  1. Hi

We were on the same cruise as you and spoke to you quite often about the issues.

We also were not told about the stretch and when our agent called them she was assured that the ship was finished. Small issues were expected but not the total mess that many of us not all experienced.

My agent had us write a letter to SS and she is now doing the work for us. She is forwarding the letter to the proper person..Calling is a waste you need a letter and pictures if you have them

    Good luck hope this helps.

  2. Do your homework. What one person likes another does not.We normally like Seaboune 1st SS second. We took the Paul Gaugin it was in our opinion the worse cruise we have ever taken. It did not come close to SB or SS.

Food was not to our liking ,no water activities off the boat, very disorganized .We took their all inclusive which was air hotels and cruise. We upgraded everything and still not anywhere near what you will get on SS.You might decide that PG is for you and enjoy it is the only way we learn,

  3. I have been holding my tongue because I do not know all the answers and I do not want to give the wrong advice.

We have a trip booked this coming May. We are arriving 8 days before our cruise and have paid the $150 pp deviation fee. We have seats and a confirmation from our travel agent. I am confused at what the issue is here.We chose our preferred airline and the seats we preferred. This is the first time we have used SS air and so far so good.

  4. Sorry Jeff I was not clear..We are just getting some information. Our agent was told if we refuse the air because of the price we loose the $300.00 .No money has exchanged hands yet nor a solid booking.Agent was up front no issue with her.

I was really wondering if anyone had taken the air package with a deviation if the air was that much higher than the $599.I expect an increase but not sure how much.

    Thanks so much

  5. We are looking at a SS cruise for next May The.Business class upgrade is $599 pp.We need to pay the deviation fee because we are going to stay in Europe before and after the cruise. They are telling my travel agent that the fare can be higher than what they have quoted. If this happens and we decline we loose our $300.Has anyone found that the actual ticket price was higher than the advertised fare? Thank you all in advance.

    We are flying from Phoenix.

  6. We embarked the Odyssey yesterday and I wanted to provide a quick update:

    - Overall the ship is in excellent condition.

    - New carpet everywhere, in suite, and all public areas. In fact, they loaded new carpet in Athens and were continuing to replace the carpet on some of the aft stairwells last night.

    - The blue leather is gone in the Observation lounge benches and replaced with a dark fabric. I think it looks more modern.

    - Service is excellent all over the ship. There is a mix of tenured crew and new. But to be honest, you can't tell the difference!

    - All of the crew are wonderful that we have met.

    - Food is very good to excellent, I had a lovely rack of lamb last night and a very tender filet of grouper for lunch today.

    Other observations and minor annoyances:

    - what happened to the top sheet on the bed? We have a fitted bottom sheet but no top sheet, only the duvet. I might be asking our stewardess this question?

    - The windows and glass balcony were filthy when we embarked yesterday. They were cleaned today but not to a great degree so we will monitor this and ask our stewardess if it needs extra attention.

    - There are a lot of children on board, mostly well behaved but more than I have ever seen. Despite their numbers, they are still better than the 2 screaming Mexican kids (with accompanied nanny) that we had 2 years ago on Sojourn.

    - There are a large number of large family groups on board. By this I mean grandpa and grandma paid for the owners suite and brought 15 of their closest family members with them. I don't mean to seem unkind, but they do not look particularly well travelled.

    - No one seems to understand the concept that if you need to move your balcony furniture that you should pick it up to move it, rather than drag it across the balcony. Very noisy!

Overall we are enjoying the Odyssey!

We have had the sheet issue on the Soujoin and the Encore. We asked the stewardess to remove the duvet and replace with a top sheet. No problem. Also on the Encore in June we noticed the same about people dragging furniture and slamming doors. We happened to mention it to our room attendant and she said they now have premade signs that they will hang on doors that say something like "noisy neighbor"We declined and were not sure if she was kidding us.

  7. So funny how we all experience something different.I believe you had issues but we went the night of and always got in.We would look at the menus of the other restaurants and decide on the day of which restaurant to dine in.

Aside from that we would never sail on the Encore again.

  8. On the smaller ships they had loungers on both side of the pool deck in the shade. On the Encore they have replaced them with tables and chairs.Upstairs on one side where there is shade is the smoking area. You could put your chair on the side of the pool deck on the Odyssey ships but now that is totally blocked off on the Encore..Really there is very little shade.Very poor design.
