  1. your chance of scoring an upgrade depends on many things - luck being the biggest. Each cruiseline has a different policy. NCL for example as an upsell desk that calls pax and offers upgrades to higher categories for a fee if those cabins are not selling. HAL is almost impossible to score an upgrade as their line attracts alot of loyal customers that book the PS and S categories so they are not usually plentiful for upgrade consideration. the best advice i can give is book the category that will ensure you will enjoy your vacation and don't count on an upgrade. If the upgrade fairy touches your booking, it will be a very pleasant unexpected surprise. happy sailing!

  2. I don't care about the cholesterol, I just want a good steak. I haven't had a decent one since my DH took me to Milwaukee a few years ago. Thanks for the info, now it's just sit and wait as all arrangements are set. That is unless SONG decides to go BK. I have been checking our flights on the web and all the seats are still open except for ours....makes me a little nervous. Happy Sailing!

  3. Karen11g: Nope, flying into Tampa from west coast, no parking required. I'll post my impression of the hotel upon my return. It's gotten some neutral feedback on tripadvisor but nothing horrible. Like I commented before, only shower and decent bed is my requirement for a one night precruise stay.

Crack Ken: Thanks for the Don Shula info. We can't get tasty steaks on the west coast for some reason so I'll be sure to try this restaurant.

    Happy Sailing!

  4. FYI - If anyone is thinking of booking this hotel, I suggest you use Priceline. If you pick 3*, Tampa airport/westshore and bid around $50, you will probably get the Wyndham Westshore. Beats paying the $149 per night price listed on their website. I have read mixed reviews on tripadvisor.com so based upon that information, I wouldn't be willing to pay the $149 per night, but could handle the issues for less than half that price. Happy Sailing!

  5. I wasn't aware you can pay your shipboard credit with cash (green stuff). I thought you had to give them something, a Credit or Debit card, or money order/cashier's check. Otherwise, couldn't somebody say they don't have the money at the end of the cruise and then what? OVERBOARD? :D Happy Sailing!

  6. I fell in love with their chocolate covered strawberries a long time ago. During our cruise on the Ryndam last yr, my husband commented on how much we loved them to a DR steward and he returned with a tray full to take back to our cabin. NOW THAT'S SERVICE!!! 73 more days until 15 days of heaven onboard the Statendam to Hawaii!!! Chocolate strawberries here I come! Happy Sailing!
