Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. https://nypost.com/2024/04/01/us-news/6-american-2-australian-cruise-ship-passengers-stranded-on-african-island-after-norwegian-cruise-refused-to-let-them-board/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&utm_source=pasteboard_app Just read in the NY Post the passengers traveled to Gambia, which was the next stop on Sunday, but the ship couldn’t dock there due to low tide. So now they’re making their way to Senegal for Tuesday, but they have to take a ferry, but the ferry hasn’t been running lately. told they’ll just get a little boat to take them, then it’s just a 4 hour car ride to the dock. this is becoming a real adventure!
  2. They had this on our transatlantic. I had never seen it before. I loved it! it was so simple, but so much fun. And we won too! I would be ok with having it once each cruise.
  3. And that’s why anyone who is involved in any way, shape or form should be sequestered in their cabin under guard until the next port and put off, or they can go to the brig and then put off. ill go as far as to say their whole party should be getting put off. If you can’t act civilized, you can’t sail. And just cause I’m petty, I’d let every other cruise line know their names. They can do what they want with that info. No cruise line is in such dire straits that they need these idiots sailing.
  4. I can’t comment on this particular sailing and why it was delayed but as is always the issue on every ship I have sailed- everybody wants to be the first one off the ship, so instead of waiting in a lounge area or in lido or in the theater, everyone just waits in the area near the elevators and on the stairs. On every deck. I guess the thinking is as soon as they call my number I’ll just waltz my happy azz down the stairs and off. except- there’s no where to walk! carnival needs to assign designated waiting areas per number, rope off those areas and not let anyone wait there. Staff should be directing people who are coming off elevators to go to the above mentioned areas based on their number. just tell me where to wait based on my number. Lower numbers wait in places on lower decks. But if you’re the last number you shouldn’t be waiting around the elevators on deck 4. this way when your number is called, everyone from let’s say the theater should be the only people moving about the ship. debark lines that snake around the ship are ridiculous.
  5. And I’ll add to this- what exactly does one say to the TA to fire them? Based on the title, others may be having the same issue and also need this info.
  6. The issue the OP is having is that their TA is not communicating back to them. Which is a valid complaint to me. it has nothing to do with -whether a TA is good or bad. - whether a TA can give OBC - whether they know more or less than a PVP - whether they know about insurance. - it any other tangent that this post went to. they just didn’t realize that carnival can’t talk to them about their reservation and asked for guidance if there is any way around that. Im sure many people had no idea that’s how it goes. so OP, ignoring all the tangents, try to figure out how to go up the chain of command at your specific travel agency. Whether you want to fire them is up to you. I hope you get done what needs to be done and have a wonderful cruise.
  7. If you go to the CCL website but do not sign in fill in one or more search for a cruise field after the offerings come up, click on the filters. open the deal drop down. If you scroll down, you’ll see a box to enter your VIFP number- BUT under that is says “ lookup your #” or something like that. you enter your name and date of birth and it will look it up for you. The name has to match exactly as you booked your previous cruise. ( middle name or initial, jr or sr- took me a while to find H’s, because of the way he was booked) I’ll add a pic in a minute
  8. So this is our first cruise on royal, going on freedom of the seas. - not doing dining package, but want to do 1 specialty restaurant. I can book it and pay for it, does that payment link to my sea card so when I go to eat I just tell them I already paid for it? - do I pay for excursions on a separate credit card prior to sailing? Someone told me the booking gets held and the payment goes on my sea card once I board? ( which seems odd) - and seems silly, but what happens if I fall on the flow rider? Do I get swept away to the bottom? Is it any fun? thanks for any help
  9. We’re doing a b2b on the pride this sept-oct that goes to Italy, Greece, turkey and Croatia so I’m off to read your trip report. then we’ll spend a few days in rome and make our way to Barcelona to take the freedom trans to Fla. So it looks like I’ll have to follow your trans trip also! Do you plan out your train trips ahead of time or do you just wing it? That sounds like fun. happy travels to you!
  10. haven’t done mine yet,(sept for us) but from what I’ve been reading it’s usually one of 2 ways- 1- all people doing the b2b go to the same area on the ship and the customs people come onto the ship and clear you. or 2- all b2bers are escorted off the ship as a group, cleared by customs and then escorted right back on to the ship. if you are keeping the same cabin, you just leave your stuff as it is. (Much easier to try to have the same cabin) if you have to change cabins then you have to pack all your luggage and your steward will move the bags to your new room.
  11. I always just bring a bar of soap from home for the shower. I never use the shower gel and hubby brings his usual body wash. we were on her last week and there was a small round bar soap for the sink, so maybe ask your steward.
  12. Someone posted this earlier and I saved it because we have our first ultra coming up. it’s all the drawings but I dont know the other info.
  13. Thanks. Yeah I waitlisted it as soon as I realized.
