1.
You can get them towards to the towards a flight, but not towards making an elite level.

    Happy sailing,
    Jenna
With Delta when you get to Platinum Level you can gift Medallion Silver Status to anyone. I got my platinum card last year.
  2. Well, we're rolling the same dice: we're doing Summit to Bermuda over Labor Day weekend (arguably, the peak of hurricane season ). But realistically, most of Bermuda's cruise season falls into prime hurricane territory. I guess you could play it safe and go early (May-June) -- but the water would still be pretty cold for swimming, then. :(

The scariest experience we ever had on a cruise vacation was changing planes in DFW on the way to Miami, one February. We hit wind shears, and our flight was temporarily diverted, causing us to miss our connecting flight). We ended up getting the last flight out (without our luggage), before the wind shears completely shut down DFW for two days. And, trust me -- those were some "white-knuckle" flights!

What we learned from that experience was:

    1) When you travel, there are no guarantees as to the weather; and

    2) Always have travel insurance (see number 1, above ;)).

We have had problems going home to Seattle through Texas. You can have problems anywhere. We just avoid Texas when traveling across the USA.

  3. In the past we did stay at The Shangri La. It is about 13 mins away. Last year we stayed at the Conrad Hilton, it was very nice and had a great breakfast. It is about 9 mins away. We also stayed that the Grand Hyatt Singapore. They have a great Grand Club Lounge. The Hyatt is about 11 mins away.

  4.
Hey there,

I think some people might be getting confused with the original bonus points offered offered last year just after the transition to the new system; that still applies if you have had reservations booked under the original promo from last year. This only applies to new reservations booked within this time (nine months from now or later).Hope that helps!!

Yes the 25 points that I was to have by today that has not showed up. The extra 25 for booking Aqua offered last year just after they started the new system did not show. I sent off the a email. I did receive my 35 points for the cruise.
  5. They were running a promo if you booked Aqua Class you get 25 points. So our last cruise we should have got the 25 extra points. I tried to check if I got the 25 points, but down for maintenance. We are also getting 25 points for our June 2015 cruise. Reason is that we booked over 9 months before the cruise. Our Aug 2015 cruise we are doing Barmuda cruise. The promo is 123GO. We dont get to pick just 1, we get all 3:D. I have just over 1000 points, only 2000 to go.

  6. We carry our wine onboard in our carry on luggage. The one time we had it in our main suitcase the case did not get delivered to our cabin . We got called to the naughty room to retrieve it. They opened the suitcase in front of us and then saw what it was and we were on our way . The issue here is that if there are a lot of bags stacked in the naughty room then you could be very late getting yours and may not have it in time to dress for dinner

When my suitcase did not show up before dinner. I was not called down to the naughty room. I wore my shorts to dinner in the MDR. Yes they said something, but they did not turn me away. They said tomorrow I must have long pants.

  7. I wear Polo jeans or colored jean every night in Blu. I don't bring formal wear at all. Not even a sports jacket. I was wearing dockers, but gave that up when I got Polo jeans in a khaki color. I'm within the rules and I'm comfortable with wearing it. Our last cruises while dining in Blu at night. I saw 2 men wearing t-shirts. I thought men had to have a collared shirt. It is not my call or my business.

  8. We were on the Summit in May and the Elete Breakfast is now brought to your table on a three tier plate. There is fruit on top tier

salmon, cream chese etc, on the second tier

and 1 muffin and lots of crossants and danishes on the bottom tier.

No choice on what you get.

You still have the |OJ and same coffee selection as before.

Not many people came back after the first day. A lot of food waste.

Yes I have heard about the 3 tier plate. Our June 30 2014 Alaska cruise they did not have the 3 tier plates.

  9. We have only had vouchers once. That was March 2014 14 day cruise in the Caribbean. The other 2 cruises it was in the Sky Lounge. We go up to the Sky Lounge about 5pm and have dinner about 6:30pm. On our last cruise to Alaska there were only 80 Elite and Elite+ on board. They did not close the whole Sky Lounge. just one area between the bar and the windows.

  10. Is this a dedicated area like the Diamond Lounge on Royal Caribbean? Is a concierge available?

No it is not dedicated, it is normally in one of the specialty restaurant. No there is not a concierge. They dont have it setup like the Diamond Lounge. We cruise 2 times on Indie and loved there Diamond Lounge.

