  1. The OP is likely asking about 6145 as they said that is the cabin they are in on another post. This particular cabin connects to the penthouse. Generally the noise reported from the penthouse has been from the piano.

I can see, if you're reading, or enjoying some peace, or listening to the ocean, how the nice, but unwanted noise could be disturbing even if it was "pleasant".

We leave in Maine. It's cold and there are weather striplings that are removable, like putties. People strip windows and doors they use in the summer but want to seal in the winter. I think your questions was pretty ingenious. I'd recommend a search for "removable weather stripping" on Google or Amazon.

Enjoy the cabin, it is a great cabin, with the best bathroom below a royal suite on the ship.

    Happy sailing,

    Jenna

    Thanks for your helpful tip!

  2. Taking a 14-day cruise. My cabin has a door to an adjoining suite, and posts elsewhere suggest that there will be pass-through noise.

Some suggest placing a towel at the base of the door. I'm thinking of weather-stripping the entire door, but do not want to do anything that will cause damage to the cabin, or otherwise leave a sticky residue.

Anyone with any experience in matters like this who can suggest a good fix? (and yes, I have heard of Ambien, earplugs and white noise machines)

    Many thanks!

  3. We also have sometimes gotten a case of water on our way to the port and it's delivered to the room. We had the taxi driver stop in front of a Walgreens and we were in and out in 2 min. On one cruise on Eclipse, I asked (because it was our first suite and honestly I didn't know) our butler if we got water. He said he wasn't sure. That was day 2, and every day after that there were always about 5 or 6 bottles in the room. They just appeared ;) We gave him a large tip.

Hi ClaudiaB! I am very curious about your experience of getting a case of water delivered to your cabin. We have done this when sailing Holland America, but did not know that we could with Celebrity. Was your water packed in clear wrapping or a cardboard box? Cool that you were able to do this. Thanks for all the tips above (and more).

  4. Thanks for all the helpful and encouraging responses. We did commit to the Sky Suite (and have the largest one on the ship), and the water issue was never a factor in the decision.I just realized afterward that the water was a lost benefit. No biggie: Since we already had two free drink packages, I had been thinking of of selecting another benefit instead, particularly since the suite offers cappuccinos ensuite. I'll stick to the drink packages as Mrs notjaded and I consume legion amounts of water and cappuccinos.

  5. To use your own expression your question was simple but perplexing. You also partially answered it yourself. I provided a further piece of information. Enjoy your Sky suite.

I'm always pleased when helpful people respond, for that is Cruise Critic at its best. Thank you for your kind reply.

  6. You sound disappointed that you have been upgraded. Why not look at the benefits of being in a suite?

To answer your question there is also the flavoured cold tea infusion that you get every day in AQ. Other than that and the things you have mentioned I can't think of anything that you will miss. The 2 bottles of water are only 500ml each so I wouldn't get too upset at losing them. If you have a free beverage package you can easily take bottles back to your suite.

Apparently, you and the last poster feel compelled to read into my question and/or impute mood states to me. This is perplexing: I thought I asked a simple question and requested knowledgeable people to respond.

  7. Thanks in advance to all the knowledgeable folks who choose to reply:

We were just upgraded from Aqua Class to a Sky Suite on the Millennium. As far as I can tell, having chosen this upgrade, we will not be getting complimentary bottled water in the cabin each day.

For those who have done Sky Suites before, is this correct?

Anything else we will miss? I know about Persian Garden access is not complimentary, and that Blu is on "Space Available."

    Thanks!

  8. CONSTELLATION

    CABIN #: 6145

    DECK #: Penthouse

    CLASS: Sky Suite

    AREA: AFT

BED NEAR: Bathroom - Unlike a standard stateroom, the bed is on the wall facing the outside wall/balcony door. Bathroom was huge, unlike the standard SS's (see photos)

QUIET?: Fairly. Could hear piano being played in the connecting PH, and also heard a child having a temper tantrum, but this was during the day and did not bother us. ;)

BALCONY VIEW: Beautiful of the port side.

BALCONY SIZE: Very large (see photo)

    WIND A PROBLEM?: Not really

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: The closet door slide instead of opening out. One side has shelves with a safe on one. The other side is for hanging clothes. Neither is large and the door made it awkward to get to things. There were also automatic lights in the closet - one for each side. If the doors were not closed just so, the light would stay on. The doors also had a habit of sliding when there was ship movement. I woke up one night to a light glaring in my eyes. The door had come open in the middle of the night.

Not enough electrical outlets for U.S appliances. Plenty for European! Take some 2 prong adaptors to use with small electronics such as cell phones and iPads or convertible current appliances.

Thank you for your post and pictures. I just got upgraded to a similar cabin on the Millie!

  9. Not quite sure I understand your Question regarding the retrofit.

These are NEW cabins that were added to the 11th Deck on the M-Class Ships during Solsticization

Prior to this, there were NO Cabins whatsoever on Deck 11

    Cheers!

Retrofit was probably a poor word choice on my part. Yes, I realize that these were newly-placed cabins on the Millennium. I was not aware all of the ships of this class were so configured on the 11th floor. Thanks.

  10. For Celebrity "No one will be allow to board unless they have a visa for China" is not entirely true. It depends on the itinerary. If the ship only visit a Chinese port and depart within 24hours to a different country, China has a 24 hours visa-free transit policy (new since July 2013) that allow you to remain on the ship visa free.

I will be on a Celebrity cruise that sail from Tokyo to Hong Kong visiting Shanghai for less then 24 hours to a 3rd country. I have received written confirmation from documentation officers on board that Celebrity cruise ship and I was told I'll be able to board the ship without a China visa in Tokyo.

Other cruise line (Princess/HAL etc.) may have different policy regarding China visa I believe they require one regardless if you are staying on board the ship or not or even if the sailing meet the 24hours visa-free transit policy.

For Max, a Canadian, here is some information for you:

    http://visaservicescanada.ca/countries/china.php

It will be very sad if anyone takes your advice and is left in Tokyo because of it. If your documentation officer is still employed, I am sure he will be reprimanded as they sail off without you. Get the visa and join the party.

Please note that the 24-hour visa-free policy is for airport transfers, not ships coming into port. These policies are universally enforced by the Chinese government, with the cruise lines facing huge fines if they do not comply.

  11. I've see various posts debating whether or not Celebrity will board a passenger without them having a China visa when the ship visits China (not Hong Kong). Some have opined that without a visa, one will simply not disembark in China.

Got a voice message from Celebrity today: No one will be allowed to board the ship unless they have a visa for China.
