  1. Thank you! We’ll take on cruise day then. We have taken our own pics the last few times and uploaded as I don’t remember seeing a bypass option to opt out of not taking your own pic. Appreciate the advice everyone!
  2. Thank you!!! I don't recall being able to bypass the photo part at last online check in but maybe I missed it. I do recall the photo part being a bit persnickety though.
  3. Can someone please remind me what type of pic we are to take for online check-in? It has been over a year since my last cruise and I can't remember if it is just a head shot needed or if it is okay to have shoulders in the pic too. If I remember correctly, it is sort of like a drivers license pic but I honestly have no recollection of what I did. I was hoping to have pics taken prior to on online check in so I am ready to go when the time comes. Thank you!
  4. Please do not worry. We purchase a dining pkg every single cruise and my best suggestion, has been mentioned already, take care of this first thing when you board. If you are unfamiliar with the ship, I would look at a deck plan ahead of time and locate the area where the specialty dining venues are and reserve all of your meals there upon boarding. Sometimes there is someone even standing outside OV waiting to sell dining and they can schedule for you as well. My advice is to be prepared with a list of dates, times and restaurants you want to visit- prepare ahead of boarding. I always have a few options ready so if I don't get what we'd really want, I am ready with other options. Even if you can't have your preferred time, you can always check back another day as others cancel or modify their reservations. Even if you don't get your preferred time- you are on a cruise and living life in paradise for a bit...celebrate that and enjoy. Good luck-
  5. Hello. We are sailing Japan on Millie in October, currently in a C3 category (port side aft) and we are 100% perfectly happy with our chosen cabin/class. I just received an email regarding an upgrade and am considering bidding for a Sky Suite. For those that have bid before, do you have suggestions or tips on bidding? Is there really a big difference between Concierge class and a Sky Suite? After viewing videos online, it appears as though the room isn’t much of an upgrade but the other perks included might be. We already have the premium beverage pkg, wi-fi and have specialty dining reservations. Our itinerary is very port intensive so not sure it’s worth the extra, if excepted. We will finally be Elite after this cruise and I wonder if Celebrity considers that when choosing those that get upgraded. Thank you for any advice- I appreciate these boards immensely!!!
  6. We are flying into and traveling Japan for 20 days and I think I will travel with my 2 meds in their prescription bottles, instead of in a day of the week container like I use at home. Will also have my doctor prep a short letter stating the need for the meds and have a copy of my prescriptions. I am a bit nervous about a pain medication that I take for my shoulder. It is something I take only when there is no other option to manage the pain and it sounds like this med is not able to travel with me. Am I understanding this correctly? When we travel, I always pack a little emergency kit that includes-first aid supplies, Tylenol and Advil, stomach meds, Ny-Quil, etc.- as well as some Dramamine. For those that have visited Japan in the past, should the med options not travel with us? Dramamine and Advil/Tylenol are something that we have to use from time to time but I want to understand this so I do the right thing. Thank you-
  7. I have been communicating with a guide in Osaka and he said he is currently meeting passengers at Tempozan Port in Osaka. There is construction going on for sure but large cruise ships are still using the facility.
  8. That’s hilarious! 🤣🤭 The poster calls it soda so I did too and then my wording kicked in with pop. Thanks for the laugh…
  9. Regarding the classic pkg and... Coffees- the only restriction, I believe, is getting any type of alcohol in your coffee. I have ordered an Americano, cappuccino, etc. (all without alcohol) and have never paid a cent with the pkg. Premium pkg, includes alcohol in your coffee. I agree about the confusion in Celebrity's vagueness. Soda- Coke products are included as far as I can remember. I'm not a pop drinker though. Pelligrino is not included in the classic pkg, if I remember correctly, but is on the Premium pkg. If you aren't looking for a refund, then there is no reason to downgrade the pkg as you should keep your options open- IMO My advice is to let the server/bartender know you have the classic pkg and ask questions if you have them once onboard. You will not get the same answer from ever server or bartender. I would search online for classic beverage pkg and you will see a list. Happy sailing!
  10. Thank you so much! I too don't want to ask for the info to ruin the surprise. I will try this route!
  11. Thank you floridatravelersforlife! Are they saying that if you have less than a 30 day supply of meds, you don't have to go through the process that you went through? If yes, I would think if meds are carried in their prescription bottle, all should be fine. My vitamins are not prescription but I guess it would be best to take those in their original bottle too...although they will take up a large amount of space as those bottles are large. Guess condensing into a daily marked container might not be a good plan for Japan...
