  1. Cat I bring my cat?? She provides support and it is a chore to find someone to care for her when I am cruising. The furniture on the ship will never be the same and she is a little vocal. I could bring her food and let me tell you the dining room will empty when I open her tuna pate can. I am not sure I can get her to ride in a stroller.... SHE is an ANIMAL. I don't think I will try and dress her up as I am on blood thinners.

I am so sad to see the way people bring their dogs every where these days. I was just at my local grocery store and almost every time I go I see a dog in the store. Today it was a pit bull. Last time there was a medium sized mutt riding in the cart in the baby seat and it was barking and snapping at shoppers as they passed. I have seen a mutt lift his leg and decorate a display in the produce department.

I confronted the owner and she said it was OK as it was a comfort dog!! I have talked to the store management and they say they can't do anything.

I can do something.... go to store that will not allow dogs.

Real service animals are wonderful and I respect the wonderful job they do for their companions. I hope the cruise industry can control this new distasteful issue of dogs at sea.

I love my pet but I am not going to drag her around.

  2. I have been looking for just such a cruise. I live in Arizona and love any California ports. I hope Princess listens. I saw one on another cruise line and it had the option to continue up to Alaska. Come on lets go! I want to go the full transit of the canal, Costa Rica, San Francisco, Victoria and ports in between.

  3. I got my backpack and flipped it over and dumped everything out to see what I had. I had suntan lotion, wallet, old pp, birth certificate, my cell phone, headphones and RCL stuff. Oh, my swimming trunks and an extra shirt, which I usually do NOT carry or have on me, but for some reason I did ;)

I frantically grab my phone to call my family, it rings then nothing. I tried several times, then finally, my phone DIES!! HOW CAN THIS BE!??? No phone! I have no charger either, now what!? I grab the other backpacks and dump everything out! My friends and his daughters clothes from them changing at Atlantis, my sons clothes, TWO CELL PHONES! A charger for an iPhone, which I do no have. Two wallets, CASH, glasses and a wrinkled up $20 bill!....

I go to use one of the phones, it needs a PASSWORD! OMG, I don't have my friends pw. I grab the other phone, which belongs to his daughters. Bingo, no pw needed!! I start to call my other friend, which happens to be the phone owners uncle. HE ANSWERS!!! My wife, my sons are all there! FINALLY, I hear their voices! First thing I hear, we love you, we miss you! And my son, saying 'dad, I 'm so sorry, I didn't know you told us to be back at 330, I would've been there'. I said, its ok, I know YOU would've, its ok. As long as you guys are on the boat together, that's all that matters. I was teary eyed, but obviously had to act like I was ok and that I was in control. They asked me what happened? Where did I go? Where am I? Am I scared? No, of course I'm not, lol! ;) They didn't need to know.....

It doesn't matter what any of us think. All that matters is that your son knows you love and care for him so much that you would watch the ship leave because he might need you. We can learn from your adventure and enjoy your writing. You can hug your son and that is what counts. No cruise or vacation is perfect and until we are in the same situation with the the same emotions we cannot know.

Thank you for sharing with us. We have an opportunity to learn form what happened to your family.

    Thank you.

  4. Great, now I am not going to sleep tonight. It is such a worry about being late to the ship. I am one of those that tries to return way early even if it means missing time at a port.

This sounds like a case of the best laid plans going wrong. Until we have been in the OP shoes it is hard to know what we would do. I have learned from his adventure like the phone info! Who knew you could get back on the ship without your SS card??

Good luck to all cruisers out there. Be careful. Maybe we should invent an alarm watch communicator device. Waterproof of course. They would be set on ship time and would provide a shock if not turned off by entering the ship. We could call it WHERE ARE YOU?? RUN!!

  5. Your sense of whimsy is refreshing! Sounds like you would be a fun time; maybe you can be the CD on this newly created voyage? HAHA :D

    Thank you,

Let's get this cruise floating first. I used to conduct assemblies in middle schools and I love being in front of a crowd so that is about the same thing. I ended my career in education managing a clothing bank and food bank in an inner city high school. Different crowd but still very fun.

I will see you on board our dream cruise.

  6. If we are asking Princess for a dream cruise can we please ask for a dream price? They should give us a price break just for coming up with this great plan. No one else, just us. They might need a test run or something. We could spread the word on CC and everything.

Come on Princess....cause a big stir in the cruise world. We love cruising and this would be great. Think of the ads...parkas and flip flops, glaciers and volcanos. Pine trees and palm trees.

To make it interesting we could do musical cabins. You only get the balcony for one portion and then switch. It would cut the cost and on a sea day when you hear Hawaiian music you grab your stuff and move. Pack light.

I will meet you by the pool for a hot chocolate with an umbrella or a fruity drink with a candy cane.

  7. Thinking of taking a 7 day cruise to Mexico on the Crown Princess in an inside cabin. Any recommendations? Have never been on the crown and we usually have a caribe balcony on other ships but decided to do inside this time. I know there are larger inside rooms on some ships (d716 &717) and wondered if the Crown had any of these "special" inside cabins.

Has anyone stayed on the Plaza deck and thoughts?

We are looking at L248, p340 or A312

    Thanks for any input.

    Sue

I have booked an inside on the Crown Lido deck for a cruise next year and I will be very interested to hear from anyone concerning these cabins also. It seems that it will be very convenient to all the fun on the Lido deck but I worry about the noise. Sue, don't wait too long to book your cabin as the HC cabins seem to get reserved very fast. We need more cabins to choose from!

    Good luck and smooth sailing

    Sue

  8. Happy travels,

I am going to change my reservation on the NCL Jewell and I wondered if anyone has had experience with the inside cabins? There isn't very many but they look huge. I looked through the cabin reviews with no luck. I was also looking at the sideways ocean views. Any information would be appreciated.

    Thank you in advance

  9. I was on the Ryndam coming back from a summer of classes at Oxford following my graduation from High school. It was a different ship than now and I remember the dining room had a raised wooden edge on the tables to keep the plates from sliding off. We had a bunch of students on board and our rooms were inside cabins with built in bunks. The bunks also had a raised wooden edge to keep us from falling out on the rough TA crossing. We had been taking English Literature classes and some of the kids had costumes from Shakespeare dramas we enjoyed. I can still remember standing on the deck and seeing the Statue of Liberty with all the kids I had spent the summer with. It was 45 years ago and today is the anniversary of the first moon walk. Somewhere I have an Oxford England paper with the headline of the moon walk from 1969. I loved every moment of the trip and the sea is still calling.

  10. I always bring my inflatable pool. That way I don't have to deal with crowds around the ship's pools. :D

And I often bring my Weber BBQ so I can grill my favorite bratwurst just the way I like it. :)

I used to bring my skeet shooting gear, but with the TSA rules in place these days, it's now harder to bring a rifle along on my vacations. :(

Too funny. I think I have been behind you at check in. I think I will bring a nice palm tree for the corner of the balcony. Maybe a nice rug. What about wind chimes and bird feeders?? Just having fun. Enjoy your cruise. Oh yeah, I forgot, I have an inside cabin!

  11. Thank you everyone for this relaxing post. I can't wait to join you early risers and watch the sun come up and to see the ship come to life. Maybe just for fun we could switch some the towels and stuff around left by the chogs. We won't take anything.....just move it around and then we can watch the results and enjoy a second cup of tea.:p:D:)

Once again I had some good karma going and blew it.
