Hi CGT, I should have wished you a Happy New Year.......so beleated.

I LOVE asparagus😃. As for Spam? I honestly think I have never eaten it in my entire life.

    Hi Lois…Happy New Year…well…at least let’s hope it’s better than last year…lol.

Spam…is an acquired taste.  The Hawaiians go crazy for Spam.  It turns out that during WW II Spam became a form of monetary exchange and the Hawaiians used it in their rice dishes.  It caught on and never lost its appeal in Hawaii.

Good morning, thanks for the recipe suggestion but I never buy frozen concentrate. What do you do with the 2/3's of the unused can? Lemonade is a bit too tart for me......I did buy a strawberry/banana mixture too. Will give that one a try.  I guess the peach tea offsets the lemonade?

As for the diet, I will use google and see what comes up. My other issue is diabetes.....type 2.......so the green veggies are good for that......you are saying they are not good for kidneys? Yikes.

The concentrate has sugar and will moderate the Crystal Light.  That is why I only use a third.  Then you just put the rest of the frozen concentrate back into the freezer for future use….try it.  It will brighten up your tea.  I always mix the Crystal Light and the concentrate in hot water then stir.  Then fill the jug with cold water and stir then let the jug sit in the fridge overnight.  Also try adding a couple of shots of seltzer or flavored seltzer water to your glass of iced tea!  You will have an almost sugar free carbonated fruit drink!

Right…dark greens are bad for the kidneys as are fatty or cured meats…think sirloin strip and fillet as your best meat.  Think chicken, pork, etc.  Think iceberg lettuce, celery, carrots, onions, etc.

Saw the Dr this morning....my numbers have come down (thankfully)....still a little high but nothing like what happened to me a few weeks ago. She wants me to drink, drink, drink......I am alternating between water and Crystal Light.  Water is SO BORING.........Crystal Light tastes good and has no sugar in it. I normally drink the Peach Tea.

Very good news Lois.  I always make up a big batch of Crystal Light.  Try one packet Peach Tea and one packet of Lemonade and 1/3 can of lemonade concentrate…makes a gallon.  The concentrate takes away the sugar free aftertaste!  Check out a kidney diet.  No harsh meats like cured meat or fatty beef.  No dark greens like spinach, broccoli or kale etc.  check it out.

Hi, hope you are feeling better. I was in the hospital for 5 days. I had the stemt removed this morning and tomorrow I have a follow up with my nephrologist. I feel fine, thankfully. Will let you know what she says.

Fingers crossed prayers said.  Keep us posted.

Hi again, too long to go into typing, but my numbers went through the roof.......I am in the hospital now. Had a kidney stone removed last night and a stent put in........taking it day by day. Send good thoughts please.

    Hi Lois,

I just saw this!  I’ve been out two weeks with Covid…no problem.  I hope all is well with you now.  Give me an update.

Hi CGT.......well, I had to go for a 2nd set of labs........the creatine loss went up too much for her liking (in a shorter period time)..........I don't know what has happened😮but had lab work today.  Wish me luck because I don't know what is wrong.☹️

Hang in there Lois and try to get your doctor to level with you about your creatine loss rate in terms of weeks and months.  Again I emphasize taking a close look at a kidney diet.  Please keep us posted.

I haven't checked in here for a while.......Hi CGT😀 loving your list of seafood.

Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving😃.....I have a question for you. I know you have mentioned Kidney Dialysis before......I have to see a Nephrologist a couple of times a year. Just had my blood work done....my Creatine number seems to be going up. I know that is not good.😮 Any advice?

Not sure why I had the jump from my bloodwork earlier in the year............

Hi Lois…Happy Thanksgiving to you too!  I followed your recent transatlantic on Nova!

You might want to look at a kidney diet to protect your kidneys.  There are a number of things you can do to keep your kidneys healthy.  Talk to your nephrologist about the rate of creatine loss.  They compare it from year to year.  Chances are it will be another 40 years before you have to be worried.😁

Is an American "chocolate egg cream" different from a British "chocolate Creme Egg"?

Hlitner gives a good description of the Chocolate egg cream.  Definitely different from your chocolate cream egg?  Isn’t your chocolate cream egg the Cadbury egg?

I am booked on the Joy from Southampton to Miami on Feb 13th, 2024. On every itinerary map it shows a direct route diagonally from England to Florida. I am wondering if its possible the ship would head South along the coast of Europe following the Canary Current and then go West following the North Equatorial Current. To that end, is there a website or other resource that ships report their scheduled route to prior to sailing? I assume they have to but cannot figure out where. Thank you in advance.

Your planned route looks like a nonstop shot into Miami.  You will be in the southern route south of Bermuda.  Other than exiting the English Channel and skirting the Bay of Biscay you should have smooth sailing barring any squalls.

Looking for some advice on cabin selection on the Regal Princess for the Transatlantic to the British Isles in April.  My 2 choices are a starboard side deluxe balcony or an aft balcony on Baja deck which we have never had before.   I like the size of the aft balcony but an concerned we may not be able to enjoy it as much as the weather may be on the cooler side.    Any feedback would be appreciated.

The aft balcony for the view.  For the balcony:  You can always get extra blankets for your lounger and wrap yourself up with a good book.

I will be going solo on the NCL Joy from Southampton to Miami Feb 13-24, 2024. This is to cross off a bucket list item.🙂  It will be after it's 3 week drydock so I realize work may be going on in some areas during the crossing.  Hoping the Haven isn't one of them.

In your experience, is it OK to book a flight out of Miami on the actual arrival day? I'd usually book a flight around Noon or later. Wondering if there is possibility of a late arrival. Thinking I may use some hotel points to stay in Miami that first night then fly out the next morning.  Any thoughts would be

Where will you be flying to?  I’m assuming New York.  You should have plenty of flights for the same day as your arrival.  Just give yourself enough time to get off the ship and get to the airport.  I always feel that extra night at the airport is a waste of time…but that’s just me.

I recently saw an interview with a person who said he puts ketchup on his pancakes.I never heard of that and would never do that.

The only topping I would have is Maple Syrup .

    Any others ?

Absolutely maple syrup.  It goes so well with fried ham and sausages.  My all-time favorite is blueberry pancakes.

    Living in the past……………..

Not at all Bruce.  I am on dialysis and have to watch my liquid intake and phosphorus. My weekly treat is a chocolate egg cream which also can be a chocolate ice cream soda which is an egg cream with ice cream added.
