  1. If they added them into the fare, you'd have to pay tax on it. You really don't want that. And your sentiments are exactly what enables them to keep raising rates and making cuts. They'll keep jacking up prices and making cuts until they get some pushback. Then they'll know that they've reached the threshold of what their market will bear, and stop.

OMG tax on $6! oh the humanity! Seriously is this really a big deal? If you can't pay an extra $6 on a weeklong cruise...stay home!

  2. I would like to know if I can pay for drinks, not to be included in my Cheers package?

Go to bar and order one drink for me and one for my mom to be charged to my room, not to be part of cheers?

Much like buying a round....not trying to cheat the system here.

    Thanks!

I believe that you can. But not 100% sure. I'll let you know as you will be boarding the Magic as I'm getting off! 😉

  3. Awesome review Kim, really appreciate the time and effort you put in to your reviews! Getting me really excited for mine....31 days!! I just got a new computer, so should be good to go with my review when i get back. Glad you made it home safe!

I just moved out to Colorado from Pittsburgh by the way, i used to work in Ohio 3 days/week (used to work in the oil and gas industry). Zanesville was the furthest west i would go for work but my cousin lives in Dublin, so been to Columbus a few times.

    Thanks again!

  4. Fresh off the Breeze, this being our 7th Carnival , Fabulous time. One thing in all the cruises we've taken that I will never understand...Why must people leave their empty trays, plates, cups etc in the hallway outside their cabin door? Nothing like walking up a hallway and seeing a cup just sitting there or uneaten food on a tray. I don't get why leaving it in the cabin is such a hard thing. I mean would you do this at home? I sure as hell hope not, but maybe that's just me being OCD. Feel free to Flame, I know its coming...but I know I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I was actually told to do that on my one cruise. I was a bit clueless about doing it, but saw everyone else doing it and then was told by the room steward to do it. So...i did it. lol. I agree it looks bad, didn't realize we weren't supposed to.

  5. It's not meant to be snarky. It's simply frustration. I realize that not everyone spends a ton of time on here, and may not recall every single thing that gets discussed. But this subject pops up all the time with the same responses on what is and isn't allowed. Some questions can be answered simply by looking at the FAQs on Carnival's website.

I can totally understand wanting opinions and that is what this place is for. However, I feel like sometimes people just aren't comprehending what others say. That particular Belkin surge protector has been discussed to death. I simply cannot understand what part of surge protectors are prohibited people can't comprehend. And it's gets tiresome of hearing people say they have brought them over and over again and never had a problem. Doesn't matter.

Ok, first of all we are cool on the snarkiness. ;-) I do understand the FAQ's on Carnival's website, but that's not what i'm looking for. I'm looking for personal experiences with ones that work well and are allowed on the ship. With that said can you suggest a model or strip that has worked for you?

  6. Seriously? EVERY SINGLE TIME a power strip thread comes up, someone always has to chime in with this one. For the BILLIONTH time - it has a surge protector. And surge protectors are not allowed. Perhaps one should make use of the search function on here and see the myriad of threads and responses available on subjects.

just saw that...damn. First of all thanks for the heads up about the surge protection on reeruns suggestion. But come on, i ask a question and i get a snarky comments like yours. That's what this forum is for right? asking questions? Just answer the question or don't reply...thanks.

  7.

Thanks Reerun25, i like that one. So I'm guessing your a Clemson fan (based on your icon and being from SC). One request from you guys. Take it easy on us this year, i went to Pitt. haha. I'm actually thinking of flying in from Colorado for the game, always wanted to see a game at Clemson and beings that we won't be down here for another 12 years..here's my shot. lol Good luck this year!

  8. Go for the Oasis. It's an experience in itself. One thing i will say, when we were on the Oasis, it never felt crowded. We ALWAYS were able to find a chair on deck. I had had preconceived notions that with that many people on the ship, it would feel crowded. But it didn't in the least. You will have fun with either cruise, but if you have a chance to sail on the Oasis/Allure...do it.

