  1. Since my wife is handicapped and uses a scooter, I am unable to assist her and also carry off our own bags forcing me to place them outside my stateroom for pickup. I don't like doing this because twice in the past passengers picked up my plain black bag only to return it to the terminal to get their bag after we searched for ours for over an hour. Since then, we have very distinctive colors and painted designs on our bags where no one can possibly mistake ours for theirs. We also have permanent name tags on the outside of bags plus a "return for reward" letter inside. We have photos of our luggage on our phones to show attendants who may have to look for them. The first photo on the memory card of our camera is of a sign with all our info and the offer of a reward for return of camera or even just the memory card with all our photos on it if they insist on keeping the camera. We are very careful to fill out all forms with our correct Airline flight number and time and final destination and cell numbers. Yes, there are many new employees on the ships right now and our stateroom attendant was so nice and helpful the whole trip that I do not want to press Celebrity to pay for shipping my bags for fear he might get in trouble over delivering the wrong bag tags. I will be more careful in the future double checking my bag numbers to insure they are not linked to special excursions. You would think that after 50 something cruises that I would have all my ducks in a row when embarking or debarking but every now and then you run into a lame duck.....
  2. Good news. Celebrity emailed us and said they found our luggage. Of course Hop on Hop Off says it is our fault for not picking it up at the airport but since we never booked HOHO we never knew where to look for it and besides we had an earlier flight. They want us to pay for the shipping from Canada to Louisiana which I will grudgingly do although it was celebrity's fault for giving us the wrong luggage tags. They say it wil be two weeks before we get it so if there are any changes we will reply later.
  3. We disembarked the Eclipse in Vancouver June 26. The night before we put our 2 suitcases out to be brought to the terminal marked with the #1 tags that they had given us. This is the 5th cruise we have taken on Celebrity in the last year and we are used to getting low numbered tags because we usually have an early flight. When we went to the terminal there was no spot for #1 bags and the attendants told us that #1 bags were for the Hop On Hop Off excursion that ends at the airport and that all #1 bags were put on a truck for that excursion. We identified our bags to them and they phoned the truck driver who said he didn't see them on top and could not unload all the bags to look for them. They would not let us go look in the truck and said they did not know when or where the truck would unload them. We filled out a Personal Property Report and were told that when (if) they found them, they would ship them to me. We searched the terminal for them to insure they were not in there and due to an early flight had to then try to rush to the airport and we have not heard from them. I phoned Celebrity today and all they could do was give me the web site of an independent company that searches for lost luggage. I filled out a form with them and don't have high hopes of them recovering anything. Living in Louisiana it is hard to deal with people in Canada about lost luggage. Is Celebrity responsible for my lost luggage or do their terms of agreement release them from liability? We hate losing some of our best clothes, camera, binoculars, souvenirs, battery charger and basket for my wife's scooter and other items.
  4. I was on the first cruise that restarted in the Caribbean, the Millennium, on June 5, 2021, out of St Martin, and they gave everyone a free test the day before disembarkation, for their flights home. When I booked this cruise, we figured that they would do the same for our Eclipse cruise on June 19. It was after I booked our flights that we learned we needed to get a test before flying home and that Celebrity was not giving them the night before. I would have flown back from Seattle instead of Vancouver if I had known that previously. Now Celebrity says they will give us a free test in port after the cruise since we booked the cruise before November 16, but, we have an early flight home and don't know if we have time for the test which thousands may be taking. They ARE giving FREE tests the day before to unvacinnated children so why can't they give them to vacinnated travelers also? Unvaccinated children are required to take a COVID-19 test prior to re-entry into the U.S. This complimentary test will be administered onboard. All fully vaccinated guests requiring a COVID-19 test to return to their home country will be provided the opportunity to receive testing in the cruise port during disembarkation. Proof of return travel scheduled within 24 hours of disembarkation will be required. Details on testing registration will be provided onboard. Testing will be complimentary for guests with cruise reservations booked prior to November 16, 2021. For new bookings made on or after November 16, 2021, testing will be available for a per person fee. The cost for onsite cruise port testing starts at $99 per person. Prices vary by port and test type. I have been on 4 Celebrity cruises in the last year and have had very poor wifi on all of them. Sometimes it is not available for many hours and other times cuts off and on. This makes testing on the internet highly unlikely.
  5. I love mariachi music and Mexican food and I have been to Cozumel about 20 times and never heard of La Mission. I plan to visit it my next time there. You can depend on crewsweeper and c-leg5 to give you the best info about Cozumel and Costa Maya if you have any questions.
  6. I sail on the Eclipse in a few weeks and I get emails from Celebrity asking me to use their app to file my immunization cards and photos but I go on their app and can find no way to do this. Suggestions?
  7. I wonder how many of those who "fell" overboard played in the casino until they blew their entire credit limit and could borrow no more?
  8. Especially now, you can book a room for 3 or 4 even with only one person as long as it is a regular cabin and not something like an owner's suite. I usually book a balcony and I look online to see if they have one I want. If the one I want is for 3 or 4 people, I test book it for the 3 or 4 people. If it is available I go to my travel agent and tell them the cabin I want. I have never had one tell me you have to have 3 or 4 to book it but if you go to the Carnival site and try to book it online it will tell you it is unavailable for 2 people.
  9. I use my gift cards in advance to purchase shore excursions online and other incidentals. Then when I get on the ship I go to guest services and have them put the full cards and the partial cards on my account, even though I know I will not spend that much, so I don't have to worry about emptying my account and have them charging to my back-up credit card. I usually have a few hundred dollars left in my account when I leave the ship and a gift card with that balance will arrive by UPS about 3 days after I get home. If you accidently let guest services put the remaining amount on the card into your account onboard instead of just the small amount for something you are purchasing, this empties your card and then when you disembark you have to wait for them to send you a gift card with the overpayment on it. If you do not receive this card in a week you must call Carnival and report it. I have heard from people before who have emptied their card this way and couldn't figure out what happened until UPS showed up with their new gift card. I love the gift cards because I get them for 10% off at AARP and I buy them with a credit card that gives me a 3% rebate so I actually save 13% on my cruise and they are as good as cash on Carnival for anything, don't expire, and if you don't use the full amount they quickly send you the balance in another card.
  10. I am an American who cruised to Cuba few years ago when it was legal. Now we can not book cruises to Cuba anymore I loved it and want to go back. Are there any ways I can book a cruise from a different country to Cuba? Any info you give me will be greatly appreciated.