  11. We normally book Concierge but will go reg balcony if the pricing is too high. We never book AQ (prefer the better cabin locations of CC, not interested in Blu and we usually travel with friends and enjoy our 4-8 top in the MDR) I do get annoyed when AQ is priced lower than CC tho:D

We also normally book Concierge Class. We have cruised in Aqua 2 time now and have 1 booked for Aug 2015. 1st time in Aqua was to try it. 2nd time Aqua was cheaper than CC. Plus we got 25 extra points. The points are nice, but with 2000 points to get to Zenith. We should make it, but it is not really a goal.

We cruise with 4 to 10 people. Some friends dont want to spend as much on their cabins. We would only book Aqua if all in the group wants Aqua. It comes down to if all CC were Aqua that at time we would have to cruise in category 1A. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with 1A. Blu would have to be much bigger. I dont even think Blu has a table for 10 people. Aqua you can only have 2 people to a cabin. I think cruise with more than 2 in a cabin would be a nightmare. Might be ok if there were 2 bedrooms.

  12. We stopped playing Bingo when they went to hard cards. Just not a fan of the hard cards from 50 years ago where your numbers never change from game to game. Princess did or does have Bingo machine. They load all your card into your Bingo machine.

  13. For most people upon embarkation it's either the buffet on deck 10, the pool grill on Deck 10, or Bistro on 5 on Deck 5 which is $7 per person cover charge. I do not recall if the Aqua Spa Cafe buffet on Deck 10 is open on embarkation day. Maybe some one else can answer that.

If you are staying in Aqua Class you will be escorted to Blu where you can have Brunch. If you are in a Suite you will be escorted to Normandie for private lunch.

The Main Dining Room is not open on Embarkation day or Port Days for lunch.

We were in Aqua Class on our June 30 2014 cruise on the Solstice. They did not have Blu open for lunch on embarkation day. It would be nice if it was fleet wide.

  14. DH & I consider ourselves official "glass groupies." We love the hot glass show so much we won't book any X ship that doesn't have it. The artists are amazing and their glass art is unbelievable...especially considering the conditions under which they work. There are usually a few "comfy chairs" with padding and backs, but like other posters have said, you have to get there early to grab them.

Give me a hard bench at the hot glass show over a stool at a slot machine any day! The casino may have A/C, but I've never lost a penny at the hot glass show.

The glass shows in Alaska on Solstice were great. Not warm at all.

  15. Why not try the AQ cabins on deck 11 unless they are a LOT more expensive? they are brand new, and the cabins on the side are VERY quiet. Never any noise from above. We will book there anytime we are on Connie again, specifically 1116 or surrounding staterooms....

We just booked 2 rooms on deck 11. I think 1112 and 1114 on the Summit for Aug 2015. We are going to give them a try.

  16. Just did some looking at new 2014 cards coming out.

The EMV cards being rolled out stateside are a bit different than those rolled out in other countries. The U.S. cards use what’s called “chip and signature” technology, while the EMV cards being issued overseas generally use “chip and PIN” technology. The chip and PIN cards require the cardholder to type in a PIN to complete a transaction, making it difficult for a thief who gets ahold of the card to use it. Although chip and signature cards still have the more-secure computer chip, they require a signature for the transaction, rather than a PIN.

Update: JPMorgan Chase announced in February 2014 that it would start issuing chip-and-PIN (not just chip-and-signature) cards later in the year.

Why would the stay with a signature. Chip and pin would be better.

  17. We are on a 17 day cruise in October and certainly chose the C2 cabin on the Solstice because of the location and the footstool. I love being so close to the resort deck and being able to get ice from the buffet whenever I like. Not bothered about the elevators but having a large deck and a lounger will be amazing.

We love the C2 cabins on the Solstice Class on the Resort deck. Much better location than Aqua Cabins.

  18. Thanks all, ya I have not been up to victoria since i was a teenager, kind of funny living here Seattle so close LOL. Its always well next year, next year LOL. The one place i do remember is the royal BC Museum, the wax museum part. I love the ghost walk idea, Buschart Gardens Is a nice idea to I wonder how long it takes from disembarking to shore?

The Wax Museum has been closed.:(

As you are docked it only takes about 5 mins to get out to the taxi. We did the Celebrity Tour, but you can hire ahead of time or wing it.
