  1. Not new to Princess, but has been 12 years. We booked an 7 night cruise in a penthouse suite on Discovery. Free SD the 1st night can only be booked once onboard. We get 2 SD and a 360: An Extraordinary Experience with our suite. Is 360: An Extraordinary Experience held every night? I'm wanting to book SD for the 2nd night on the App. Princess wants to charge my CC. Is Princess going to hold on to our money until we board, then credit our CC?

  2. @Jelayne, Thanks. I'm looking forward to trying the prime rib at Le Voyage. See if it is better than what I get in Luminae from the MDR on M and S ships. We like The Porch and sushi on five, so looking forward to trying Raw on Five. I stay away from most fish but salmon or fish and chips. E Class now has a different seafood tower that I'm looking forward too. Love raw oysters and cooked large prawns. I'm hoping that because our 1st Edge was only 7 nights. That I will have more time to enjoy the ship with Apex sailing being 11 nights.

  3. We sail in Aqua or Sky Suites mostly. Next cruise sailing in CS.

M Class Sweet Life is my favorite. Less suites than other X ships. The Retreat is smaller and feels more like an extended family gathering. The Retreat has an actual bar. In Luminae you can order off the MDR menu. I like the location of the suites on deck 6 mostly aft. I do like having the same butler bring a small breakfast at 7am. We are fine with the size of the Aqua cabins, but more space is nice. If in Aqua while dinning in Blu you can also order off the MDR menu.

S Class ships Sweet Life is good. I do like the Retreat, while it is nice it is a bit larger. The Retreat has an actual bar. In Luminae you can order off the MDR menu. If in Aqua while dinning in Blu you can also order off the MDR menu. I dont like that most of the Sky Suites are under the OVC.

E Class ships. We have only been on Edge Class ships once. That was the Edge. The only good things is the size of the Sky Suite, the bathroom and a real balcony. E Class has to many suites. I dont like having a suite forward. Aft Sky Suites are to far from the Retreat area. Luminae you can not order off the MDR menu. Luminae get much loader than X's other 2 classes of ships. The Retreat Lounge is cold and uninviting when you have to scan your seapass card to enter. Not all Retreat Lounges have a bar. While I think the Retreat Sundeck is very nice. It is not somewhere I spend much time. The pool size is just right for me. I might use the pool area for about a hour or 2 on a port day. I'm in for 3 mins than back in the sun. Retreat Sundeck is lacking shade.

Next June we will be on Apex in a Sky Suite to Iceland. Friends picked Apex. Some here on CC give me hope that I will like Apex better than Edge.

It wasn't too long ago they changed the evening Buffet menu right?  Everyone was complaining.  Now the Buffet is "crowded" and the food is better than the MDR?  What is going on?

Our group just booked the Discovery Princess, a new ship for a B2B LA next April.   Altho we're elite on Princess, we have only sailed on them one time in the past 10 years.  There were things we liked but still prefer Celebrity (and food was always top of the list).  Dining with friends and enjoying good food (not necessarily "gourmet") is a very important part of cruising for some of us.  Even if the menu is slimmed down, what they offer should be GOOD.   The ports are incidental as we don't make those long overseas flights anymore.  Happy cruising to all!

We also booked Discovery Princess. We booked Feb out of LA. 1st time back on Princess in 12 years. While I really enjoy suite life on Celebrity. I'll be comparing an Celebrity Suite next month to an aft Princess Penthouse Suite on a 7 night sailings. Is a Celebrity cruise worth $5000 more than Princess. Time will tell.

I'll add my two cents. We sailed on the Solstice in February and found the MDR food to be OK to very good. I'll agree that many times the presentation/plating seemed very basic and not what I previously expected from Celebrity.

We just finished a 12 night Iceland cruise on the Apex last month. I felt the MDR food was definitely a cut above what we experienced on the Solstice. I've been on all three Edge Class ships and it's been my experience that the Edge Class ships seem to do things a notch higher and closer to what I expect the Celebrity brand to be. TBH I'm this seems to happen often on other cruise brands where the newer ships have a better experience than their older ships.

If things do not change at Celebrity our June sailing on Apex to Iceland will be our last for awhile.

    One thing about Blu though.

They don’t ask for your names just the room number. So in theory, you and your wife could go to Blu and the other couple could go the main dinning room.

Fudging the system a little but it’s still only 2 people eating in Blu.

