  1. Thank you Hannibal, so it sounds like we should aim to get off the ship a lot earlier than our tour time. If anyone else has recent specifics, I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks!

We were on the Sky last week. It was announced on Monday night that tickets for departure would be given out at 7am the next morning. I showed up at about 6:40 and was about 5th in line receiving group #1! We were able to grab breakfast and were called about 8:40. There was quite a line for customs and security, a short wait at the money exchange then off we went to find our guide. We also had a 10 am tour and found our guide by 9:30. Hope it goes as smoothly for you!

  2. Packing cubes allow you to pack efficiently and unpack/pack quickly. Cubes can fit in drawers or on the shelves and keep clothes neat. I pack clothes by type and use a spare cube for dirty clothes.

  3. I got the same email and called to inquire about purchasing for my 1/7/18 Jewel cruise. Had difficulty communicating with the agent but eventually figured she was telling me that despite receiving the email which indicate my cruise info this cruise was not included in the sale. I then asked to be connected to a supervisor for clarification, waited on hold 20 minutes before finally hanging up. Poor customer service.

  4. I am a classic ginger with red hair, blue eyes, freckles, and VERY fair skin. Any tips on how to enjoy my cruise and not get burned? I typically don't spend more than 30 minutes outside at a time because I burn even with sunscreen. I know the basics, sunscreen, long sleeve rashguard, hat, and reapply the sunscreen often, but normally I stay indoors when the sun is at it's peak and limit my time in the sun as much as possible. I live in NC, so I know the Caribbean and Bahamas are much closer to the equator than I am used to.

I also believe that SPF clothing is a great investment. You will find a big selection at Lands End and a website called Coolibar. I've found that if I snorkel in a regular T shirt I get burned on my back but not in my Lands Ends SPF shirts.

  5. I like to use packing cubes for better packing and more importantly unpacking. The cubes allow me to utilize the shelves and drawers in the cabin. It keeps clothes less wrinkled too. I pack like items together, e.g. Shirts together, shorts together, etc. I purchased mine from ebags.com but I have seen them in travel stores too.

  6. We needed to do the same thing after our cruise last fall. The luggage storage at the pier closed much too soon so we were advised to store our luggage at the Edgewater Hotel just down the street from the pier. There was a nominal fee and we could return for them at anytime! Great friendly service.

  7. Twinprincesses - we are booked for September and plan to bring Euros to convert. I am interested in hearing from the first groups of passengers about reviews on excursions. There seem to be many educational and cultural choices. We have paid the $75 fee for NCL to secure our visas.

  8. Just off the Pearl's last trip of the season. The itinerary was great except for the late arrival in Victoria. I'd like to recommend an aft balcony. Not only did we have a spectacular view we were able to use it when side balconies were too windy/rainy. Ours on deck 10 was deep holding 2 chairs and loungers. Enjoy whichever trip you choose!

  9. I think I've narrowed my pre cruise choices to two similar priced hotels, the Four Seasons and Harbour Rocks. Can anyone offer reasons to choose one over the other? Is the fact that the Four Seasons is on the other side of the expressway an issue for walking to the Rocks area or the ferries? Many thanks to all who have posted previously about hotels. Your advice has been most helpful!

  10. Mizzori, we stayed at the Yve once and won't return. Our room was so small we found it difficult to find a space to open our bags. Maybe we just were unlucky but that was our experience. In addition it has the smallest and therefore busiest elevator making checkout a nightmare.

  11. Just returned from Jewel transit a couple of days ago. We had an aft balcony which provided a wonderful view. Combined with camera view of bow we had a great experience. Visited a friends starboard balcony which gave a great view of how little space there was at the sides. Bow was way too crowded to see much unless you were right a rail. Commentator was excellent !
