Trying to determine if we will be ok on our own or if i should be looking at your or what since there’s 6 of us, can’t risk getting lost but would love to explore and maybe even go into oceanagraphie if we have time if not just walking around city of arts and sciences.

I don't think you'll get lost in Valencia, it's really easy to do on your own just using the local buses. We have been before and will be there again in September. A bit of research indicates things will be the same. The free port shuttle to the port gates stops at the ferry terminal entrance. Across the road about 100 metres is a bus stop for the No's 4 and 95 buses. catch the No 4 into the old town/centre of Valencia. A number of buses will take you from there to the futuristic science park and the No 95 will take you back to the port. Bus fares are 1.5 euro. If you use smartphones download the official EMT Valencia app which has all the bus routes. Inside the ferry terminal was a information counter with bus maps etc but they can be downloaded from the EMT site.

Thank you for the info, the kids can handle. We travel a lot and they are used to long days on trains in Europe. Ideally I was thinking a private tour guide with transportion. That would be ideal. Kids will be 10, 7 and 3 at the time of the trip. We spent a month in Europe last year traveling around.

We have 11 hours in port from 8 am to 7 pm.

Many cities require more than a day to fully appreciate, however we always view cruising as a taster or a chance to see somewhere we may never go again. As such and having done both Cadiz and Seville from a cruise, in my opinion Seville is somewhere not to be missed if you have the chance. It will be a long day, its approx 90 mins each way but you have plenty of time on your itinerary, we had less but still saw so much. Sometimes the port stops in Cadiz are much shorter and Cadiz is also a fantastic location to just wander around. Unfortunately I can't recommend a private tour as we did the cruise lines "Seville on your own" excursion which may prove expensive for 6 of you. Basically just a bus to Plaza de Espana and return. Seville is very easy to do on your own, just plan what you want to see. Queues to get into Alcazar were huge and would eat a huge chunk of a day visit sadly but other than that personally I think Seville is a must see.

  3. Google is great if you get the start and end points correct. Google maps doesnt actually show the new pier but switch to satellite view and the new pier is there. So Google says 27 mins. Personally I would recommend walking up Hachiman Zaka Slope for the view I posted earlier rather than the Google route. The whole route can be seen from the ship when docked. We've just returned  two weeks ago, heres some pics of Millenium at the new pier next to the Train Ferry Museum next to the JR Station.

The route is well signposted in English.

She went past Cowes, but headed towards the Needles,

Do you mean more than normal ? I looked at the path on Marine Traffic and it was only slightly further west. All large vessels leaving Southampton water turn west towards the Needles before turning back east past Cowes in a large S bend to avoid Brambles Bank a large sandbar. Low tides or yachts may mean they go further west sometimes but I wouldn't say they went wrong.

As to why walk to the Ropeway, because we like to walk and take in the sites as we walk.  I haven't looked into the tram.  Good to know about it so we know the options in case we decide not to walk.

We also like to walk, I was planning to use the tram until I saw from the ship how short the distance was. Perfectly safe and a bit of a touristy area along the way. It took us about 40 mins but that was with a few photo stops along the way. We returned only last week from a cruise on the Millemium.

As I understand it, whether they use it for tendering or not depends on if they use their tender boats or are required to use local tender boats. If theirs, then the Magic Carpet is used. If local boats, its the more traditional tendering process.

Actually makes no difference, they will use the Magic Carpet with their own tenders or with local boats as in this case in Santorini.

  7. When did OBC supposedly stop ? Last month I booked three 2025 cruises direct with a UK Celebrity agent, Millenium (11 nights), Ascent (11 nights), Silhouette (12 nights) all in standard verandas and got $200 OBC for each cruise.

Do you perchance book in a Suite? if so perhaps that's why you get a dedicated person to handle your bookings.

I don't book suites and have a dedicated cruise planner that I always book with and have done for over 10 years (the same one). I have their email address and direct dial phone number they are based in Weybridge along with the rest of the UK planners.

  9. For years I could not see why so many Brits loved going to the Canary Islands then did a cruise there and could see why. We don't sunbathe at all and don't like beach holidays but there is so much else to see and do on the Islands especially the geology of the places. Cruises from Southampton usually go to Madeira and Lisbon but I believe the Barcelona cruises are shorter and go to Casablanca and maybe Cadiz, definitely worth considering.

Yes, Australia has different rules than most B2Bs.

As I recall, you will need to exit the ship so they can "zero it out" and know all pax have disembarked, either at the end of their sailing or as a B2B.  You will have been issued your new ship cards.  Yes, you will definitely need to pass through immigration on your way out.  Unless rules have changed, you will not be allowed back on the ship immediately (I remember something like must be off at 10:00, first return at 11:30).  Again, unless rules have changed, you can do whatever you want after you disembark, just as long as you are back in time for all aboard and muster for the next leg.

This is exactly what happened to us in March this year. As well as the new sea pass cards which you will need to get back on board so take them with you, you will get a "magic" card that allows to use a fast channel to board whenever you do return bypassing the others checking in.

Morning - i am traveling on Celebrity Edge tomorrow ( sooo excited ) i booked my flight and transfer with Celebrity so I will be picked up at the airport and transferred to the ship

does anyone know if this is a shuttle type of setup or do they wait for a few flights to come in before we set off to the ship .. obviously i want to be on board as soon as possible

    thanks in advance

At Rome airport, after baggage claim head towards exit, Celebrity Reps and crew will be waiting to check you off their list,  (usually to the left as you exit baggage claim). They will take your suitcases and load into cages for transfer to the ship. The transfer will wait for other flights or until they have a full coach load you will then follow the rep for a walk to the waiting coaches.  Keep all your travel documents etc with you as you wont see your suitcases again until onboard.

PS. It will probably be extremely busy as many cruise ships are often doing the same thing, but the reps are fairly obvious.

For those who've been on The Beyond, is the dining menu accurate?  Some say they're accurate and some say to wait until you get onboard to see what it is.

Menu was always accurate when I was on board, although you do probably have to wait until on board when menus for the cruise are loaded, but they always follow a set pattern. Were always able to check next nights menu while dining.