I'm not 100% sure. But when you give your cabin number your photo's show up on their screen.

We prefer to sail on Edge class ships now. 💜 They have Retreats.

We also ate on Millie at the RSD. Us from Seattle and friends from England were fine with 70°+ F. But friends from Tampa had to go get their jackets. X blankets were not enough. It was an port day in Ketchikan. We had walked to Totem Heritage Center and walked back via Married Man Lane to Creek Street.😲 The food and drink were good. It was an nice change. I think the staff were happy to see us 6.

    Different strokes for different folks…

We've been cruising with X for over 10 years and never had any “angst” over changes that they have made during that time.

FYI, No one is losing four lunches. They are available out on the Retreat Sundeck.

Yes, we had lunch on the Retreat sundeck and it started raining. At list on the Edge there was not a covered area to eat. Food even more limited than Luminae. Portions are smaller. Not all cruise locations are in a climate that you can eat outside.

On Millie, Luminae had a butter poached lobster on the menu one night later in the cruise.  On the night formerly known as "lobster night" which was also the first "chic" night, I had Luminae add a lobster from the MDR to the filet and paid a $13.99 upcharge.  Those were the only lobster opportunities I saw....

Inquiring minds want to know. If Luminae is adding or offering upcharges to its menu. Is the upcharge product better quality of lobster or steak than what is being offered on the Luminae menu. As Luminae has a limited menu on the E Class ships. Will we have those options on the E Class ships. As the MDR kitchen is not close to Luminae and its kitchen on E Class ships.

Umm, who is responsible for the overall guest satisfaction with the Retreat experience? My own experience is the Retreat Manager was pivotal to making sure everything went smoothly or was troubleshooted depending on perspective.

We did 2 sailings on Millie in sky suites in Jan 2016 and Jan 2017. In 2016 X had not introduced Retreat Managers. We were back on Millie in 2017 with a Retreat Manager. X had added the Retreat Manager, but removed 2 butlers. One from each side of deck 6. The story was that the Retreat Manager was there to solve problems so the Butlers could take care of guests. We have sailing in sky suite 8 to 10 times. Only once did I talk to a Retreat Manager.

im thinking unless its an obstructed view, the views are kinda the same hahaha 🙂

Aqua Sky suites have a large overhang from the OVC. If your looking for Captains Club points. Sunset Sky Suite gives 12 like RS and CS. Sky Suites gives 8. Those old sky suites now Aqua are my favorite on S class ship.

Are you thinking about the forward Retreat Pool for adults only (sometimes)?  That is open to everyone but rarely used.

On Celebrity at this time all suites have access to the Retreat Sundeck on E Class ships. This is a private outdoor area with a small pool, lounge chairs, bar and lunch area. None of Celebrity's other class of ship have a private pool for suite guest. You also get a suites restaurant called Luminae for breakfast, lunch (sea days) and dinner and a Retreat Lounge.

They'll get one for you if you arrive without a phone or printout, its a waste a paper and ink to print one out as a backup

We arrived at the pier in Hong Kong to board Millie. Either I did not print out our express passes or forgot them at home. I just gave staff my name and passport. We were onboard in mins.

  14. I not sure, but look at the video at 3:27 the outdoor hot tub and the frosted door/window. See the small round silver key hole. That should be for the allen wrench that opens the door. Photo from Summit deck 11, same design. Black round hole.

We are on Solstice in Alaska sailing on September 8th in a Sunset Sky Suite. Our cost is $9200. Last week I did a mock booking for the same September 2024 Alaska itinerary on Edge in a Sunset Sky Suite, and the cost was $14,800.

Supply/demand, yadda yadda, but even if we absolutely love this cruise (our first on Celebrity), it will likely be our last in the Retreat.

We are booked on your cruise also. We are in an CS for $12,400 out of Vancouver on Solstice. Just looked at now prices for an CS on Solstice. Only about $200 more than when I booked last Nov. Edge Sept 6 out of Seattle for a CS is $17,200. I've already decided to cancel our CS and have book an aft PH on Discovery Princess for Mexico.

We did 2 Alaska cruises last year. In my eyes Hubbard glacier is the glacier to see. Our cruise on Millie out of Seward was great. You get a better overall view of Alaska.

We are leaving out of Vancouver next month on Eclipse going down the west coast. The cruise is costing about $6500 for an 7 night in an CS. We booked last Sept.