  12. Does anyone have ideas on how to gift someone OBC? I ask because we have some friends that are cruising Celebrity and we would love to gift them some OBC. Ultimately a surprise OBC that they find once onboard would be fun but giving it in advance of the trip would be fun as well. Thanks-
  13. We always reserve the dining package pre-cruise- great deal IMO. Before boarding, we figure out where we'd like to eat and what night so when we board, I can go straight to a specialty restaurant and schedule everything at once. I have learned that even if I don't get our preferred dining time, it is worth a call or stop in a restaurant later in the cruise as some cancel their reservation or the venue may just fit you in. Always worth another ask...worse they can say is- so sorry.
  14. A few months ago, I asked if Millie had metal walls as I was interested in knowing if it was worth bringing my magnetic hooks onboard. Most said yes but I’ve read on a few vlogs that were live from the Millennium and they said that she does not. Can someone please verify? We are in a C3 category. Thanks!
  15. Looks like a lot of Celebrity excursions are booking up, or at least they are making it seem that way by saying -only 5 seats left. We are taking a few X excursions and I know they aren’t the best option. I figure we can always cancel later but grab the pre cruise discount now.
  16. Yes, I have been emailing and asking for port pick up. I did find someone in Osaka that would meet us at the cruise ship and we would use public transportation to get to Kyoto. We are working through the details now.
  17. We will carry cash and likely get it at the airport. Sounds like ATM is the way to go for exchange rates. Should we let our bank know (small bank) that we are going out if the country, for debit card use in ATM?
  18. Hi Everyone. We are traveling to Japan in October for the first time, from the US. I have read that it is difficult to bring prescribed meds into Japan as well as over the counter (Tylenol) and vitamins. Am I understanding this incorrectly and way off base or is there a safe way to travel with meds in Japan and not get them confiscated? Thank you so much!
  19. Has anyone used go with guide for a private tour? I’m chatting with a guide right now and they seem accommodating, responsive and kind and although online reviews of this tour guide are good, I'm not sure if the reviews are verified. On a totally separate note- the tour I am inquiring about would be our first private tour with just the 2 of us and the guide. For those that have done this before- do you feel uncomfortable or obligated to keep a conversation going with the guide all day? Although this experience sounds amazing, do you feel it is a lot to take a private tour with an unknown person? It’s likely guides know exactly how to integrate with their group. I’m also likely thinking about this too much. Thank you!
  20. We are sailing on Millie in October and this will be our first time on M class. Are the Millie cabin walls metal just like on S Class? I usually bring chip clips or magnetic hooks to attach to S class walls to help us organize our things. We won’t pack these things if we can’t use. On S class ships we also hang a closet shelving organizer (attaches with Velcro and is 4’ tall x 12” wide) to the closet bar. This helps us organize as well. Would this fit in a C3 category closet on Millie? I’m not able to figure this out with online images. 😞 Thank you!
  21. Does the Millennium have a spot that is comparable to the Ensemble Lounge on the S Class ships? I ask because one of the many things we absolutely love about the S Class ships is the Ensemble Lounge. We love the atmosphere, the live music in the evening and the coziness of this area both before and after dinner. It's even a great super quiet and private spot during the day when nothing else is going on in there. Great spot to read, sip a drink, color or play a board game. Our upcoming Japan cruise is on the Millennium, was originally scheduled on the Solstice, and I am wondering if there is a location like the Ensemble on Millie. This is also our first time on an M Class ship. The Edge Class has nothing like the Ensemble onboard 😞 and my hope is Millie will.
  22. We arrive at HND on a Monday late afternoon and are staying at the Hyatt Regency Yokohama, 1 night pre-cruise. With 2 carry-ons and 1 medium-large piece of luggage in tow...what is our best way from HND to the hotel? If the before mentioned limousine/bus is the best way, which area do I pick to get on the correct route to the hotel? website- https://webservice.limousinebus.co.jp/web/en/ Does anyone know the cost of a taxi? I have heard it may be $60 USD. Are taxi's right outside the airport just like in the US? Thank you-
  23. I am wondering this same thing as well!
  24. When purchasing Sushi on 5 separate from a pkg, would we still have a per person credit as with a dining pkg?
  25. Hello! Can anyone tell me how the Sushi on 5 restaurant works when you have a dining pkg? We have never been to this restaurant before and I noticed the menu says a la carte. If this is the case, are there prices on the menu are there only certain items that are included, etc.? Thank you!