  9. Just get a 'cheap' outlet splitter or three outlet extension cord. Use plug in USB into the outlets.

Which ship? Most have an Euro 220v, we take a plug adapter. A few older Fantasy class ships have a British 220v outlet.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

I will be on the Magic, and that's a great point. Does it have the Euro outlet?

  10. Ok, my interest has peaked! We're doing a girls only cruise in two weeks and this Quest you speak of would be HILARIOUS!!! We're cruising on the Glory out of Miami. Anyone recently cruised the Glory know if they have this late night Adult Only Game Show???? And who is the CD on the ship? I know there's a chart of all ships CD's somewhere just can't seem to find it! Thanks in advance.. Girls Just Want To Have Fun!!!!

Hey Volmoma, I believe the Quest adult game show is on Royal Caribbean ships. They had it when i was on the Oasis a few years ago. Don't remember from my one carnival cruise, but if they do have something like that, I don't believe it is called the Quest.

  11. Ok, so in the past i didn't have much to charge, just my phone and camera. Now I have my go pro, ill have my computer to download the videos and i need a power strip. I've been looking on Amazon and everything i am finding seems to have surge protection, which from what I understand will not be allowed on the ship. Does anyone have any suggestions on what power strip to get for my cruise in a month?

I'm looking for a combination of regular outlets and USB ports. (I'm ok buying two if i can't find them on the same strip)

    Thanks in advance!

  12.

Can I ask you how much your taxi cost to Reggae? Just wondering because of something I heard on our ride back from Reggae, from another cruiser.

Hey Kim, this is a quick excerpt from my review that I did when i was there. This was two years ago, so not sure if rates are the same but these are the rates when i was there:

"We did a little shopping, got a magnet (got it early today haha) and met a gentleman ready to take us to the beach. We ended up getting the whole cab to ourselves, paid a little more for it, but we pretty much had a personal tour of the island! (Rates for cabs to cockleshell beach are as follows: 1-3 people $28 for the cab, 4+ people is $7 per person). While waiting for the guy to get his cab I took a pic of the ship in port…"

  13. I would have been so pissed if the driver didn't stop at Timothy Hill, especially when the tour said they were supposed to! It's like the most photographed spot on St. Kitts! Cant wait to read about the rest of your day and trip!

When we were in St. Kitts, we just went outside and found a cab and went to the Reggae Beach bar (looking forward to what you think of it, to be honest I wasn't overly impressed, but we had a blast and there was a lady there giving awesome massages).

The driver was so kind to us as he stopped at Timothy Hill for about 10 min to let us get pictures and we didn't even ask him to or "pay" for him to do so. he was so knowledgable about the island and now that I think back, i'm disappointed i didn't get his name. The "bus"/taxi we were on looked like it was about to fall apart, but he was a great driver and we tipped him well.

  14. Found your review from another review. Loved it, gives me ideas for a cruise we are looking at doing. Some same ports but might be jumping ships (RCI). Looks like a good time was had. Hope your next one is a blast!

Thanks!! We had a blast! If you have any questions about the ports, ill do my best to remember. Going on the Magic in 34 days now, ill do another review when i get back. Come check it out!

  15. Good for you, you've got 95% of the outdoors. A week in the casino is fine with me.

Where did I say I wasn't tipping? I took the prepay off and all pre-purchases. As we're all anonymous keyboard warriors, just have to go for the point I was hoping Carnival would see to get a passenger looking forward to a trip. If I would have known the new areas I'd get a balcony near them. I've been part of cc for at least eight years. I only sign on when a cruise is coming up.

Call off the anonymous Pom poms.

You clearly said you were removing all pre paid gratuities. It doesn't matter if you tip while on board, so you tip the waiter that brings you the drink....who do you think made that drink? So you tip the waiters that bring you the food...who do you think made you that food. There are a lot of people that are behind the scenes that benefit from those gratuities.

I understand that you were frustrated with the smoking aspect of it and the fact that it changed right before your sailing. But don't take away money from people that had nothing to do with it, that is what i feel isn't right. I apologize if i attacked your stance on the smoking...but do what's right and keep the gratuities for people that deserve them.

Also, i'm no more anonymous than you are. I have been on ONE Carnival cruise, I hardly bear the Carnival Pom Poms.

