet Blue. When we did our cruise out of San Juan, Jet Blue had great prices out of Newark. Not sure about the best time to book to be honest.

  12. Would not confront them though, but would complain to guest services and complain each time until it stopped.

I try to be respectful of people around me, but if I was getting to loud for you, I would appreciate if you said something to me instead of running to guest services. Just say "hey, you guys were kind of loud last night any chance you could keep it down at night? We'd really appreciate it." For me...id be much more aware of my noise level and try to respect your wishes.

If you were at work and one of your co workers was doing something wrong or something that was bothering you, would you go talk to that coworker or go complain to his/her boss? I'd hope you wouldn't run crying to the boss. That looks bad on you and would really piss that coworker off.
