That's not really how it works. I was on the Apex. Dining meant having to watch large parties coming in and out during your entire meal, walking behind your chair, etc. It meant listening to wait staff explain deserts on one side of you, appetizers on the other, and main courses to the big table of 8 behind you.
It's certainly how it worked for us on both the Edge and Beyond in a quiet section , you seem to have been unfortunate. To us it seemed that there were different sections of the dining rooms for anytime and traditional dining.

To answer your question, no it is not normal to have to go to the bar to order a drink. I have read that staffing has been an issue lately and has had an effect on service. Possibly, that was the reason. That being said, we spent 14 days on the Silhouette this past June. We frequented the Ensemble Lounge and/or the Martini Bar every night and never once felt the need to go to the bar to order a beverage. So sorry you experienced this lack of service on your sailing. Be assured that this is not the norm on Celebrity ships.
Totally agree, we have just returned from an Iceland cruise on Silhouette and did not have to wait any significant time to be served in the Ensemble, Martini, Passport or Sunset bars. Occasionally in the Oceanview when it was extremely busy I was more than happy to go to the bar to get my wife a top up but there was no shortage of wait staff getting drinks for people.

I didn't realize that splitting it up into 4 meant anytime dining in each, not 4 traditional main dining rooms. That made the dining rooms more like busy restaurants with the tables too close together instead of a cruise ship dinner experience.
The four main dining rooms do both anytime and traditional seating for those that want it. Just as in the S class MDR you can be allocated a table in one of the four and stay there all cruise if you wish. They are attractive locations and we found many suite guests choosing to dine there causing longer queues for anytime dining.

The four MDR’s on Edge are all different and beautiful, we enjoyed them all, but they might not be as enjoyable for those who prefer to have the same wait staff each night. The food was very good on both ships and we received excellent service all around.
I agree with all of your comments but I would replace Equinox with Silhouette .
Just so you know Edge class ships still do traditional dining (6.30pm or 8.30pm), you can have the same table and staff every night and walk past all the queues straight to your table and choose your menu from any of the other three dining rooms.

Just returned from Iceland on Silhouette, three chic nights.

We've just finished an Iceland cruise on Silhouette and there was a karaoke night in the Sky Lounge, quite popular performed with the live band, good fun evening.

I have been on Edge and Apex and will be on Beyond in November. I believe the only time a Sky Suite balcony would be blocked would be when the Magic Carpet is going from it primary location adjacent to the pool deck (Deck 14) down to serve as a disembarkation deck (Deck 5). The Magic Carpet does not go up and down while the ship is moving. In fact, I've never seen it lowered on the three Edge class ships I've been on. I do not believe that any of the Sky Suites would be blocked by the Magic Carpet although cabins on Deck 12 starboard side of the ship may be in the shadow of the Magic Carpet when it's overhead.
We have also seen the Magic Carpet hibernate on deck 15 (Edge), used as tender dock on 2 and dining location on deck 5 (Beyond) on chic nights. as well as its usual location on deck 14. If there is a restricted view I imagine it will be for suite guests on deck 6 looking at its roof while on deck 5.

Currently on Silhouette Iceland Cruise. jwlane comments still accurate, no HH in Sky lounge, hasn't been for ages.
Hardly anyone in formal wear on Chic nights but just very smart clothes. Over 90% full and the service and food everywhere is very good.

We are currently on the Silhouette, the ship is over 90% full and the service everywhere has frankly been excellent. We were on the Beyond "Maiden" voyage and the service was about the same, certainly not better.

It is not there, but I didn’t see a menu that included the Bleu Cheese Soufflé app which is usually on the second chic night along with lobster.
Again, wait till you are on board, can't be stressed enough, Bleu Cheese is on tomorrow night along with Beef Wellington etc.

Silhouette Sept 10- next week. Second Chic night is day 8- no lobster on menu. No lobster the entire cruise.
We are currently on board Silhouette (Iceland Cruise) the app works perfectly when on board, on this cruise there are three chic nights and lobster is on tomorrow night. The menus have been accurate every night.

Don't expect anything sensible from the app until you have completed check in.

So over 90% full then.
-
It maybe that proof of vaccination status will only be required when boarding (as it is now anyway) and uploading to the app is dropped as it had too many issues for many.

We do not sit on any balcony on any ship when the sun is shining directly into the cabin, thus we do not have this concern. Regular Veranda cabin or Infinite Veranda cabin, with AC on and direct sunlight, will still lose cooling integrity unless you close the curtain or drop the dark screen. Just like you leave the balcony doors closed when on a regular veranda, leave the window up if you want the AC to stay on in an IV. Such an insignificant factor when determining what kind of cabin to purchase.
You missed the point, which was to challenge your repeated assertion that the room remains a comfortable temperature with the window open and the bifold doors closed. In climates where the outside climate is way over 30 degrees C and high humidity (as it so often is) in the med this is not true. I'm ambivalent about the IV but there will be many who don't find these issues as insignificant as you do. You do however point out the screamingly obvious about closing the window and curtains to keep the room cool. BUT, when you close the curtains in a conventional cabin, what do you still have that you don't have in an IV, thats right, you still have a large balcony separate from the room which some people may enjoy and find significant. In an IV its not even an ocean view it's an inside cabin and can be for much of the afternoon/evening.