  16. Tea time offered the free lipton or Bigelow green.

They also offered for sale their new Art of Tea offerings. We brought our own.

Otherwise Tea Time was exactly the same.

Hey Trumpster, take good care of her, I sail on her in 5 weeks. Can't wait!! Have a blast and thanks for the reports!

  17. I know this will draw some flames. But, I no longer care. I used to like practically everything on this cruise line. I am not happy with the smoking areas change. With a PVP I got a balcony on deck 11 that was close to the midship smoking area. This was just three months ago I booked, the change happened last month. That has vanished and I'd have to walk to the corner of the AFT. My other option, is taking the nearby elevator to the casino bar. I was practically on top of the windy ship and was okay with smoking out there, but now going indoors. I chose this room because of mobility problems and to be considerate being near a smoking area. Now that it has changed, I can only ride the elevator to the casino bar.

After I was informed by a cruiser, I asked to cancel. I could with an $1,100 penalty. So, that wasn't happening. In turn, dining reservations canceled, pre-paid tips canceled. I'm not happy. This cruise is sold out. You'd think Carnival would want someone that is excited about going on a cruise than someone in my position. They could sell it instantly.

You'd also think they'd have updated maps by now on Carnival's website. Nope, have smokers getting cabins in the old areas still with no official announcement. Heald did confirm the changes when asked on his page.

As a non smoker, I love the changes. Smoke doesn't bother me, but I have a relative that is allergic to smoke, she gets stuffed up and her throat starts to close. I'm sorry that an addiction doesn't allow you to have a good time on a cruise. My mom smoked for 45 years and quit and is much healthier because of it. It's not like you can't smoke at all. Just have to go to different areas.

Also, taking your tips away from hard working employees is a childish way of trying to show your displeasure. Think about that, your depriving someone of pay because you dislike changes that carnival made that those workers had ZERO to do with. Shame....

  18. love your reviews, did my first one 2 years ago on the Valor. We did the southern out of San Juan. San Juan is an awesome place (in my opinion), but you are right as to the brown sand. Check out the pre cruise pictures on my review, can see the same sand and that was in the Condado area. We had a beautiful day, and thoroughly enjoyed the beach, but the pool area where we stayed was amazing.

thanks again for your review, I'm looking forward to reading the rest! Also, if you ever get to San Juan again, go have a pina Colada at Barrachina's...best one I ever had ;-)

  19. Hi! Since the Magic is repositioning to Port Canaveral, there aren't any Fun Times or Dining Room menus for me to peruse.

Would anyone be willing to collect and scan these to CC (or mail; I will send you SASE for them) after your cruise so I can review them before my cruise June 18th?

It's the Western Itinerary (Cozumel, Belize, Mahogany Bay, and Costa Maya).

    Thank you!

There isn't much time between our cruises as I'm on the Magic from 5/28-6/4, but it is the western Itinerary and if you don't get the fun times by then let me know. Friend me or something on here and remind me. i always take pictures of the fun times, I'd be happy to send them to you. again, there is only 1 cruise between ours, but if you remind me, ill get them to you.

  20. First of all, I'm sorry that the ship was not up to par from what you were expecting, but i am glad that "all in all" you had a good time. One or two things that i would say. First of all, you only went to the main dining room 1 night, there is a different menu each night...why not try again?

I would agree with the eggs in the buffet, never good on any ship I've been on. lol. The dining room usually has better breakfast foods.

I understand your frustrations on some things like the hot dogs, lunch buffet and so forth, but as someone said, there are sooooooo many things on the ship, that if you kept going back to something you don't like, well that's kind of your own fault.

The one thing that kinda gets me is the room steward thing. I've only been on 3 cruises, but I've never had a room steward trying to get in my room at 7am, and to be honest, never hear anyone else have that happen either. I don't usually sleep in, but I'm not up at 7am every morning on vacation, that's for sure. What was he doing that made you feel the was extremely irritated?

Lastly, I don't cruise for the food, and in fact, if it sucks...i won't gain weight. So that's a plus! ;) lol better luck on your next cruise.
