  1. For the first time I am hiring an electric wheelchair for our next cruise.

We are using CPS parking and Mobility at Sea will meet us at the terminal with the chair, so I will only have to walk a few steps from drop off.

At the end of the cruise, however, we have to leave the chair in baggage reclaim.

I know from past experience that it is a bit of a walk from there to the car park. Can I arrange a wheelchair from here to the car park once I am on board?

On a lighter note I have never used a power chair before. Should I get ‘L’ plates?

  2. I can only book within 12 month as insurance companies in U.K. will only insure one year ahead, also my condition is slowly progressive so I don’t know how much I will have deteriorated more than a year ahead. I always check how much it will cost me as it goes up a few hundred pounds every year. So I mostly miss out on getting an accessible cabin and therefore can’t take a scooter.

Several people have suggested that more accessible cabins should be available but this is governed by the size of the ship and the crew available to help the handicapped in the event of an emergency.

  3. On Ventura we tried a special offer for lunch in Sindhu, wasn’t very impressed with food or service. Glasshouse; 3 small plates, tasty but too much. Epicurean, fantastic, wonderful food and service, paid for with our OBC.

We don’t book until onboard as we don’t want to miss Formal nights in MDR

  4. We have booked Spirit of Discovery to Norway on 5 September 2019. Their included insurance is important to us, we have a couple of medical conditions each. For a 7 night cruise after shopping around the best price we could get was over £300 ranging up to £1600. With our Saga booking the insurance was included, no excess for our medical problems or age, and we were able to get insurance over a year ahead. Plus, of course all the other perks, car to port, wine with meals, free speciality restaurants, free wi fi; it all adds up.

Have been on many Saga holidays worldwide, tours and hotels, all excellent, so we are looking forward to our first Saga Cruise.

  5. Went on Aurora a few years ago on a mini cruise. She’s a very pretty ship with her tiered sten and has a lovely Crow’s Nest at the front.

We enjoyed our short cruise on her.

  6. Worst excursion we have ever done. Andulusian Drive. Supposed to see white villages and herds of fighting bulls.

Saw one village on a hill about 2 miles away and one bull high up on another hill, then got to Conil, nothing there except a couple of cafes. Waited three quarters of an hour to use the one loo. Guide was useless too. Waste of time and money.

Take note of the excellent previous suggestions.

When we visit again in October we are going to Jerez to see the horses. Really looking forward to that.

  7. Does anyone know if this is on all cruises? We are on Ventura in October for 12/13 nights and would love to see it.

Title should read Astonishing. Sorry can’t edit title.

Do you have to book tickets?

  8. Went to a luxury lodge on the Amazon after our tour of Peru. We flew into Iquitos so different area to you.

Take your malaria pills and get all your vaccinations and plenty of insect repellent. Loved it there, we went Pirana fishing, saw pink dolphins and went on a tuk tuk ride through a small town. Also went to a “native” village, but we think it was just put on for tourists. Enjoy it, never been anywhere like it. Wildlife and especially birds are amazing. Go on a boat ride along the river if you can.

  9. I use a wheelchair, so with that and lugging our suitcases on and off buses my husband finds this too much for him, so we always use CPS. Park outside terminal, porters take your luggage. When you disembark helpful porters help you with luggage while your companion wheels you out to you car; five minutes. If you book Select parking is included.

  10. On our last cruise my partner insisted we wait in our cabin until called. I use a wheelchair so had to use the lifts to get to muster. All lifts were occupied until 10 minutes after muster time so we were very late arriving.

Shalln’t do that again, if you really need the lift get there early.

  11. Thank you for your reply. We may reconsider this as we are animal lovers and consider that training is best done with kindness.

Will think about just doing Cadiz on our own. Are there lots of cobblestones as these are difficult with a wheelchair although we manage if there are no steep inclines?

  12. I was looking at this P and O excursion from Cadiz when we go on Ventura in the autumn.

I use a wheelchair but can walk a few steps. On the P and O website it says 25 steps to the viewing arena, but on the Jerez horses website it says that it wheelchair accessible.

I need my wheelchair from my cabin to the disembarkation area and to the port exit. Would also need it from the coach to the horse arena.

Does anyone know if P and O could accommodate this? When I have phoned them previously they have been less than helpful.

  13. A few years ago we called at Stavanger and caught the so called ho ho bus, no cheap. Found out about it from the unhelpful and rude Tourist office. Had to change buses 3 times before we started

We went on a ride around the suburbs, not interesting except for seeing the famous swords.

Bus didn’t stop so not exactly hop on hop off, but nothing of interest to see anyway.

Unless this has changed don’t bother.

    But the fjords are beautiful.
